One of my best solves. Got it in three. After my standard STARE (which got me nothing) and DOILY (got the I and Y in place), I mentally worked through consonant possibilities and decided that WHINY might be the actual answer. And it was!

Today's puzzle gave me trouble. After the 4th guess I had only 2 letters locked in. I had my doubts but, with the letters already eliminated, WHINY seemed the only choice for the 5th guess. Great solve, Doug! I got it in four with an apparently too-lucky guess on four. Here's what I did, with WordleBot skill/luck scores: Wordle 1,028 4/6* ⬛⬛⬛🟨⬛ EERIE (54/28) ⬛🟨⬛🟩⬛ PIANO (84/40) ⬛⬛🟩🟩⬛ SKINT (92/19) 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 WHINY (0/95) WordleBot Skill 59/99 Luck 45/99 Apparently, my guess of the correct word on four was too risky, and I should have gone with CLING or some other word with G, so I got zero skill points on that. Oh, well. I'm just happy I got it. 🤷‍♀️ Your suggested starting word for tomorrow, BRISK, has a lot of good consonants. I hope it serves us all well!

Knowing that CINCH, FINCH, PINKY, and WINDY have already been used, I thought of 7 other answers (in the order given below): DINGY, PINCH, WINCH, WHINY, DYING, VYING, and ICING After my 3rd guess (DINGY), there was only one possible answer. Not sure if you've already used it for a Fearless Friday, but if not, I think XYLYL would be an excellent choice for that! It's a word my nephew told me he sometimes used as a challenge, and I would sometimes use it as a first guess when I used to play Crosswordle, where you have to build a Wordle game in reverse.
