Another great lesson from Jordon. I like the detail and explanation of why and how. This are more beneficial to all upper levels and provide great drilling advice and practice. Outstanding job. I really enjoy your videos!

I personally love the cross court shot all the time serve return cross court, 3rd shot drop cross court, cross court cross court smash down the middle, dink cross court. I love it unless I’m attacking I’m gonna hit the ball cross court. Another fun shot cross court dink is when the other team hits short cross court near the middle and you bump it back over but keep the ball Momentum traveling the same way

Would you recommend stacking, to facilitate cross court dinking as the weaker teammate is targeted by your opponents?
@primetimepickleball5 жыл бұрын
I would recommend stacking anytime as long as it gives your team a clear advantage (maybe like the scenario you have given) . Stacking with no real purpose or intent would be silly.

We would like to see a video with strategy dinking with a left hander, especially when the LHer likes to guard the sideline to protect their backhand.

Talking about doubles strategy, what do you do when your partner insists on playing from the baseline, not coming to net. He believes he's better back there. Or, she is afraid of going to net due to fear of being hit.
@primetimepickleball4 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough situation, no matter who you are. Unfortunately, there’s not much that you can do until he/she changes their ways. You can either play at the baseline with them, or you can try to get up to the net, but it will be tough, because you will be exposed as the opponents will have many opportunities to hit the ball at your feet.

Thanks for the video Jordan!. I prefer to dink crosscourt but what if the weaker player that ur trying to target is right in front of you?
@primetimepickleball5 жыл бұрын
Great question! In a tournament I would then go to the weaker person (more) even if it’s down the line. Although I would still hit a good amount of balls cross court, because I know I can keep my dinks unattackable.

Hi Jorden. I have only been playing PB for about two months. 72 year old retiree. I play 2-3 times per week (playing doubles). I have been watching your beginner videos, but do not have anyone to drill with. So I have to incorporate your tips into my play time. Any help here?
@primetimepickleball5 жыл бұрын
Hey Ken, Keep searching for that drilling partner, you’ll find them. In the mean time, focus on something specific on each game you play!

Hi Ken. There is a great youtube pickleball video called 100 Pickleball Strategies by Jeff shank. It is the best comprehensive pickleball video I have seen. I suggest watching it and incorporating the advice given in your game. Manny times during a game there is a best shot to take. Like hitting the ball to a player that does not move forward. Get in the habit of hitting what you think the best shot is. When your team is up by four or more points use shots that you are working to improve, like backhand or spin shots. There are many good instructional youtube video like this one watch them and incorporate what you can into your game. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqG9fH6Vr9amlbs Don't forget to have fun.

That last shot you did that hit the other player was in the air. How is it allowed that you can be in the kitchen hit a ball in the air? I thought the ball had to bounce in order to step into the kitchen.
@primetimepickleball2 жыл бұрын
There was no step into the kitchen. He jumped the kitchen and that is called an Erne and is legal. He landed outside the sideline.
@dalevoigt86125 жыл бұрын
While the cross court shot takes away the ernie shot it opens up the around the post shot when hit a bit too wide. So one should be aware of how wide they are hitting.
@primetimepickleball5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is very true!
@gg801085 жыл бұрын
Yes I had the same issue, burned on the extreme cc. I watch some video and crosscourt is not extreme crosscourt in the winning matches. I changed my game.

So, I guess if you are the best player on the court, you can do the opposite of what you just said because the lower level players won't be able to handle the difficulty as well.
@kylebutz20035 жыл бұрын
I think this is the first of your videos that I really don't agree with the majority of the premise. I agree hitting cross is the easier shot to execute and allows for the most margin on that particular shot in a vacuum. But to me, games aren't played in a vacuum and the sequence and placement of prior shots has a greater ability to add more margin. If your opponent is sitting on a cross dink, you have to hit a high quality shot. If your opponent is uncertain on your shot selection, the shot you hit will have more margin. Working in absolutes of why it's "smarter" to hit one shot versus another in game theory is generally tricky. Any game situation is dictated by both your choice as well as your opponent's actions. Games are about creating and exploiting uncertainty or weaknesses in the opponent. That generally puts a premium on patterns of play and match-ups versus single shot execution, especially at higher levels - think poker for example. For me, I like seeing the options available to players. Generally there are a bunch of options that can be successful but it's up to us to make a choice in the game. Some of those choices can be pre-planned to probe for opportunity and create uncertainty.
@gg801085 жыл бұрын
Kyle I'll be looking fwd to your video! You will see even in the pros the cross court sometimes goes 30 shorts. The pro Kyle Yates says you have to be patient. Uncertainty usually happen at 4.0 and below.
@primetimepickleball5 жыл бұрын
Kyle, there are ALWAYS exceptions and different scenarios and matchups will change shot selections in a game. The point of the video is that dinking CC rather than DTL is usually the higher percentage AND smarter play.
@kylebutz20035 жыл бұрын
@@primetimepickleball Yes, I get the premise, just don't necessarily agree with it. CC dink is a must in the game. In my view, being unpredictable is more important as it keeps people on their heels thereby allowing shots to have more margin. The top players rely on the CC dink a lot, but their opponents are generally not able to lean in and force the perfect shot as the level of control and deception is so good. I just hear a lot of "always hit cross" from some people teaching and to me, that can close off options if the player takes it too literal.
