Taking a taxi home after the concert, I said to the driver that I loved the richness and power of Doug's voice and felt he was like "an Aussie Tom Jones" - to which the taxi driver replied, "No mate, Tom Jones is a Welsh Doug Parkinson!" I guess I can't argue with that!

I meet Doug parkingson in the mid 90s and ended up with his entourage partying in his hotel room afterwards his gig.. I said to him Tom Jones eat your heart out.. he said to me do you really meen that I told him yes I admired your voice all thru my teenage years the 80s and I am also a musician.. Doug said to me thanks so that meens so much.. he was such a down to earth bloke .. sadly missed and what a talent.. rest in peace.. glad to hear we thought the same and got to tell him ..

Just saw him (1.6.18) at Laycock Theatre Gosford......gobsmacked by the talented voice he still has - after what? 50 frikken years!!!!! ....his choice of songs were great and the singers and musicians he played with were nothing short of amazing talents themselves. Small venue but I chalked this up as one of the most quality performances it has been my pleasure and privilege to attend. Sincere thanks Doug - from the very bottom of my heart. Unforgettable WORLD CLASS legend of a singer who still somehow manages to deliver to his loving Aussie audiences just as he did for me before in those wild Taxi Club days. =)
