IN THIS VIDEO VICTOR WOOTEN PLAYS A 4 STRING FODERA YIN - YANG, STANLEY CLARKE PLAYS AN ALEMBIC TENOR BASS ( WHICH IS TUNED HALF AN OCTAVE BELOW THE USUAL EADG TUNING ) MARCUS MILLER IS PLAYING A FENDER CUSTOM SHOP MM SIGNATURE 4 STRING...REST IN PEACE MICHAEL JACKSON...

I know it’s been like 7 years, but what exactly do you mean by half an octave?
@Tobias-fe4ji3 ай бұрын
I think the term „tenor bass“ usually refers to tuning the 4 strings as A-D-G-C (instead of standard tuning E-A-D-G). But higher, not lower.

Yeah, these guys are on my all-time list too. I'm a life long career bassist so it's always a kick to meet these guys at various shows. I remember once being asked by Bill Dickens if I played too. After seeing him play I could only respond with, " not really". Sometimes it's a fine line between inspiration and intimidation.

+Jonathan Lamb From experience, what happened was the right hand camera went down, probably a loose cable. The cam operators can't hear any directions, so they just keep shooting their mark. The guy on the right hand camera probably didn't know his feed was down. Meanwhile the director is pulling his hair out, and resorting to boring shots of the keyboard player until he can get someone down there to fix the lost feed.

Well.... three fantastic Bass players on one stage. Perhaps not something thats always necessary. I believe one good able bodied Bass player is all it takes to drive any song in any genre in any band.I speak as a fellow bass player. However I know one thing, small minded perhaps even envious musicians have for decades made fun and jokes about bass players saying its an easy instrument to play. This has been taken so much to heart I believe that scores of players have invested in basses with upwards of five, six even eight strings or more.WHY? The fact remains bass guitarists play a vital role in most genres of modern popular music and the worlds most memorable songs were recorded on four string basses.ask stanley clarke. BLESSINGS....
@stylisticsbluemagic591010 жыл бұрын
I agree, 4 string bass guitars are all ill play, any more strings is not needed at all...

Greetings..I totally agree with you. Ive frustratedly tried to explain this for years to those for whom the penny has not yet dropped(or should I say for whom the real essence of true appreciation in music has not yet become a reality). I can only suggest that the purchase of decent quality audio equipment might help biased individuals to hear more clearly what the true dynamics are within the music they listen to and that includes the indonesian/ malaysian gamelon....ha ha..BLESSINGS....
@ewancraib841210 жыл бұрын
For the most part I agree with you all on the "number of strings issue" when it comes to bass, but as a predominantly 5 string player, I have to say I find the extra low's from a 5 can help fill out music at times. I did play 6 but mainly to make some things easier, now I'd rather improve my playing by having to work harder on less strings ;) and who knows, one day I may lose the 5 string and go back to 4 all the time, not just when I play my fretless
@aviolaist6 жыл бұрын
It doesn't really matter (unless it creates problems), I could explain why people do it and it makes a lot of sense which is why people but them, however just know it doesn't matter and the best bassists can get it done with just four, sometimes THREE. It doesn't matter. If it accomplishes what you want, good. That's all that needs to be said.

You do realize that there are multiple cameras, not just one guy running around looking like a fool. Plus, shots are determined by the director, the camera crew are given an area or person to focus on by the director while there is a tech who switches between camera feeds as told by the director. Final product, blame the director.
