@@LeeroyGaming you get them right away also in case you didn't know as it took me awhile to figure out... some of the best parts can only be bought in a station (in space) not on planets... like buying an actual bridge which automatically gives you 8 crew slots (all in the bridge so your crew will mostly be in the bridge for that cool aesthetic of having a fully crewed bridge) the shipyards also give special modules like a mess hall (cosmetic only... but its sooo cool having your crew gathering in the mess hall and eating)

@@LeeroyGaming well yeah thats the point though... the parts you get from the space stations are meant for sorta large capital ship sorta design... like something you might see in star trek ect... with giant bridges/mess halls/barracks ect... they also give you large landing gear for much heavier ships... it is intended for building large C class cruiser type ships

Not playing early access so a lot of informative video's don't really set quite well just yet. This video was great as it was a specific solid example of exactly what to do to modify ships. This is the kind of building block video most people need to see in order to understand all those other video's on the subject so the exact process has some kind of grounding. Thank you very much! While the game might say it's OK, it looks bad. The thrust from the forward engines will hit the cargo pods and rear engines. You'd have had a much more sensible build buy using engines mounted over the grave drive or under the reactor. From a visual standpoint, you can also get near the same cargo capacity by going with the smaller side mount cargo pods instead of the largest boxes. You've got a ton of unused attach points available. Your ship also ended up as sort of a mini freighter. You've got low weapon power, not great mobililty, and decent cargo, but mostly hab space.

If you’re building or modifying and making a video, tell us how much it’s going to cost. What’s the point of going through the entire build and then you can’t afford it. So thank you. Since you’re not actually building the other issue doesn’t really come up which is. If you’re building a ship which one do you start with? And where do you build it. They seem to miss that one all the time as well. But thank you for the cost.

You're actually better off using the cylindrical white dwarf engines, because they have a higher mobility stat. You can hit 1400 cargo capacity pretty easily with just the four engines while also having your mobility and speed maxed out.

Oh! I will look at that. Thanks! I finally figured out the sweet spot on the throttle readout. Setting speed at the top of that biggest white range in the middle helps get full maneuver. Makes turning on the fighter class Much easier. Although now we need a bigger reactor and hotter shields. Best I've seen are needing levels into higher ship design skills… not even available on max Piloting. Doh.

Tbh Just get the razorleaf asap then do the Akila city quest line and get the Eagle Ship snd it’ll last you into mid to end game easy. I spent 0 on ships just coz it was too confusing for me.

if all you care about is dirt cheap extra cargo.. get the Mantis ship: Razorleaf ... its Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger and FREE i don't remember how exactly i triggered it except that i was doing the very first 1-2 quests and "bumped into" space scum and one of them had a "secret outpost slate" which would tell you the location and all i did was replace the structural parts that held the engines with "1x1" hull that lets you connect stuff on each side and primarily it lets you place cargo on the back.. i used "Deimos Hull A" and this way i got extra +420 cargo under around 3000.. I don't remember

If you do the Freestar storyline, at the end you get an amazing ship with like 4k cargo, strong weapons and I think it looks amazing. It’s called the Star Eagle.

Don’t waist your time putting workshops in your ship. It’s better to just have a storage outpost and put workshops there. You can store as much as you want and keep it better organized.

A work around that you can try: Make sure you move the cursor to a blank area. Then hit the “A” button to add a module. Then use the “RB” or “LB” to select the module you want. Then you can proceed to place the part on the starship

Probably a stupid question, but... how do you attach? 😅 I'm in the ship builder menu from the technician but I have no attach option, at all. I've tried with both my ships (Frontier and the one from the Mantis quest) but nothing happens. I'm playing on Xbox, in case it has to do with anything.

Hmm someone else said this as well. I’ve only played on pc and the attach button is G. Normally there is a tooltip on bottom of screen that tells you what the button is. What do the button options say on Xbox? To confirm: you spoke to technician. Then pressed button for ship builder (as opposed to upgrade ship)?

