X-Men Apocalypse has finally seen the light of day, or maybe it hasn't! Because although it stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence, and has the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, the DT crew once again keep it 100% unbiased and review this movie for it's quality. Will that become a detriment to this film? Find out!

+Hans Antov Agreed she was rather wooden, but that guy playing young Cyclops was equally as bad, what put me off was first time I saw him at the comic con, when they were asking the cast about what it feels like to play younger versions of these character, he didnt even know what to say about it, like he just wasnt bothered. Dont know whether he was nervous or pressure or something but that really put me off him from the start. Me personally the only new actors who did good job playing younger versions of the characters was that guy who played young Nightcrawler he was really good and that young actress played the younger version of storm, she was really good totally underused.

I don't think it holds up. After all these superhero films that can blend humor and drama really well, seeing Doctor Octopus put his mechanical arms up in the air and scream "NOO" is just so goofy and unintentionally hilarious. Or seeing Peter walk around while "raindrops keep falling on my head" is playing just feels off. Harry talking to his dead dad and conveniently finding his goblin gear because they wanted him to be a bad guy in the sequel. There's a lot of things I personally think don't work in that film.

+LowkeyLoki WELL SAID!!!!! Vaughn basically knows how to translate the comic into movie form. Singer can't do that well for shit. I know people shit on Jennifer Lawrence, but honestly they gave Mistique a role that doesn’t suit her. The young cast was good, I would have liked having Cyclops showing his leadership as he tries to figure out his strengths. Instead we got a generic Katniss who prides herself as a mutant yet prefers her human shape. I know Jennifer Lawrence said this is her last xmen film, but they honestly should have ended her in the last movie. She didn't seem into this.

I think what they're saying is we don't know WHY he believes that so strongly. In ancient times, he was perfectly fine allowing the weak to survive when they served him as a god and killing the strong mutants to absorb their powers, but when he wakes up in modern times, he suddenly decides everyone (humans and mutants alike) is 'insubordinate' and deserve to die without even trying to get them to serve him. (This is all off the movie btw, never read the comics)

SPOILERS - At times the film was good but it was also had a few unnecasary moments in it is well. Like the inclusion of Stryker and Wolverine. Sure it was nice to see Wolverine wreck some soldiers like a badass again, but it felt like it was shoehorned into the film purely for fan service. And couldn't they find a better way to "kill off" Havok. I mean after he "died" its as if the film totally forgot about him.

I don't understand what you critics wanted or expected out of a movie about mutants with all these different powers. To expect anything less than a CGI spectacle out of a movie called X-Men Apocalypse, based on a villain named Apocalypse is just stupid. How else were they going to show off all the destruction and the use of all these characters powers? Complaining about too much CGI in a movie where CGI clearly was needed is really dumb. Also, I'm starting to think some of you critics didn't pay attention to the movie because Apocalypse plan was clear as day. (SPOILERS) He wanted to start the world over basically with whoever survived and then use Professor X's powers to make sure that no one could betray him ever again. This movie was good in my opinion, although not as good as Days of Future Past. It is almost as good as First Class, but this definitely wasn't a bad movie. The movie only had a few flaws: 1. Wasted characters like Storm, Psylocke, and Angel 2. Jennifer Lawerence's performance (like you mentioned)

it was action for action sake. retreading character plots, and nothing interesting was added. there was so much CGI for an X-Men film, and none of the battles were creative. it felt like going through the motions. so much so that it became boring. especially Auschwitz scene. this was mad disappointing.
@OtakuUnderground92

Too much CGI for an X-Men movie? Well, every X-Men movie has lots of CGI to showcase mutant abilities. Granted there is exceedingly more, but it is justified given the grand scope of the film. I really don't see how anyone could have thought this was boring. Might just be your taste in movies (no offense).

TheNegroShoddy like i said i wouldnt mind if it was creative. The last fight was Magneto floating there throwing metal instead of doing something creative. same thing with Apocalypse. he was turning things into dust then at the end he just stood there and absorbed it. he also had no reason to keep Cyclops alive.by glueing him to the wall instead of sticking him inside like he did earlier.

IDK why ppl act like Bryan Singer makes such great X-movies. He makes mediocre X-movies at best, despite the fact that he has access to all these fantastic characters, themes & story lines. The X-men is arguably a better property than the Avengers. All these X-movies are essentially the same: focus on 1 mutant (Wolverine & now Mystique), basically ignore all the other X-men, introduce new characters, Wolverine shows up, Magneto does a team-up, then Mags betrays those he teamed up with, Mags gets defeated in the end, but is never killed (despite what he's done).

