Double wide mobile home underbelly. Re-insulating.

Re-insulating a double wide mobile home after removing the old underbelly. We rebuilt the trunk line with two by fours. We insulated the entire trunk line and then wrapped it with roofing paper to seal it all off. Double wide mobile home, underbelly removal and replace.

Nice work guys. You're lucky to be in a climate where you don't have to worry about freezing. All my waterlines have to be heated in the winter and my drain lines need to be insulated. I'll soon be redoing my underbelly, but I think I'm going to leave a 2' open space in the floor the length of the trailer so I can blow in insulation, after I close in underneath.

Your narrow space is the same as my deepest space and I have to get under there before winter hits to stuff in new insulation and spray glue a tarp over it. Did I mention I have claustrophobia? Good times!

Hi Drew, I am looking for the metal sticks that you are using to secure the insulation. I looked up tiger claws but can't find them. can you give a name or post a link to where i can purchase some? Many thanks. You are incredibly helpful. With my husband passing, I'm doing it by myself.

Yes, go to Lowe’s or Home Depot go up to somebody that works there. Tell them what you’re looking for. They will be near the roles of insulation. My guess would be that you’ll see the rules of insulation on one side and on the other side of the aisle they should have, these little tiger claws they’re in a box. I guarantee you if you go to Lowe’s, they’ll get them for you.

Lowe’s or Home Depot they’re called insulation Tiger clause. They come 100 to a box or 500 to a box.

Just remember now, the rodents can’t run up and down the underbelly. Every individual bay is insulated so they’re not gonna be under my whole house they could get there, but they will not be under the whole entire house. They can only get into one individual bay at a time, I’ll keep them out. I have rodent block on top of my brick.

Now instead of doing insulation and the way u did it wouldn't spray foam insulation be better and easier ?

doing what you're doing is increasing your cooling ability by reducing your loss due to heat transfer that appears as condensation / sweat...inside your house should be cooler?

Yes sir Dale I believe what I did. He’s gonna make a big difference the dehumidifier under the house I think will help a lot.

good job for me that will not work only have maybe 2 foot to work in and if the insulation get wet will fall because of the weight. am in south part of Louisiana and it is wet under the Double wide mobile home a lot. any help on what i can do and now it is cold down here. thank you

Wet. Why is it so wet. Tight spaces are hard to work in. Best thing mobile home owners can do is make sure your house is up at least 3 to 4 ft off the ground. Then you will be able to get under and make repairs as needed
