One of the things I appreciate most about your channel is the no BS approach. Thanks John!

John, I have a similar 125mm 4 jaw I bought when it was on an offer deal a few years ago. Mine is also mounted on a 6 inch rotary table and I did the drill through to the front face and counterbore mod on mine with no troubles at all. One thing you may have to do is slightly reduce the head diameter of the allen screws used to fix it down as the existing threaded holes in the chuck are already quite close to the chuck OD. You could also drill and counterbore 4 fresh holes on a smaller PCD. Edit to add: This 4 jaw from Vevor looks to be of a good standard of manufacture.....would I buy or recommend one to others? Definitely yes.

Earlier in the year I got a Vevor 5inch three jaw concentric chuck and I made a backplate for it for my lathe I altered my chuck to incorporate a four point adjusting screw set up to get it concentric to within about three tenths, but out of the box it was around 2.5-3 thou out and as John said for in my case I think £45 they are good value for what you get.

Yet another great review, thanks John. I also have one of tose chucks and like you want to fix it through the face to a rotary table. Would be very interested in seeing a video on how you go about the job. You have some genius ways of thinking outside the box, as recently demonstrated in your stud repair. Many thanks 👍

You've never given me any reason to doubt you and £40 for that is an absolute bargain by my reckoning. Cheers John.

Good review John. We'd all like to splash out on the very best kit but meanwhile back in the real world....... This is the price range and quality that fits the budget for most of us mere mortals, so nice to see an honest assessment .

The only vevor tool I have bought so far is a 30T hollow jack and it’s excellent.

Just like the rotary table, ive got the exact same 4 jaw, and want to set them up together. I was thinking backing plate, but the drill through idea is great👍👌🇦🇺

How do you remove the jaw screws, since the retaining U-Rods have no threaded holes at the rear ? Also, it looked like one of the jaw faces was 10 thou low - not too good.

How will you mount the chuck to the rotary head? I see the t slots, but there is no way I see to clamp it down.

Hiya John - don't know if you saw, but the rally at the weekend is cancelled due to high winds - a big shame as I was due to be up near Alnwick myself this weekend!

Drill and counter bore for through bolts, there is nothing that drilling will interfere with, and much easier, quicker and cheaper than farting around making a backing plate.

I’m surprised they didn’t give you a front mounting chuck that’s meant for rotary table mounting. This one is not. Of course it can be done, but it’s unnecessary.