Is nobody going to mention the fact that Magneto literally copied "Xmen Origins: Wolverine"??? A male mutant is tired of being a part of his former team due to differences but tries to fit in society by traveling to a far off place where nobody knows them. Gets a job as a Construction type employee only to have his quiet and peaceful life torn apart when their secret hideaway reveals them to the public and results in their loved ones dying. This in return makes the character get out if retirement and go on a rampage to get revenge. Next to be taken in by a evil mentor that strengthens their powers but tries to use them for evil. Which later on makes the character change their mind about revenge after self reflection and furthermore going solo to wonder alone unsure of who he is inside..... That's the plot for both Wolverine and Magneto!!!

She, Fasbender and McAvoy have signed up again to play these characters again. I don't know how long their contracts are, but they don't need to have a lot of screen time. They should let the new characters develop without the same old tired 3 being the focus.

***** i think it was bland because the story was bad... "oh look a hole in the ground in some random backyard... ops accidental woke up evil mutant... evil mutant promises power to other mutants, they just have to kill everybody els and they go along with it and the only ones that actual do something about the end of the world is a handful of Students/X-men..." and why would you accept Storm as part of the X-man team, if Mystiqe had not showed up she would have helped destroy the world...not to mention Magneto.... he cries about his family gets killed and then willingly participate in killing countless others with no questions asked(wonder why people do not like him?)... and Angel is just a tool..he gets new wings and then helps Apocalypse to kill millions.. the main bad guy is more or less randomly uncovered and no one in the worlds do anything about him wanting to destroy the world...sure their is a finale battle at the end otherwise it is just a lot of crying and pointless storytelling....they even have to shoehorn wolverine in there to get some action going.....boring movie....

My main flaws with X-Men Apoc was mostly too much CGI, very simplistic plot and Oscar Issac although he played the role very well, (hes a really solid actor)but his make-up for En Sabah Nur is horrid, also it feels like Bryan Singer should have used visual effects to make him look alot bigger and taller. I dont get it, cause with the Avengers, Marvel made "Thanos" just look exactly like, Thanos from the comics and he looks good too.

***** Well I never take much notice to all that, DC and Marvel have been ripping eachother off for yrs, mostly becsause of different artists leaving or being poached by the rival company. Mystique in the comics is about 80 years old and is NightCrawlers mother but with how Singer has the x-men heading no they'll be no relation nor will Kurt know that his father is Azazel. Mystique in the comics is mostly a villain well a sub-villain to a greater force like Apocalypse Sinister or Magneto.

I wish Martin had seen the movie and not just Korey because It makes it more fun that way. I thought the movie was just ok, I didn't think it would be amazing in the first place so I wasn't disappointed. It had some really cool aspects to it though that many people will overlook but you know how that is. The CG was whatever, I think it's gotten to the point where X-men powers get so amazing that it's hard to portray them on a larger scale in live action film. Only thing that pissed me off besides Apocalypse, was the lack of Jubilee. She is one of my fav. X-men and they didn't even use her at all. Her actress looked gorgeous and cute but all she did was stand there and say like 1 lame line.

As awesome as the Civil War fight looked, we knew not them was going to die. Even Scarlet With called Hawkeye out for for pulling punches. Yeah, we knew Scott and Jean were going to make and Eric and Charles. I guess Beast, because we saw him at the end of DOFP. Everybody else? Nightcrawler, Angel ( who did die,) Pyslock, Quicksilver or even Raven, because we know Lawrence wants. All of those people felt like could die. Would Marvel ever kill Havoc in the middle of the movie? Would they ever have the future X-Men battling the Sentinels scene? Twice.

