Doug better hope that the smoke detector runs on the batteries that his remote control runs on. Most smoke detectors run a 9 Volt and most remote controls either run on AA or AAA batteries. I would have enjoyed seeing the look on his face when he tries to put the 9 volt battery into his remote control and it does not fit!!!! Lol!!!! Maybe now he will take a walk upstairs to get the appropriate batteries! Lol!!!!!

You could do a lot worse than Doug. He's got a steady job, he's faithful and he's got a great sense of humour. It's implied throughout the show that Carrie actually enjoys his antics, because they bring color to her life and amuse her. Even if she is initially annoyed with them, there's never a boring day in her life between Doug and Arthur's antics. The walkman is a perfect example of this. She's amazed at his laziness and willingness to thoughtlessly screw her over, but when he mentions that he left the walkman on play so she would think she caused her batteries to deplete on her own, you can hear a sense of pride in her voice when she calls him evil. As if she admires how he thought it through and can't help but to be a little impressed with it. She's annoyed, but she's also a bit amused. And yes, Doug has many faults, not the least of which are his eating habits and laziness, but let's not forget the fact that Carrie has some pretty big flaws of her own. There are many episodes that show that, even though they are both deeply flawed people, they still love and care for each other.
