My biggest problem with this movie was never the actors (except Leto). Everyone was great in their roles. They were just never given anything to do. Katana has a sword that steals the souls of its victims. Do we see it? No. How many boomerangs does Capt. Boomerang throw? How many trick shots does deadshot make? That and the generic plot sink this movie.

I think Jared Leto wasn’t bad. I actually like his joker and I can bet that if Ayer was to get his cut released,people would say they was wrong about leto’s joker,just as they were about cyborg when it came to the Snyder cut. Just like cyborg,leto’s joker had a lot of his scenes cut out and the few that we was given,I don’t think was enough to judge him. I feel like had we seen those scenes,it would add a lot to his joker just like how we got to see more of cyborg with Snyder cut. I can bet you Ayers cut wasn’t so focused on will smith and Margot but was probably giving a spotlight to all the characters and adding more to them. WB isn’t going to release the Ayer cut because that version will further the nail in the coffin then Snyder cut did and prove even more on how they were wrong about the way they was going with things

Watching the movie,he felt like a side character that would randomly pop up and didn’t really serve a point of being there. I personally feel like that Ayer cut will change that. A lot of people say the same that you are saying and I can bet if we ever got that cut,I think people will change on him like they did with cyborg. There was to much cut for him that made him feel like he was someone who just randomly remind you that he was in this movie. There’s a more better version of joker in that cut that’s darker and probably adds more to him being in this movie and I feel like that nightmare scene in Snyder cut gives evidence to that. To me personally that nightmare scene at the end of Snyder cut gives us a look at what all these characters and movies was supposed to be from the start had not WB did what they did and it sucks because we will never get to that

@@dominicarroyo6269 I think we did have enough between Suicide Squad and the Snyder Cut. Sometimes, sadly, it really is the actor and not the studio. Cause that's what he was: a side character with no reason to be there. If a cut comes out, maybe, but it doesn't fix Leto's performance. Ray Fisher as Cyborg was a case of not bring able to shine because his stuff was cut. Leto was not. More scenes does not change the problems with his performance. And the movie has other problems besides tone. The plot being a major one. I'm not a fan of Snyder or his Knightmare stuff. Maybe that's he thinks the characters should be, but I don't.

The title cardss introducing the main characters was one of my favorite parts of Suicide Squad, especially when Deadshot is introduced while Action Bronson's "Standing in the Rain" is playing. I thought it was a fun, stylish, and quick way to introduce the primary characters while getting straight into the story without being overly expository. I actually thought Leto's Joker was going to be Jason Todd gone nuts, and turned into the new Joker.

I actually liked and still do like Suicide Squad, unpopular opinion I know. That said I do think there are problems with it. First and foremost were the stakes. They didn’t need to save the world they aren’t the Justice League. In fact there is a moment where Deadshot asks what they are dealing with and Rick Flag tells them a bullshit story that it was a terrorist attack… except that would have been a great set up for the suicide squad. As much as people hated Leto as joker I feel that we should have had him actually do something more than be the object of Harley’s fixation. There is actually a really easy way of fixing both problems. Make it so that Joker has started a full on gang war and released riots onto the city so they send in the suicide squad to assassinate him. It fixes both problems, and bolsters Harley’s story in the movie by giving her a more organic conflict with the Joker where she has to either confront him or get her head blown off.

There is no defense for Suicide Squad. It's based on a fundamentally flawed premise -- that a group of human sociopathic criminals would be a deterrent against a superhuman alien -- and it fails to understand that virtually no one on this "team" is an anti-hero (or redeemable). Diablo was the only person to have a minimal character arc, and unless you give Deadshot kryptonite bullets, then only Diablo, Katana, or Enchantress have a chance of injuring Superman (via magic). People tried to compare this to Guardians of the Galaxy, and it's not the same thing at all.

Just rewatched it.. Suicide Squad has aged well. For instance, I hated Enchantress the first time I saw it and loved her this time. In the intervening years I've become a fan of the actresses and her quirks. Much of our initial horror was because that stupid edge lord was our first Joker after Heath Ledger and it hurt. With more time to get over it Suicide Squad is plainly better than BvS, Justice League, Snyder Cut and WW84. I think it is better than Shazam and Birds of Prey but that's personal taste. I understand the argument for both. Suicide Squad is roughly tied with the equally flawed but crazy fun Aquaman. But yes, the entire Jared Leto trash fire is an anchor around the film's neck. If we cut every second of Joker out of the film we would be talking about WW, Man of Steel and Suicide Squad as the DCEU's few solid real movies.

I read somewhere years ago that WB actually wanted their _Suicide Squad_ to be more like James Gunn's _Guardians of the Galaxy_ film. THAT'S a big part of the reason why they added in the soundtrack and that's why they added in the comedic beats, etc. I also suspect this is one of the reasons why James Gunn was given such complete control of _THE Suicide Squad;_ I'm sure there was some conversation with him along the lines of, "Just make it like you did _Guardians of the Galaxy,_ okay"? Months ago, back when they first started releasing the trailers for this new film, ALL I could think while watching was how much like _Guardians_ it felt. Even some of the jokes featured in the trailer were just reused jokes from _GotG: Vol2._ The one that stands out to me was the one with John Cena's Peacemaker, when they are in the jungle and he and Bloodsport are talking about his "johnson". There was an IDENTICAL joke in _GotG 2_ between Star Lord and Rocket when they crashed on that planet; Star Lord was arguing that if his johnson "had a hand" it would be the best pilot or something like that. My concern is that this will just be an _R_ rated retread of _GotG._ I love the Guardians franchise, but I want this Suicide Squad film to be it's own thing. I'm sure it's great, because James Gunn knows how to craft good films. But I want this crew to FEEL different than just another Guardians movie. And right now all I get are R rated Guardian vibes. 😐

