I’ve just completed my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Telecommunications and got admitted to a Master's program in Communication and Information Technology in Germany. The program includes courses on telecom, embedded systems, and some on ML/deep learning, and I’ll be starting in the Summer semester of 2025. Based on your experience, which specialization areas do you think would have the most demand and growth in Germany? Firstly, congratulations! Yes your field is very close to mine. Embedded, ML are very good specializations and there is a large demand in Germany for engineers with STEM Masters qualifications. Is it a good idea to do an industrial PHD without completing Master's? (Bachelor in pure CS Field from Hochschule)... If my staying in Germany becomes 5 years while I am still a running PHD student (Industrial) can I apply for Citizenship? Note: I am already in Germany.

In Germany as far as I know you can't start PhD without Masters degree. If you fulfill all requirements for nationality then you can apply for it. It depends on each individual situation whether nationality application would be successful or not. Since PhD positions are time limited contracts, this could be a problem during application process, since there is no certainty of obtaining job after PhD contract ends.

@akashpillai8286 PR is permanent residence. With this you can stay permanently in Germany without applying for any work permit or visa. However you still remain a foreigner and don't have the rights of a German national like a German passport, ID card etc. Once you have the nationality, then you become a German citizen with all the benefits I wrote Regarding bringing parents permanently to Germany, this is unfortunately close to impossible based on current migration laws. Only your spouse or children have the right to permanent residency in Germany

@akashpillai8286 yes there is a new law which allows, for those who are working in Germany with a blue card in certain professions and who first came to Germany after 01 March 2024, to bring parents and parents in laws. PhD is a full job, but it is limited time contract. If the contract is longer than 6 months, and the yearly pay is higher than 48.3K (or 43.7K for STEM field) EUR then you can apply for Blue card. If your PhD is at a university with full position, then probably you will reach this limit. For industrial PhDs I'm not sure.
