@mushdock7221 honestly I am not sure. Your GPU could get that with these settings at 1080p possibly, but your CPU is going to take a battering. 16GB of RAM is not ideal, but doable. I think you will struggle in cities, but in space you could be ok.

8:05 Hey, you must be joking? These settings affect most games. Many options like AF and AA are overwritten by the game, but others are not. This is common sense. I use the panel since it was first introduced decades ago. E.g. settings like AF x8 or x16 don't affect the FPS much on modern GPUs, but AA and resolution do. On my system in Star Citizen it's a huge difference switching from 1080p to 1440p or up to 4K. But online the FPS are highly affected by the server performance. The resolution of the clouds do affect my visuals. I can't look at them with pleasure in 1080p at less than the very high setting. The shader cache on 10GB is a great setting though.

Server can certainly affect your FPS. And that's either a consequence of a general sense and how particular game is done in general. In general sense that is because server always sends you info about your surroundings at least, and the client has to process it. And not necessarily even render. And those surroundings may differ significantly from time to time. As an abstract example, imagine you are near a bunker and nobody and nothing is nearby, or when there are tons of debris already, which server informs you about. Who knows what else server is constantly informing the client about. And here comes the other side of the coin: how well this process is optimized or not. As an another example: imagine you are on a station and there are hundreeds of empty bottles lying on ground. On one hand, they are lying mostly still, and server could tell you about them only once, until something changes. But on the other hand, the server (or developers) may be lazy to "filter" this info and always send it to you, as if this surrounding is always changing, forcing the client to "update" all those entities even though nothing changes in fact. P.S. These were just abstract thoughts. I'm completely unaware how SC is done in particular. But I'm pretty confident the latter part (optimization) aplies to it.

Pointing this out as PSA for others because you don't understand the features you're advising others to use. If you did you wouldn't suggest them in the first place. V-Sync "Fast": This is for when your game runs ABOVE the monitor refresh rate, so only use this if your monitor is for example, 60Hz and your game always exceeds 60 fps. This has no bearing on your game stability, in fact it might make it worse. This is because Fast V-Sync allows the GPU to produce as many frames as it can but it will only send frames from the frame buffer to the monitor in intervals fitting 60Hz, assuming 60Hz is your monitor max. So your GPU will use 100% of itself when it's not necessary. For FPS below the monitor refresh rate when using Fast? That won't be taken into account, so you will get tearing. Again, Fast V-Sync is only for when your games always exceeds your monitor refresh rate. Triple Buffering; This loads up 3 frames in the frame buffer to always send off a clean, tear-free image to the monitor. This means 3x frame latency. At 60Hz that's 16.66ms x 3 = 50 ms latency, which is unnecessary as there are better options. When you're using Fast V-Sync, this also just adds extra latency as Fast is meant to be used only when the game exceeds your max refresh rate. Part of the benefit of using Fast V-Sync is to get the "earliest frames" your GPU keeps making, to gain better latency when your monitor is holding you back. Typical scenario; 60Hz monitor but your GPU can do 200+ fps in a game. So your GPU is working at 100% producing as many frames as it can and storing 3 of those in the frame buffer. Adding extra unnecessary latency from working so hard, and more extra latency with the 3x frame buffer. What you actually want to do: For G-Sync monitors, you want V-Sync ON in the NVCP, OFF in-game, in all games. Cap your framerate 3-5 fps below your monitor's max refresh. Turn off Triple Buffering. Why? G-Sync needs V-Sync to eliminate tearing entirely. G-Sync (and Freesync) syncs game fps to monitor Hz. They work in tandem. You cap the FPS within the monitor refresh rate because G-Sync is Variable Refresh Rate tech, so it only works "within the refresh rate". What does that mean? It means game do 74 fps? Monitor do 74 Hz. No tearing. If you don't cap; game do 170 fps but monitor only maxes out at 144 Hz? G-Sync disengages, traditional V-Sync latency penalty kicks in; no tearing but more sluggish experience. You can notice features like Nvidia Reflex which is built to work together with G-Sync, that it always auto-caps fps 5-6 fps under max refresh. So 144Hz is capped to 138 fps playing something like Apex Legends. No G-Sync? You can turn V-Sync OFF entirely, then use something like RTSS or the NVCP to cap your fps to a comfortable frame rate that your GPU is sure to handle against your monitor refresh rate. If it can't, you'll get tearing, so V-Sync can help smooth things over at the expense of added latency. All in all, get a G-Sync/Freesync monitor if you can. These suggestions to use Fast+Triple Buffering is literally just telling people to add more latency than normal V-Sync provides. This is also why you always want to turn V-Sync OFF in-game and ON in the NVCP (or radeon software) when using G-Sync/Freesync, or just normal V-Sync, because games will add hidden optimizations like Triple Buffering with you knowing, giving you more unnecessary latency penalties. Educate yourself first if you're writing a guide at least google the features you're talking about so you know what they do and you don't spread misinformation.

