You are lucky. In my case, i find a 70w rms amplifier on my 400w skytec 15" speaker. Now i use it with a external amplifier and sound much better

TDA7294 driven at its absolute maximum ratings? It's the same for their 18" subwoofer. I had to repair a broken one for a poor kid that didn't know he spent a bunch of money on garbage speakers. Funny thing, is the TDA didn't blow because it was overdriven. What happened is that the bass vibration made one of the filter capacitors break a leg off and the chip amp was hit with unsmoothed DC while operating. Yes, they were too cheap to even use enough glue.

Ah i think i have seen that design too. There are only a handful of schematics that the Chinese put in all their products - obviously ripped off from some US or European design from the 80s or 90s as the Chinese find it easier to copy an old design where the parts can be found cheap and market it as a new product rather than actually invent anything.

Andrei H Chinese make a bad amp. with more distorsions. This speakers look's better on outside with a big radiator and power consumpion 400va, but inside... a little transformer. Sorry for my gramatical errors, I don't speak very good english

I bought these speakers as a pair, and when i got home one of them had died and in the other one the piezo fell to the bottom of the cabinet. I went back to the store and came back with 2 more broken speakers. Suprised that yours still works lol.

wow this is worse then some of the speakers ive ripped apart nothing like finding out that someone had reversed polarity on the woofer than hooked the woofer up to tweeter crossover and tweeter to woofer that setup usually lasts about 20 seconds.. for the tweeter. note to self always check junked speakers for wiring before playing them haha or u end up with a smokey tweeter :)

Hey, the highs will sounds shit, yep cheap driver. Only it's a titanium or compression driver. Piezo drivers won't have a magnet that size.

hey I had a pair of 18" carvins last 45mins lol they were brand new. didn't clip or over drive them. course they wouldn't replace them. so I got my own 18's from china and they been drop it every since.

Did you check to make sure it's not the braided tinsel wire. sometimes with a long time of stress it will get bad connections and if you move them the speaker works. you can buy replacement braided tinsel wire.

Kalle K there is PA subs that go down below 40Hz but its not needed and also car sound is made to play a smaller space not n bigger room etc. and thats why PA sound doesnt need for instance 5000watt

I feel like you shouldn't be using that for many reasons. Firstly, you are eventually going to kill it lol, and secondly, I don't think that you're going to get the right sound out of a PA speaker like that. Id say try making your own, you're fond of making speakers. Make one that has a subwoofer, woofer midrange and high, so you have the large variety of frequency's. :)

Did you buy this speaker used or new if you bought a used I would have checked into that speaker to make sure it's safe and make sure everything's okay before I even used it the way that thing looks you can sort it out and start a fire you must had very good luck that it didn't even touch cuz if they did that can short out the speaker itself wall you're using it I mean with all the rest of speakers going around with that one nobody really realizes that things about the give out and you wouldn't even notice until the last minute

Probably the inductor failed. Never overpower/overload the speakers, and especially if u heard the distortion/overmodulation artefacts always turn down the volume or use an audio limiter, *Cheers!*

It's a PA woofer, so it's not gonna make the biggest difference. besides, the place where it'd make the most difference is 20-30Hz and I bet the speaker never did hit that, and never will (have to). PA woofers have small excursion and similar magnets so the specs shouldn't be too different ;)

+HumbleDeer although the driver is probably an upgrade in quality it does not mean it can just replace another driver when it's broken . It's efficiently and impedance should match if the speaker has too sound like intended by its designer. Driver specs and volume requirements vary wildly. Yes this is obviously a very cheap and crappy speaker not worth the effort .. just wanted to point out it's hardly "correct" even though you did a tidier job then last guy .. peace !
