I'm sorry...but those folks who say " Doug is showing off / can't play / Victor is playing circles around him / NAMM is only for top notch players " etc - clearly have NO IDEA what's going on here. Both are amazing artists who just use different ways to express themselves. Doug uses sound ( or effects ) as his palette , Vic uses more technique as his ; both being tasteful and musical in the process. If you think NAMM is just for the super chops / musical elite - then you're kinda missing the point of music itself , I think. Just a thought.

+mygr8afro ...and this whole experience wouldn't be possible if not for two amazing musicians and their individual styles. "Showing off!"...only an imbecile could say that, not knowing what they're watching and listening to. This performance soooo cool!!!

does anyone know the chord progression?
@ruariforrest28818 жыл бұрын
It's based around an A minor. Try an A open string plus the minor third at the 15th and 14th frets. then barr at 14th with the B in the bass plus the d on the 17th on the G. Then descend to the Bb at the 13th plus the on the 17th. Thats the rough progression.
@ruariforrest28818 жыл бұрын
Sorry not B and Bb but F# and F at the 14th and 13th. it follows a similar progression to a song called Silencer by Dub War

Victor Wooten's surprinsingly impressive melodic playing totally ruined by Wimbish's ridiculous Digitech Whammy nonsense. The former should stop what he normally does, and the latter should never do what he did on this video again.
@ezrazski8 жыл бұрын
all love for the bass playing geniuses here. wooten shows his dissonant self, and his weird timing, which to my soul makes wimbish the better overall player. it's almost not close to me. wooten is on the wrong instrument. some of my best boys, best bass players i know, swear by wooten but i just don't hear it. he plays the wrong notes enough that it doesn't cover for his chops IMO

Dough is obviously an excellent musician but this kind of gig is for real top notch players, technically and artistically. Put him with Mr. Wooten is not a good fit and people should know how to say no to some situations. Anyway, Victor is still the boss and was humble and gentle enough to include him while jamming.
@Bassic7789 жыл бұрын
Fernando Petry Official So it's your opinion that Doug is not a top notch player technically and artistically? I think that artists that have hired him, i.e., Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, Annie Lenox, would beg to differ.
@ohhhrayos_esjulio33239 жыл бұрын
You should know that Doug is actually quite the session musician himself having worked with The Rolling Stones, Seal, Madonna, and In Living Colour just to name a few. Not to mention his many endorsements as an artist. He's just a less traditional player whereas Wooten maintains a more contemporary style but im sure Wooten had as much fun jamming with him as he would've with any other talented musician.
@Bassic7789 жыл бұрын

+Asaf Morales I get what you're saying man, but it is a BASS, meant for the lowest end of the bands personality. Not trying to sound degrading or anything, but the lead guitars are at the very tip (usually) and the bass is at the very back.
@basgitaar63819 жыл бұрын
@ Austin B: You understand what I mean. Bass is in the low frequencies. If you want to solo the high notes; play a guitar! I'm not saying that these players aren't any good, but for me this is not bass playing..
@6672rock10 жыл бұрын
Amazing, isn't it? For all the effects, tricks, tones and contorted facial expressions Doug used, Victor used one tone, didn't act like a show-off, and still played circles around him. Great players don't need a bunch of bells and whistles to get the job done.
@M.Holland9 жыл бұрын
Doug is an insane player. and yes, he loves fx, but does it make him worse then victor? He just try to color his tone and give it more expresion. I had a chance to play a gig with him as a suportband... and I must say, it was so amazing! :o