I have to question how much of the source material you've read to criticize the power creep in this. Magneto torching a city as you guys says he does isn't something ridiculous. This isn't me crapping on Marvel or calling Korey a Marvel b*tch but honestly to criticize Singer for being somewhat faithful power wise to the characters but not for Marvel neutering their characters to the point where they need a team effort to stop things that some of them can easily handle alone isn't exactly fair imo. These are super powered beings, them using their powers to a somewhat accurate extent shouldn't be seen as too much or ridiculous, if anything its ridiculous for them to be neutered to the extent of being jobbers essentially, Drax for example in GoTG is basically made to look like trash, Drax is far from that to say the least. Heck both Avengers movies suffer from this, the likes of Thor, Hulk and even Ironman are being chained down power wise so much that when other non MCU characters let loose it's now seen as overblown and outlandish when if anything it's the other way around that such characters in the MCU are powered down to such a degree. I look forward to Dr Strange but the neutering that will happen for him will be something else entirely, he might just go from Sorcerer Supreme to a student enrolling at Hogwarts for the first time with the way the MCU downgrades their heroes. You're saying they have to retain some sort of believability, except that is believable. That is a glimpse into the kind of power that is at play in that universe, what isn't believable is Iron man hanging with Thor like they're sparring buddies in the forest scene of AV1 without Thorbuster armor also. It's far more believable for Magneto as you guys put it to do that power wise than for Thor to get downgraded so much or Drax to get hit with what amounts to Jobber status when he's literally punched out Thanos' heart before. Just my thoughts on this and something that i've been seeing coming up quite a bit in a post MoS world.

Apocalypse was always a more extreme version of magneto. Because my only did he believe mutants were the superior beings but he also believed only the strong should survive... so he wanted to cull both humans and mutants he considered weak of mind and body.

The reason you guys might have missed the plot is because its apparently based on YAKUB the creator of the different races, who has now come back to witness his children/creations and their destructive inventions e.g "spears=rockets" its based on actual historical FACT!...look up (MY name) Champollion's shameful letter and see what it says,Champollion was the first European that discovered how to read Egyptian hieroglyphics and when he did he figured out that the Europeans are the "Tamahu" the created ones...created by whom? YAKUB an ancient egyptian. The stone tablet with this information written on it sits in the British Museum today and has been there for centuries.

The Xmen movies are probably my favourites of all the comic book movies. They can be both dark and serious like WB, but also fun and light like Marvel. It's not pigeonholed. As for the movie, just saw it about an hour ago, and I was happy with what I got. Singer's a great director and he's not running out of interesting ideas for the Xmen universe any time soon. I'm really surprised by the negative reviews actually, maybe this is just people bandwagonning because they think the end (of comic book movies) is coming. A shame because this one is probably my favourite so far in the year. Each character's powers got their time to shine in a creative scene and the actors all give good performances. As for JLaw, I had that feeling too. I think it's her line delivery. It's very glide-y. Seeing it as a movie though, you kinda get used to her lower energy and are able to see more nuance. A friend of mine pointed out she might be trying to be blank as to be a sort of act as a template to put other people's personalities on (cause that's her power) and I quite like that theory. Fassbender was good, but I felt sorry for some of the lines/actions he was given in the movie. Almost broke immersion for me. It's weird, where this film doesn't need to do much to have a big effect, it does a lot, and where this film does need to carry out a serious tone, it jokes at itself. Spoiler this paragraph spoiler spoiler! when Eric was yelling up into the sky questioning his existence, I felt it logically made sense, but could have been done better. Just a bit too overdone. Also, when Apocolypse was launching the nukes, it was a huge moment for me and really carried weight. A lot of movies have the villain taking control in the last 15 minute and then the characters stop him in the last, but here he was not messing about. That's why it was so surprising that they put the Stan Lee cameo there. In a scene where the music and acting is telling you to feel frightened and in awe, everyone in the cinema was going "Oh look! haha" which, I gather, is not intended lol. Overall, I'd say this film was a 7 or 8 (an actual 7 or 8, not a 7 meaning average, a seven). Singer was creative, the actors were into it, and the payoff for watching the older films was satisfying. I'd never seen First Class, but now I wish I had. I'd say that you can watch this movie as its own thing, but there's more reward in seeing the older films. Maybe watch 1st and Future as they want this to be seen as a trilogy? Oh yeah, minor problems I had were the usual Hollywood-isms. Characters would whisper really far away and still be heard by other characters, "the single tear rolls down face", and I'm sure there were other things. I like how (mild spoiler) whenever it got into the cliche love stuff the movie snap out of it. Go see it! Best comic book film this year.

Watching a Fox/X-men movie is like buying a jigsaw puzzle, seeing clearly what the picture SHOULD BE on the outside of the box, then watching as Fox Forces the pieces to fit, however they personally feel they should fit. The end result is always a big sloppy mess. Their films also lack authenticity that you see in current Marvel owned projects. What boggles the mind is how the people involved in these projects are unwilling to do any research on these characters. The fact that Mystique is an X-man is hilariously uninformed. Mystique is a villain period and has always been selfish. Either Fox does not understand any of these characters, or they don't care.
