It is hilarious when people act like these rosters fall from outer space and land in front of Tomlin every September. Tomiln is introduced to these guys for the first time and Omar Khan is out there putting name tags on everyone so Tomiln can get to know his team.

The fans finally got Canada fired last year. Smith comes to PGH and looks like Canada 2.0. After losing to AZ, NE, and Indy, Tomlin finally replace Trubisky with Rudolph. Last year, Najee complained to the media about his teammates. This year, it was Queen, et al. Then, you have our playoff record … abysmal. Maybe it’s not Tomlin, but he is the common denominator. He’s too good to fire, but not good enough to get to the next level … unless he’s got top notch OC and DC, and veteran leadership in the locker room.

And those playoff wins were gifts: In one of them Cincinnati completely imploded when all they had to do was nothing. Instead, Burfict couldn't help himself and the Bengals gifted the Steelers over 30 free yards in penalties to put them in field goal range. Admittedly I think we would have beaten Denver the next week if the Bengals didn't injure all of our star players. Ben hobbled that whole game and we didn't have Bell or AB. The next one was against a Miami Dolphins team that was just trying to keep their heads above water. Ryan Tannehill tore his ACL and they were down to a backup QB who also got knocked out of that game. The last playoff win by the Steelers was a pre-Mahomes KC team also notorious for winning seasons and one and done playoff exits. The Steelers didn't score a single touchdown and won the game. KC was so embarrassed by that game that their very next move was to trade up and draft Patrick Mahomes, and it solved their playoff exit problem entirely.

Mike McCarthy has a more recent playoff win than Mike Tomlin and genuinely has way less talent. Their only good receiver this year was Lamb, and they don't have a single RB that would start for another team. They only have one good defensive player. I don't think McCarthy is a good coach either, but he has more valid excuses.

Tomlin picked these two 'sofa-set-out-by-the-curb' QBs, they were not forced on him. Mason Rudolph saved the '23 season by closing 3-0, getting a 7-7 team in the playoffs. Under Rudolph, Freiermuth and Pickens exploded, and the running game surged. Despite being jerked around by Tomlin, Mason Rudolph went 8-4-1 as a starter. But at the end of '23 Tomlin was too stubborn and vain to keep Mason Rudolph. Mike Tomlin's ego and stubbornness is his biggest enemy.

In the last 6 playoff losses, Steelers have been out scored in the 1st Quarter 73 to 0!!! Thats on the coach! Oh and guess what, Big Ben was there for those first 4 losses. They have been trying to fix the O line for 7 years, WTF Who cares if he leaves. You have to take a chance and bring in someone new with an offensive mind. Coaches have to have players. In the NFL, a QB is key. The other thing that pushes teams further is an excellent OL. Pittsburgh is a bit sloppy on the penalties though.

I understand people's problems with tomlin but he's done pretty good without a real qb look at the roster Pittsburgh has a good team but they need a qb it should be seen as achievement that he won 10 games and made the playoffs instead of having a top 5 pick with russ and fields as his main qb options 2 guys nobody really wanted this year the fans wanting him fired don't understand how bad it can get when you fire a good coach and instead of solid seasons you end up multiple 10 plus game losing seasons

I absolutely agree with you Doug! There are many reasons why it’s not his fault. Coaches coach. Players play. Once he gets his franchise quarterback I believe it will work itself out. Also-we didn’t have a few of our starters which would have made a difference. Another thing-there were a few players who had a virus’s the day of playoffs. Which is why they were so flat! He had a Hall of Fame top 10 QB from 2007 until 2018, and he won only 3 unimpressive playoff games after he lost Super Bowl 45 in 2010-2011. From 2007 to 2010 he had Bill Cowher's players and Bill Cowher's coordinators. Dick Lebeau is a hall of fame coordinator. Bruce Arians went on to win a Super Bowl on his own with Tampa Bay and made the NFC Championship with the Cardinals. Tomlin has accomplished very little once Cowher's players started retiring and he forced out those two coordinators.
