The only catch is that now we (all NCs, that is) are playing within the rules out there, picking this and leaving that so we go with what is best for us. The risk here is that those in power can easily change the rules. Hence the importance of having multiple exit strategies and staying flexible.

Doug Casey states, get qualified and then go where you are unique! Spot on. I finished my qualification as a Chiropractor in California in 1990. I worked in LA for 5 years and could see the writing on the wall for where California was headed. I took a job at the first Chiropractic clinic to open in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1995 and never looked back. I have been practicing in this country longer than anyone else and have played a key role in the leagalizing the profession here. Still going strong in 2021, 26 years later with a Thai wife and daughter and a sucessful practice. As Mr. Casey states, people all over the world are clamoring for high quality services. Spot on again. If you have the skills, and you are willing to work hard, you can build a great life in a developing country, however, don't think you can come to a developing country and bullshit your way through just because you come from a fully developed country. If you don't deliver, you will fail. I have seen so many come and go over the years, being overconfident, while underestimating the ability of the locals to judge for themselves what truly makes for a valuable service. They will figure you out over time if aren't genuine.

The U.S. the best country? Not by a long shot. The number of inquiries by Americans to foreign embassies and consulate requesting information concerning emigrating are at an all time high. A survey a couple of years ago asked over 10,000 middle-income western Europeans this question. "If you could emigrate to the United States and be guaranteed a well-paid job for life, would you go? Over 97% said NO!. Their reasons? A disgustingly inadequate health care system that puts people into bankruptcy, escalating gun violence and (back then) having Trump as President.

However, it depends on the person's said plans (ie: retirement, want to live in a non Western Country for 5-10 years etc.) The Continent as a whole has too much to offer. Otherwise, its history with Europe, Asia and North America wouldn't have been.

Mostly all Westerners can't identify 5 African Countries Flag, or tell you the most widely (non European) language spoken in 10 Sub Saharan Countries. They couldn't identify the Government make-up in 3 Countries (PM or President etc.). They couldn't identify most African currencies. All they know is "Africa" is poor, corrupt, dangerous and majority of the people don't look like me. Don't give Westerners a blank map of the Continent. I'm sure most would fill in South Africa and maybe Morocco. Truly laughable. Very uneducated.

I'll agree with most all of this but I'll quibble over one point. It's the same disagreement I have with Ann Rand. Captains of industry make a huge contribution in creating things. But that is not the same thing as allowing George Soros to buy all the politicians and public officials to promote a communist agenda. Creation of wealth and value is capitalism; but misuse of great wealth and power is how we get to facism, then people mistakenly put the blame on capitalism for the abuses by people like George.

I think a lot of people are against capitalism, but really their problem is crony capitalism. Abuse of the system is the problem. Enforcement of the abusers should be part of the solution, imo. Buuuuut, since they're connected in the system so well, they get the pass every time. I think the best bet is to take advantage as much as you can now while you still have the chance, creating options for yourself in case the system collapses. We can't beat them most likely, but we can cut out if we are prepared and they screw us all over.

Once upon a time it wasn't controversial to debate the causes of the secession movement. Now people think its crazy to talk about anything other than "slavery, slavery, slavery." It's actually not very possible to claim that the US military went to war against certain States because the institution of slavery existed in those States. History shows that slavery itself, existing where it did at the time, was not an issue even being seriously contested at the federal level. From a purely constitutional perspective, this makes sense as the US government was not granted any power to abolish or regulate slavery in any State. This is why the 13th amendment was passed later, since before the southern states were crushed and forced into compliance, amending the constitution on this point would have been a hopeless cause. Far from abolishing slavery in the states where it existed, the Supreme Court's ruling in 1857 suggested that even the territories could not be regulated by the federal government on the issue of slavery. Once secession had begun, the proposed amendment to reassure everyone on this point, in a failed attempt to appease the concerns of the South, was approved by Congress and sent to the States for ratification. This amendment, supported by Lincoln, reads as follows: “No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State.”

The problem is leaving the U.S. because of its division and weakness is much more difficult than most believe. If the dominance of the US falters it will leave ruptures world wide. It will embolden oppressive and/or revolutionary movements. When u leave, wherever u go may end up being much worse than the US in fast order

@@marcind4644 I mean what about the Caymans, Malta, Singapore, Malaysia, Monaco, UAE, Taiwan, Thailand etc. There are plenty of low tax and low regulation countries with enough stability. Hell, I feel more safe walking in the worst areas of Manila than I ever do in any inner-city in the U.S. I simply do not accept the premise that high taxes and authoritarianism is a prerequisite for stability. Its simply that the western world's cycle of dominance has run its course. The eastern world will dominate at least for the next century and possibly beyond that depending upon circumstances so make the right moves and let the chips fall where they may.

Interesting interview. One comment: what Casey says about the civil war being more about economics is misleading. The non-slavery rationale for the war was introduced after the war was over. It was basically a retconn. If you look at the speeches and writings of Jefferson Davis (Confederacy President) and Alexander Stephens (Confederacy VP) before the war, they are quite clear about the preservation of slavery being the motivating force for secession.

I've visited all over the world, and I genuinely enjoy globally cultured/educated Indian guys to hang out with or go to a dance party (like even just all dudes...they're a barrel of fun). As for the country itself, it's just frankly a sh*thole. I went to India twice for about 2 months each time and managed to get Hepatitis A the first time (despite estimated ~90% chance of immunity from previous vaccination) while only EVER drinking bottled water and ONLY eating food inside seemingly reputable restaurants with AC, and during visit #2 I had two separate stomach bugs. Meanwhile, I've been to Cambodia, Indonesia, you name it and never got sick or almost ran over. Even if none of that happened, I'd still feel the same way about it. Have you seen them drive? India has lots of potential and every individual Indian person is unique and not comparable, but on the complete whole it's even less "civilized" than say mainland China or IMO even Vietnam. I've had many cultured, heavily educated Indians say exactly this themselves, completely unprompted too.
