As a manual purist, I rented an e-gear gallardo. Super underrated experience. All you could read in the 2000's and to date was how awful that transmission was. Yes, the maintenance schedule is certifiably insane, clutches every 12-20k. But the feeling is absurdly fun. Under full throttle, it is as if the entire car stops, time as well, when you pull that upshift paddle. Like all 4 wheels cease to move while it's shifting mechanically. It's insane and feels dangerous, and is ridiculously fun.

@06VistaBlueGT12 ай бұрын
I can honestly say what you wrote about clutches ever 12-20k is not necessarily true or accurate. It "can" be depending on the car. Early pre-LP cars were thrashed and have deferred maintenance (i.e. can't afford it). But you find the nicely kept example, and do a few things while driving and you can make the clutch last MUCH longer. How do I know? My wife owns a 2009 LP560-4 (I know he LP has the newer clutch and is more durable). She's had it for over 4 years. Came with 7,500 miles on it, 2 owner car. Lara software showed the clutch was at 50%. We found out (from the Lara report) that the first owner did 5 launches in Corsa. Each launch shaves 10% off the clutch. 2nd owner was a guy in his 60s who drove it sparingly. So this makes total sense. Today her clutch is at 48%....4 years later. 😳 Car has almost 12k on it (live in PA so not a year around car) Barely any clutch wear. How? A few tips. -NEVER DRIVE IN AUTO! It slips the clutch too much. Always drive in Sport using the paddles. ALWAYS! -NEVER reverse up an incline, even the slightest. Reverse REALLY slips the clutch worse than Auto. -Drive it like it has a clutch pedal. What I mean, before you pull the paddle for the next gear, take your foot off the accelerator. -GET A SPRINT BOOSTER! There is mixed results on these things but it made a world of a difference on her car. The jerkiness of the EGear is gone and it's much smoother driving around which helps with gear changes. But the EGear is seriously underrated and in time people will want these as it adds to the overall visceral driving experience of the car. And also having a V10 doesn't hurt either (and her car has an Armytrix Titanium exhaust) 😎👏
@knutemotorsport3 ай бұрын
One important thing Doug failed to mention: the original 5.0L Gallardos had a higher-pitched and better-sounding exhaust note thanks to their even firing order. The later 5.2L engines switched to an odd firing order, which gave it a deeper baritone.

The unfortunate reason these are cheap: These cars were fitted with improper catalytic converters which would break down over time, and suck catalytic material back into the engine. Compressions issues, valve seals dump oil after certain mileage, and 04-05 is known to have excessive rod bearing wear around 40-60k miles. Which is a shame, because they got better in 06+ and sound so much better than the 5.2L motor which succeeded this. Probably the most bitter-sweet supercar, the sound is in a class of its own

Also the auto transmission in this car is no good.
@ULookAngryGaming3 ай бұрын
@@javierpalomares1774 it’s substantially improved in 2006, with shorter gear ratios and improved clutch wear. The issue with 04 and 05 is the gearing is 60 MPH in first, so you can imagine what that does to an automated clutch from just moving slowly. Also, reverse is 1:1 with first gear, so you’re really putting some wear on a clutch just by reversing!

Overnight thousands of single women and lesbian couples strongly inquired about Doug’s love juice. Mark Cuban jumped on the opportunity and offered Doug 1.5 million a sample. After much deliberation, Doug’s wife green lit the business venture. With a year Doug eminences a huge fortune. To celebrate Doug purchased Jay Leon’s F1 Mclaren. Last thing I remember, Doug did a video. “Thiiiiiissssssss is Myyyyy F1 Mclaren”

It’s “cheap” because the e-gear automatic was widely regarded as one of the worst transmissions put in a supercar. Also depreciation is relative, these were under $200k new, < 60% depreciation in 20 years is not too shabby.

I love that they used the V10 in the Audi S6 C6 and you can pick them up super cheap. also in the S8, R8 and RS6 Used Lamborghini Gallardos go for 66k-90k in these years. Used S6s goes for 5-12k obviously different sets of buyers; and anyone would take the Lambo if they could afford it; just saying it's cool to pick up a mechanically similar engine with 435hp instead of the Lambo's 500hp for a steal.

Negative these are not the same motors used in the s6. Might be a 5.0l v10 but go do some research on the lambo built 5.0l and you will find internally very different. Lots of people make this same mistake.
@brookvillekansas902 ай бұрын
@@Hewardrv8 close enough for 10k forged internals in Lambo yes, but 75% mechanically similar, it was later revealed. Still an awesome motor that originally was developed by Lamborghini. Tho I understand it as not a welcomed collaboration at first. Even Doug and Bids calls it a v10 lambo motor. Still in the end not a lot of V10 cars out there in the wild. It might be cope but that v10 sounds similar when floored.

They put the reverse button to the right to prevent accidentally pressing on it . Not sure how a Lambo would handle pressing the button while you're going 200 on the free way.... but I'm betting not well. My brother's Tiguan has a button for a parking break instead of a lever in the center console. Guess what happened? His wife accidentally pressed on it while he was driving 80 on the freeway...

I agree with Doug, I loved this car growing up. It was THE Lambo and there was only the SE version then the Superleggera. So, the issue with this car that's listed for sale is the clutch life is only 28% left, with these older E-gear transmissions once the clutch is under 40% you should start looking to replace the clutch as it will wear out much quicker, you have to drive these cars with a certain technique, this means that every red light you come to, or busy stop signs you'll have to put the car into neutral and then when you can go, engage the gear again, this helps reduce clutch wear. The Superlegerra had better software and I think the 04s' can get the software update which would help. Its current bid is $71k... That's a good price, anything above that and I'd be wary as you'll be about to spend roughly 6-9k on a clutch replacement.
@Myo-jf7jx7 күн бұрын
I was looking at this video and I didn't understand the gear numbers either, but I just realized that it showed how the shift paddles worked, if you hit the right paddle it go from 1st to 2nd, from 2nd to 3rd and so on, hit the left paddle and you'll go the other way, it's interesting that they did it that way instead of just having the + and - symbols on each paddle