@@LeeroyGaming Exactly, I first spoke to the technician, and went onto the Ship Builder section afterwards. I don't know the equivalents of what appears in the menu as I'm playing in Spanish, but there's definitely no option for attaching, I can just select parts, edit, mark, erase, customize... but no attaching. Also, I've checked the other choices, and none offer the chance of attaching. I can just upgrade the ship, or remove/change location of parts in ship builder, but I can't attach nor buy anything in that section.

@fernanditoization go under settings, then bindings, scroll down to the ship building section and see what the binding is on Xbox. You can alter it here as well. It’s weird some bindings down show up on interface on pc (like hitting J for changing colors)

If you like that aspect of the Mantis go with it, otherwise do the quests for the Star Eagle. Everyone should get it, its a class A ship that is comparable to the best class C ships.

​@@pepebenaluaagreed! All you have to do is go through the Akeela Town Rangers quest line for the star. If you get the Mantis quest which is a random drop you can do it first being that it's a one mission one and done, and use that ship until you finish the star quests as a Ranger.

Not sure if its just a bug or some other xbox thing, but "attach" isn't an option for me. Simply can do the bit where you attached and stretched the main cabin/passenger to increase crew capacity. No matter where I put the cursor the options are select, select all, duplicate, delete, edit, etc. Not at any point is there ever an option to "attach", at least not so far.

Is there any way to transfer components from one ship to another, without selling off a component from one and buying the same for the other? I'd like for instance to take off all the components of the Star Eagle and rebuild that ship onto the Mantis. In theory this will give me Mantis reactions while flying the Star Eagle.

The Caravel V102 Cargo Hold has more storage than the StorMax 40. The former has a Cargo of 330 while the latter has 245. Sure it might be a little bit more expensive (effectively if it were in USD as an example and you could break it down to hundredths of a credit it'd be 25 cents extra per 1 space).

You turned a classic 57 Chevy Belaire into a Mack Box Truck! Why? I am into my fourth starborn year with a upgraded nimby Frontier. She has served Constellation well as an exploration/research ship, she is not a garbage scow! There is UNLIMITED storage at the lodge just a few clicks and seconds away, not to mention ALL of the crafting stations. Sell your loot or store it at the lodge. Loot only weapons, ammo, and health items. While she might be underpowered, upgrading her reactor, grav drive, engines, fuel tank, shield, and weapons, she will take you to the end game pretty much as is without adding MASS! The Nova Galactic Discovery class is a classic older than the moon! Do you store ALL of your loot in your car?

Thank you for the video! 1 question...when you pull off a part to replace it with another, better one (like a grav drive), you pull it aside, put in the new one, then ?Delete? the old one before you save it all (actually all replaced parts no longer needed)...gone via 'delete' button. My question, do you get trade-in or "sold' credits for the parts you no longer need, or are they 'saved' in some kind of store inventory for a later build? Thank you.

There's a running total in the upper right of the screen. It's calculated based off the cost of parts you're buying, minus the trade-in value of any parts you delete. Any new part you add can be deleted without costing you anything; used parts are traded in, usually at around 10% to 15% their price brand new. The part only becomes 'used' after you've confirmed your purchase at the very end, so you can experiment with different parts and looks and configurations without it draining your account. Once you're done and go to exit the ship build screen, it will ask you to confirm your purchase.

Adding a crew station that is 2x1 gives you 4 crew slots not to mension there is no point adding more crew considering two things, time between getting more crew and the fact that amount of crew members is diractly connected to a perk in social tree that you aint gonna get on low level unless you put all points into it, also the astetic of a ship is kinda meeh. But as far as explaining how to add and rotate moduels this video atleast teaches poeple that dont know how to read. gj.

You can get by early game without a ton of investment into weapon systems. It's probably more important to have the cargo capacity at that stage to haul the loot back. That said this particular build isn't very efficient, as you can hit 1450 with the frontier pretty easily while also maxing out mobility. Just need to use the cylindrical white dwarfs instead.

I would have exchanged the places of the cargo holds and those extra engines. If this ship was built in the real world, the exhaust of the new engines would have melted the cargo holds.

The engines can’t be too close together, I know it’s not fully realistic and you could mess with heights etc. I made this setup to be easy to do and practical. Not necessarily to be beautiful or 100% realistic. Maybe I’ll make some aesthetic / functional ship builds for fun in a future video for people.
