If I'm not mistaken you can have party chat play to your TV speakers and mute your TV and it will pick up the party chat. And then to the opposite to have your microphone pick up and no need for a second microphone.

The party chat plays on your TV when the mic is not connected, once your mic is connected, it does not play out of the TV. This is the way you have to set it up

Thanks for this video. I followed the steps to a ‘T’ . And I was worried that it wouldn’t work at first. But once I hooked it up, and did a test recording, it worked perfect. You don't need the other stuff in my description. The camera, shotgun mic, etc you don't need. The stuff that's grouped together for gaming is what's needed. Some earphones with a mic work, but most aren't that good. I wouldn't recommend them.

The USB mic goes to your computer and is recorded into the elgato software. That is for the computer to capture your voice, not for the ppl to hear you. You need a regular mic (not usb) hooked up to your ps4 controller with the cables hooked up exactly how I explained, in order for ppl online to hear you.

So from what i understood in this setup unlike many i watched on youtube DOESN'T require you to have a third mic (since you can't use the mic in your headset so it's pretty much useless) to talk to your ps4 party, here you can use the mic in your headset instead, and use another usb mic connected to the pc to record your commentary. Thats correct? Because that would save me the money that i would spend on a third mic just to talk to my friends.

The elgato splitter does the same as the wires connected in this set up. You have to follow these same steps even with the chatlink. The only problem is that ppl constantly have issues with the elgato chatlink because the cable gives out easily and isn't reliable. But if yours works, then no need to get these cables. There is one splitter that is a headphone splitter, and that one is NOT for headphones and microphone. There is ONE other splitter that is supposed to have a mic and a headphones on it. In theory, all I would need is a male>female cable bc you can just use an aux cord and your wired headset. Wired headsets for PS4/XB1 are 3.5 mm and the first female jack is to connect the headset to the controller and the other female jack is for the aux cord to the elgato

Yeah man unfortunately you do need everything I mentioned in this video. It's hard to explain why you need all this stuff unless you're familiar with audio signals, but trust me, this is the easiest and cheapest method. Just make sure to follow every single step exactly

The elgato chatlink cable might only work for headset audio and game/party chat only, not if you have a separate mic I am assuming. Meaning if I had a headset that I wanted to use to record myself and party/gamechat as well or only, then Elgato chatlink cable may be enough. Just a lot of info out there that is not super clear, honestly.

But I ask because why not just use the headset mic to record this instead of having literally a whole other mic? When I see people recording online you never see the other external mic they are using or is it hidden off screen? You just see them with the headphone mic. Seriously really appreciate the help! If you have every cable i mentioned here, and you're still having issues, follow the video step by step again. Every time someone has had an issue it's because they have a cable in the wrong spot or it's not connected all the way.

These cables and the chat link do the same exact thing. The chatlink has been known to break pretty easily. Also, the cable isn't that long, so you have to be pretty close to the capture card. But they do the same thing.

Hey guys, idk how many will see it, but if you just buy the Elgato chat link cable, it’s one cord that you plug into the elgato, plug into your controller, and plug you analog headset in then it records all the party and game chat audio automatically, it’s their solution to having this crazy amount of wires be the work around, GOOD LUCK!

Correct. You still need a separate USB mic (as mentioned in the video) in order for your voice to be captured on the game. The mic on your headset is for the ppl on chat to hear you, but it doesn't send out your voice to the computer, that's why you need the USB mic also

Say you use OBS which is free, to record your vocals. Instead of hooking up the 3.5mm male to male jack to the Elgato itself, couldn’t you hook it up to the audio input on your laptop or desktop? So that way you can use audio from HDMI on your Elgato?

So the answer to your original question is No it won't work. The audio input in the computer is a mic level input. The audio coming from your controller is a line level. They are different types of signals. So honestly even with obs, you have to do it this way.

I have the Elgato HD60S+ and the settings are so different. Can you make a video on how to tweak it with the HD60+ software. I also use Stream Labs OBS so I’m not sure how I’m able to get the audio from my Ps4 since I don’t want to use the Elgato software

In your game settings, you can raise up the chat audio. If that's not on there, lower game sound and increase your entire input audio

This is the best video I’ve seen , my problem is I have a capture card similar to the one your talking about my issue is that my stream can hear me and the lobby chat but Xbox friends can’t hear me. Or the lobby chat . So I’m talking it’s getting picked up on the stream just no one can hear me on the game .

In order to record game chat audio with the game audio, and your voice, you need to have the wires. Bluetooth won't work.

In this video I actually explain that you still need another microphone to capture your voice. You need a USB, such as the Blue Yeti. Connect that to the USB, and use the "commentary" button in the elgato capture software

So say If i wanted to capture my audio while I am playing the game, along side of the party audio, do I need to purchase another mic? Will my friends be able to hear me from the mic plugged into my computer, or would i still be talking into my Xbox mic? That's the part I'm confused about. Is the mic plugged in to the computer used as a voice over after capturing recordings? I want to be able to play the game while recording game audio, my friends party audio, and mine at the same time live.

I just seen a vid where this dude was using Elgato chat link cable cord and he said “you can hear people in game chat and hear game sounds but you will not be able to talk through your mic” with this set up will i be able to talk to my friend through my mic Headset while were playing the game?