Someone who's using a G-Sync monitor and dishing out advice should at least know what their advice actually does, don't you think? People will take this for granted after all, as if you're giving them keys to the kingdom because they trust you. Anyone can say with confidence some settings for others to use, and lots do. Few research and make sure what they're saying is correct. Fix that and you won't have replies like mine. Good luck on your next settings video!

Having just come from an extremely deep dive into nvidia and graphics settings and how it all works this video was a tough watch. I was hoping to learn something new about SC but instead I can perhaps impart some info: Shader cache size is better higher. 100gb. The difference you're getting at 10gb is either identical performance or worse but with cognitive biases in. The same true for your page file custom size. Its only even used when your ram runs out. And performance mode does NOT enable the gpu to run better. It simply doesn't let it back off. So you can expect a tiny bit faster response going from low draw to high draw areas, but it's not an overall limiting factor. It is best to have it on, but it's cost benefit is not a great trade.

For people watching this... when ur changing setting on control panel, DON'T DO GLOBAL setting, it will screw you over if you play any competitive game, or game need fast reaction cuz you don't have to have VSYNC or trible buffering turned on when ur playing those games, just do yourself a favor... use program setting. Also turning on VSYNC won't increase your fps... its best to turn it off, VSYNC is used to prevent screen tearing, but at a cost of multiple delay which will make you feel the game is unresponsive, I highly don't recommend turning it on unless you really hate screen tearing. For in game settings, I recommend test out different settings urself for Quality, Scattered Object Distance, Terrain Tessllation Distance, those settings depends on your hardware, some hardware won't make a big fps difference, its usually around 10 fps difference for highest and lowest(from my friend's test). While Volumetric cloud is the key, turning it off will definitely give you the most fps, but it makes a big visual difference, recommend turn it to medium or high if your fine with losing some fps(test it out so you know how much), BUT! DO NOT TURN it to very high unless u have a good PC and ur fine with losing crap load of FPS, difference between high and very high is HUGE for cloud. Also, resolution make a big difference depend on your hardware.

I did say that you can do them in the program, apart from Shader Cache. Personally in global it has not affected any game I have played. It does mess up OBS though for example. There are literally hundreds of comments on the original video say that these work and haven even doubled FPS. Personally SOD and TTD have no effect for me, no FPS change at all in testing

@@JustDave_GG you can't just tell people what works for you. Claiming resolution and fov doesn't make a difference is misleading and ignorant.
@JustDave_GG Жыл бұрын
@@AgnosiaAgnosis actually SC is that unoptimised that it is less important than other games. I have tried 3440x1440, 2560x1440 and 1920x1080, all marginally close, across 2 different GFX cards. Hence my statement, play at your usual resolution. FOV in other games will affect FPS, in SC currently it doesn’t.

@CptRanger Жыл бұрын
First off the "quality" setting DOES matter. It should be set to HIGH as this pushes more work to the GPU vs CPU. The next 2 settings will give noticeable improvements when turned to off. Also full screen will give you up to 5fps more then borderless. Also if you have a NVIDIA card you should turn VSYNC off in the control panel. Lastly you should post in the description of what your system specs are as a benchmark.

I also noticed this. I get alot more fps using the highest settings a GPU can draw from.

Try it with and without. I have the same and use it. Other have chosen not to. See what works for you mate, but I think all 3 control panel settings work together. @axelk4921 Жыл бұрын
@JustDave_GG I agree with your Settings only one thing had to change to get even a bit more FPS....! The pagefile is a Leftover from the "primeval days" of windows, when it was just a "graphical interface" for DOS to give the system a break, the page file should have a "FIXED SIZE" at least the same size as the RAM or a maximum of 1.5 times that size Windows then doesn't have to write the "overhang" to the hard disk as often. even if the CPUs are getting faster and faster, they are not "parallel computers" but work "serially" and have to insert interrupts again and again to know if something has changed and a dynamic page file "interrupts" windows every time with the info : ATTENTION PAGEFLIE TOO SMALL/BIG, I change the size, this interupt costs computing power you also do this with the graphics card by adapting the virtual cash to 10 GB it's like a "drinking bout" in a pub with shot glasses where you have to go to the counter after each glass instead of putting a bottle on the table

Man, that 'volumetric clouds' eats up too much of your PC's performance and therefore generates HUGE amount of heats, if you playing on a gaming notbook like those MSI or Alienware gear, the heat difference in between 'volumetric clouds' on and off are so obvious that you can BBQ your bacon on your gear when that thing's on. I know it makes in and out of a planet air space looks super realistic and all, but consider how much performance it eats, that a feel seconds of realistic doesn't justify for most player's gear to turn that thing on. (of course, if you have a super huge SSD and super large memorie setup, feel free to turn that thing on, its beautiful and dynamic. I've tried it on a good desktop, its just glories if your desktop is that good. But other than that, just listen to Dave and turn it off)