Personally, i don't think 7 years is a huge divide but him and his friends loved the music and loved the movie. Captain Boomerang is my favorite member, so my body demands the version where he's not reduced to (imagine a slow sigh) a brony joke. Seriously tough, comparing the first and second trailer it's clear both versions are very different movies. Instead of comedic and colorful, Ayer's version is clearly dark and gritty, with emphasis on the characters being society's rejects and abused by the goverment. This is the kind of stuff WB was trying a little too hard to distance themselves from after BvS's reception. In one of the trailers, notably, Leto's Joker can be seen very damaged and throwing a grenade during the climax, as supposedly he was going to be a minor antagonist to the team, including to Harley, whose relationship with him was not romantized and her arc was going to end with her leaving him behind. If true, it really goes to show how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I saw it. It’s freaking doooope. Can’t wait to see it at an imax screen. James Gunn filmed a better bar scene with no words, to show that they get along. Rather than the bland joke/story telling of the first one

I’ll be the first to admit I do love suicide squad (2016). It’s an enjoyable movie but no it’s not perfect. I wasn’t hard on it like most people still are. As much as I would love a Ayers cut,I highly doubt we will ever get that. If anything The Suicide Squad was a redo from when WB had a bug up there ass about not letting directors create their vision. I’m glad the new one is really doing good cause DC needed the win. But I feel bad that Ayer didn’t get the freedom like James Gunn did when trying to make his vision. It really sucks that WB didn’t know how to handle their biggest characters like Superman,Batman ,joker and etc.

@@TooCooFoYou that was their biggest problem,was panicking. A lot of people argue with me and tell me that I’m wrong when I say WB was trying to in some fashion copy the mcu. They looked at the money and attention the mcu was getting but wasn’t paying attention to how they was getting that. I was glad that the dceu was dark and grounded in some aspects and serious then the mcu was. I have all the dceu movies and I love them but watching them,it was obvious that WB didn’t know what to do and was to scared to let someone have creative control. I really wish they would have let zack Snyder be the captain of the ship and be charge of these movies because it’s very off putting how these films constantly quickly changes tones and continuity. I enjoy WW84 but it don’t make sense on her flying,going with this no killing rule,the invisible jet. So when you watch BVS,it’s like wtf happen between then and now ? Just because your first two movies into this universe didn’t blow the box office up,don’t mean you panic and lose control.

The story is Enchantress turning on the team actually comes from Justice League Dark comic which is why it feel like it was out of place for Suicide Squad

No this film has not become better with time and is still tied with BVS as their worst films. I don't think people remember how awkward and clunky the dialogue was, how useless 80% of the characters were and no amount of cuts makes it better. Allot of people say how awesome Harley but it's pretty obvious her booty shorts is what people mean by awesome not the character in the movie. I'm all for eye candy but stop pretending it's anything but that. It ranks between BVS and original Justice League as their worst.

BvS (Ultimate Edition) is great in my opinion. Josstice League, Birds of Prey & WW84 are by far the worst 3 DCEU movies. They are trash.

First there was training day... except there were alternate ending, he survived multiple gunshots and he becomes RoboCop. 15 years later we got suicide squad (2016) extended cut wasn't not bad, everyone needs R rated version in past 5 years.

I think Suicide Squad's I Started a Joke trailer was better than the Queen trailer. The song just worked better with the characters and the scenes shown in the trailer. And they had that hunting singing style that was popular in trailers at the time.

The biggest problem with David Ayer who directed the 2016 film is he alienated the demographic on what this movie based on DC comic book is gear towards story wise, Entertainment is one thing but being engaging is another, you've got to write a good script that will give main actors something to work with. Ayer even admitted on his interview that "Its just only for the fans" as if the movie goers aren't smart enough to notice some red flags that are seriously major, so of course the overall audience are going to criticize that version of being lack luster.😒

I like most of the characters and the designs but the generic sky beam and faceless army was not needed. If they had a more stealthy covert mission could have been much better. But I am excited for this new one.

I watched this movie on a long haul international flight and didn’t even even make it to the end before switching to something else, it is absolutely terrible. Some characters (ahem… Joker) can only be described as extremely cringey.

By expressing your true opinions on them, as with any constructive criticism, it can be used to improve, etc. I don't believe anyone truly likes any media they have no complaints about or things they would have done differently.

@@mahoutsuguy863 yeah I get what your saying, but I also think sometimes you reach a point where you see that a movie isn't trying to be anything special. There's no right or wrong, but at that time you can either continue watching it while analyzing everything that's been done wrong and how it could have been done better... Or you can just give into all the cheesiness and and turn your brain off enough to just enjoy the ride. It's not like you can get your time back, so its up to you how you want to spend the rest of the movie. It's frustrating when something you love wastes its potential, but what the use in letting that frustration overwhelm your overall experience? What’s that going to do to make you feel better?
