Every now and then, you make a guess that turns out brilliantly. It's luck more than anything, really. That's what happened to me after my starting entry of STARE and DOILY. I opted for OUTEN simply to get intel on the gray letters I had and to test my remaining vowel (U). (Also as a tribute to my grandmother who instead of asking someone to turn off the light switch would ask them to outen it.) After the surprise of getting four greens, the answer of OFTEN was obvious. Another solve in four.

Luck does help. Hard mode didn't allow an eval word, but four is still better than seven. loupe-enjoy-mento-often was my chain today.
