One of the best things they did with the end shot was fade to black and run the end credits with only the sound of the ocean waves remaining. It made the reveal resonate and haunt more than if they simply faded to black and ran credits without sound or with a score. Excellent discussion!

These films were classics great considering they were made nearly 50 years ago. Great guys for doing this

It's a shame when your most iconic scene is one of the biggest plot twists in the history of cinema
@paulrodriguez8852

I don't think it spoils it? Because you don't know? Where it's going to be in the film or why? Rod serling who co-wrote the screenplay for the film. He was good like in his twilight zone, Night gallery series. At adding shock value to it.

Rod Serling is the reason for the greatness of this movie beyond the camera work. He wrote a television show called The Twilight Zone and then died of cancer too young.

Omg I was mentioned! iIt's the greatest feeling and coolest thing ever!!! :D But I mean it. I want Sammy and Ian cracking open some cold ones together. They slowly drink out of the cans and wipe their lips clean from the cool taste of Pepsi. Ian would probably look over to Sammy, see's that he missed a drop. He would lick his thumb and slowly reach out to Sammy. Sammy would sit still blushing wondering if he is making a move on him, he knows he's not ready for it, but he won't resist either. Then, he will rub his thumb agaisnt his lower lip getting the soda drop, and bringing in his thumb to his mouth and sucking it clean to get a taste of it. Sammy would feel disappointed and look down in embarrassment, but Ian will notice this, and reach to him and push him down on the couch laying back, and Ian would crawl on top of him and look into each others eyes and lock. Sammy's heart is beating as Ian begins go blush red too. They would lean heads together and brace for their lips to touch. *But again no homo*

I agree with your review of this movie on how good it was made for 1968. The same as 2001 a space odyssey released the same year. I heard originally they wanted the ape city society to mirror our own, but because of budget cuts. Which was what producers were doing in the 1960's, 1970's. That's why they had to come up with a primitive ape City. It's too bad they didn't have enough confidence in their films. That they would not only make their money back ? But actually triple it.

I have to disagree on the crash scene and the reason I say that is because it does one belly roll and then levels out. Where have you ever seen a crash from a plane where it does one roll and then a smooth type crash level into the water. Crashes are usually ( not all the time ) out of control. Weather you like it or not, but the best example of a plane crash was the aircraft in the Mummy (2017) With that said I still love the Planet of the Apes.

Before CGI is where you find the real filmmakers. Now, with a big budget, everything is possible. 🌟 As I see the wars that didn’t stop to happen in our planet, even with atomic weapons that can destroy our civilization, Planet of the Apes is growing as a dark prophecy of our future. Eerie as when I saw these films for the first time in a theater, back in the late 60s and early 70s🌟✌️

the new Ape movies were worked on by Weta digital. Weta to me has been better than ILM ever since gollum from LOTR. Thats why the disney films fall short because they use ILM because disney owns them.
