Anyone on here hunt couse. Im trying to find someone that has hunted arizona couse and zone A deer. AZ has the reputation of the illusive couse and has become renown for fun and difficult hunt but zone A seems just as hard if not harder. Love to hear from someone that has done both. Lots of glassing?

Had to come back after a few years, can’t get enough of the experience! Question, how did you see him? Were you standing still glassing the area or did you see him while stalking? 15yds is really close to not have bumped him….
@DecisiveOutdoors8 ай бұрын
I did bump him initially, he never saw or smelled me, he just heard me through the thick brush and ran off. I caught a small glimpse of him the first time. I tried going around and up thinking I could cut him off haha. My ignorance is why I luckily saw him after I gave up trying to cut him off. I didn’t know he only went about 50-80yds from his original bed. When I was coming back down the hill I just so happened to catch him bedding again through the brush. So I guess I did cut him off 😅 just not where I was expecting him. I wish I would have been able to better capture the encounter. It was all luck
@eddielombera58628 ай бұрын

Hey brother as someone who hunts the a zone mountains in California what kind of physical fitness are you doing if any. I’ve been able to find deer but only after taxing my body hiking in. Any advice is appreciated brother. Love you videos they Helped me a lot
@DecisiveOutdoors10 ай бұрын
Hey Adam, thanks for the support. I workout routinely year round. Consistency is key. My average work out consists of starting off with light stretching, then go into 15 mins of cardio (bike, elliptical, running), then I go into step-ups, split squats and squats with dumbbells and/or a pack. Lots of push ups and pull ups. Various types of ab exercises. Ill do that for 2-5 sets takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. You don’t need a whole lot of equipment to stay in great shape. A set of adjustable dumbbells, a step up box, pull up bar. Cardio machines are optional cause you can always run. I workout 3-5 days a week and adjust my workouts depending on what I’ve got going on. When I’m preparing for a hunt I spend a lot more time with a weighted pack (50-70lbs) on the elliptical on max incline with heavy resistance. Since I’m currently living in low country SC that machine in clutch for me to stay in mountain shape. Start slow and increase your workout overtime and you’ll be amazed at what you’ll be able to do after a few months. If you want my exact workout hit me up at [email protected] and I’ll send you a starting point that’s helped several others. Good luck out there 👊🏼

@DecisiveOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks! This was first week of September. If you’re in shape, the hardest part about hunting SE AK is the weather. Self employed up there is the way to go lol hunt the good days, work the bad
@LostBoysProduction Жыл бұрын
@@DecisiveOutdoors totally agree! Haven’t yet figured out a way to keep the boots dry on a multi-day. Even with gators and new socks they always end up soaked. I don’t get a choice what the weather is as I’m flying up for a week or so and have to book things early. Keep up the great videos!
@DecisiveOutdoors Жыл бұрын
@LostBoysProduction what boots are you running? My feet have always stayed dry in kenetrek mountain extremes. I wax them heavily prior to every hunt. Even after several seasons of use still dry. Another thing I do is put hand warmers in the toes immediately after taking them off and lace them up so they only have a small hole at the top
@LostBoysProduction Жыл бұрын
@@DecisiveOutdoors I've got a pair of Gore-Tex Solomon's, I might be on the market to replace them this year as they are a bit heavy and like I mentioned slow to dry out. I will have to try out your handwarmer trick - that's a new one for me but it seems to make a lot of sense! One thing that's made a huge difference is running wool underlayers - they seem to dry out a lot better than the synthetic stuff, especially if you can get a fire going.
@DecisiveOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Water can definitely travel down the layers into the boots. Made that mistake a couple times, I had decided to forego the raingear since a was covering some ground and it wasn’t raining. My knees got soaked and wicked down into my boots even with gaiters on. Didn’t dawn on me till later that had happened. Well good luck out there!

Great story, that's goat hunting! Seems like it's mostly about whether you can see more than 50 yards, and most of the time up there, that's a negative! Nonetheless, an epic adventure, amazing wildlife.

Thanks man! We have talked about this hunt many times. We had an opportunity to go to a different area but the unknowns about this spot was mostly why I was drawn to it. Looking back obviously it was the wrong decision haha. First and foremost the adventure is what I enjoy about mountain hunting, if it was just about shooting an animal I can think of just about anywhere that’s easier to do that! Thanks for the comment, good luck out there!
