Absolutely love it!! I appreciate this one even more, since it's been pretty rare to see any live performances of Doug doing this song. RIP to yet another great artist we lost too soon.

My ex husband left me and my 2 year old son for another woman, and this came out not long after, when he did come see him and this came on he cried all the time, that was almost 29 years ago. This is a real heartbreaker to me just listening again after all these years,, it still has had a bad impact in my life, and mine son

Hopefully you didn't try to shack up with a fake dad

One of the seminal classics of country music. A real gem. This is what country music is all about. -telling a heartfelt story in an unforgettable manner in a way that would make even the most hardened burst out crying. Kenny Rogers released it first but only Doug's raw delivery elevated it to immortality. 12-5-2022
