Probably our most memorable turkey hunt to date. Joe takes a long time friend out hunting to harvest his first turkey. This was an exciting hunt with highs and lows packed into one morning of nonstop action. This hunt took place in the mountains of Northern California.

it was actually a double that morning, as I was guiding a sight impaired hunter on his farm. He couldn't see the three toms coming in to my yelps & purrs, so when one tom was at the 12 yard strutting tom decoy, I told him where it was, & he shot it with his scoped crossbow. after it ran off, the other two circled my jake decoy out at 15 yards. I was about to pop the first one, when he went into full strut, & half his tail was missing, so I swung my pin over to the other one following the same path, & he also opened up to full strut like the other did. Perfect tail & ahead on shot! The taxidermist asked, what the heck did you hit him with?! Grim reaper carni-four expandable!

I struck out 3 times before I got my first turkey. It is a wonderful feeling when you get it too!

I shot my first wild turkey via archery, felt like a shotgun was like cheating. Used a double bull blind, & decoys from 12 to 15 yards. My tom circled my jake decoy, at 15 yards, & when he faced me, I hit him just above the base of the beard. He went 30 yards, & tipped over.
