I hope that burger is Kosher because did ANYONE remember that Ben is Jewish? Like, at all? I had someone earlier remind me that Ben's background was actually really important to his character being the only one of the four who had to grow up in a working class family and was teased about his family while the others had a bit more 'ease' (if you ignore the shit they got as well) since they were more upper-class. Also, the whole thing with Ben being unable to 'hide' his powers as compared to the rest of the group. That's a big *shot* THING.

Fantastic Four is one of those comic books that generally speaking should be pretty easy to adapt into a movie for general audiences, especially when you compare it to some of the stuff we've gotten recently (like Guardians of the Galaxy). I don't think it's an utter disaster entertainment-wise, but it is one film-wise (as in, this is not how you make a movie--first year film school students know not to make the mistakes that this movie makes). It's like someone had an outline for a Fantastic Four script and then they just filmed that outline instead of the actual script.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if you'll even see this comment but I want you guys to check out the Moonscope Fantastic Four animated series that was made around the time that the Tim Story movies came out. It was 'based' around the movies (some of the elements and character designs are still there) but for all the things I make fun of it about, it did expand on the story as well as show the FF going to new world and generally doing things that they were already doing in the comics. They also had guest-stars from other Marvel heroes like The Hulk, She-Hulk, Ant Man, Iron Man and others and this was BEFORE Disney bought up Marvel and began their own animated series. I know some of the episodes are up here on KZbin so I would recommend you check them out and then compare those to what you thought of the first FF movie, the Tim Story movies and this. I think the FF CAN be done into a movie; they're a super hero team like any other and The Avengers showed we can have a cast of different powers together and be fucking awesome but what I think it all boils down to is people are too scared to be light-hearted since the FF is, compared to a lot of other Marvel series, is a light hearted series. Yes, it did have its moments of action and drama but the main series never was a hard-ass, dark gritty story. Its not The Watchmen and it shouldn't try that like the former shouldn't 'try to imitate the FF. If people were not so concerned with being topically 'cool' and would just produce a good fucking film, we wouldn't be sitting here today talking about how a movie from the 80s and two films staring Jessica Alba did much better than THIS, especially with all the hype and the shit that went on during the production of this film. I don't want people to stop trying with the FF. They deserve their time in the light as much as any other Marvel super team but we have to get people who actually want to HAVE FUN with the source instead of trying to play off the least important elements that every other movie is doing. Sounds to me that while people were trying to make this film epic or whatever, they forgot two important things; CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND STORY. Hey, Johnny can be Black, White, Asian but I hated when people on both sides turned this into the main issue that we should focus on. Of course we had the racist asshates who said 'JOHNNY CAN'T BE A BLACK!' but we also had the people who were going 'IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH JOHHNY BEING BLACK THEN YOU'RE A RACIST SHITLORD!!!111'. Hey, I would have been okay with it....had they not pulled that shit AS well let it out the only reason Jordan got the role was because he was in favor with the director. And guess what? His addition added nothing to this shit other than 'Well, Johnny can be Black but Ben Grimm is Jewish? PFFT, fuck that shit! Let's forget that like we forgot everything else about his character!' Overall, good review but man. This is heartbreaking that even in 2015 people can't get something as fun as the Fantastic Four right. *UNLESS IT IS THE INCREDIBLES. BOOM.*

Tbh I actually like this movie, ben grimm is my favorite character and I love hear the way he told his best friend that "I'm not listening to ur bs anymore" because he turned his friend into a monster and ben feels pain which makes me feel for him. I'm not saying it is a good movie but I saw the fantastic four in this movie little piece but it was their. His director can do a superhero movie he has done it before and it was great so with this I have to believe that the studio got involved hired people who rewrote/ reworking the movie to their liking and when it failed they were gonna blame the director for their mistakes. I hope u gets a second chance to bring him version of the fantastic four to live and people can see that fox should never be trusted.

You know, I think this movie was shot so that they were 30-year-olds still in university, (they later Show a file on Ben Grimm and his birth date is 1987, the machine that kid Reed Richards uses to teleport the plane is made out of N64 parts, and Reid Richards dad is watching a game it takes place in the 90s.) but to market itself more to the young teen crowd and to avoid or maybe mitigate complaints of their middle school teacher accompanying them all the way to college (even though it still doesn’t make sense why he’s in their high school) they re-edited the movie to make the beginning set in the early 2000s instead of the mid to late 90s, which is the more likely intended date.

This movie, it was the first to make me angry. I've sat through shit like the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Transformer movies and all the Twilight movies because my younger cousins wanted to see it, and while those movies frustrated me they never made me mad. This movie however made me leave with a mad look on my face. Terrible jokes, no sense of a second act, the whole movie is exposition in trying to set up the F4 world, there's no real sense that these 4 are actually a team, but what put the final nail in the coffin for me was Doom. How do you screw up a villain like Doctor Doom so badly? First all he looks retarded, the 2005 Doctor Doom looked better. His motivation for destroy Earth is the same as those emo kids in high school who nobody liked and just wants the world to burn, and also he's the Avatar in this version. In the comics he can control lightning, but that's about it as far as I'm aware of, but here he can control every element. Oh and the way he dies is laughable. Just think of a bug and a bug zapper, that's what it is. This is a definite Fuck You from me. Now Fox give the rights back to Marvel so they can do it properly.

Yeah, I totally get it. The thing about Doom is that he sees how fucked up the world is. He has quite literally traveled all across time to witness the past, present, and future of Earth. And frankly, what he sees frightens him. He takes it upon himself to take over the world, because he feels like he has no other choice but to, because he thinks that the people in charge of countries, corporations and the heroes that protect the world don't have what it takes to not only protect the planet, but to also do what is necessary to protect it. I think that is what Fox was trying to do with this Doom, but we got...Well, you know good and well what we got.

Guys there's a part in this movie where Reed, in the final battle, starts pointing out the obvious like: "he's opening a portal to earth!" "we need to stop him!" shit dialouge, wasn't even laughable, it just pissed me off.

Hulk was entertaining in its own way even though it was subpar. I loved it when he punched the dog in the nuts and when Nick Nolte did that "Nyahhh!" It was bad in an entertaining way. But F4 was just bad bad. Awful.

I was hoping this wouldn't end up being a failure because Marvel fanboys trashing this movie way before it had been released were really fucking annoying. Eh, too bad. I for one can live with drastic changes to the source material as long as -you know- the movie ends up being... good?

darkdowngrade Sometimes Fanboy arguments have merit. Sure it can be annoying, but there's a reason something becomes a fan favorite, and very often they pick up on those problems early on.

darkdowngrade Trust me, it's not changes to the source material that make this movie horrible lol. I know, it's based on the Ultimate F4 series, and I don't have any experience with those particular comics, however, if having Ben Grimm be an afterthought and having Dr. Doom be a *much* less interesting villain is true to the source material... then I now know to *never* read the Ultimate F4 comics lol.
