I bought one of these. I bought the silver smoke version and it’s completely awesome. It has become my “go to” guitar, cause you can literally play anything on it! I put a Vegatrem VT2 tremolo on it and now it’s perfect!

Thanks for the sweet demo. Love the tone. Love the combinations. Pickups sound great. I really want to try a 12 inch radius neck. My Telecasters are 9.5. Love your sound and playing. But I will say that the first thing I do when I pick up my tele or any tele is to get that country twang out of the bridge and see how my chicken pickin sounds. Then I go to the neck pickup for some nice soft jazz tones. I’m sure this Player Plus would be great for both. Thank you.

Hey Thomas! Thanks for taking the time to share your kind words - MUCH appreciated. This guitar is so good I bought another one which I'm adding an Evertune bridge on. In all honesty, it is a bit fatter in the bridge pickup than most of my other teles, which is key to the amazing lead tones in that position. In the neck, it is shockingly Stratty, so it is a bit of a different bird, again one that I love enough to have a bought a second one! THANKS again ~ Doug:)

If you could pick a solid state amps to go with this guitar, which would it be? The Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, the Mustang gtx 100 or 50, or the Boss Katana 100 or 50 or EX50? Jim Haubert here, dang, now I want a Tele, great tone, what are you running that through? Had a few of them in my life, my first good guitar was a late seventies Fender Telecaster, wish I had that one back now that I can actually play, that taper on the back has me intrigued!!! Is that a C neck, nice and slim? Congratulations on the LP Goldtop, I know what you think of Silverbursts though, I am a Fender, Gibson guy but I really want to try an Ibanez Jem, maybe do a piece on one of them, cheers Doug, you're the best bud!!!

Hey JIm. The main distorted tone is my Boss GT-1000Core, which just kind of delivers at every turn. I also love all the Fender stuff, and as it turned out I didn't need the Marshall for this video. Yes, I'm sure you're missing that '70s Tele! And yes, the body cut is super comfortable when sitting for extended periods of time, which is kind of what this guitar demands. MANY thanks for the kind words on 'Honey' and I cringe every time I think about insulting the looks of your much prized 'silverback' - my apologies! I love the idea on doing something on one of the JEMs, they are really great instruments and do an array of stuff that people might not expect. Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts... I have the larger GT-1000, but the CORE lives on my desktop and I'm just amazed at how much it does with so little real estate. Each modeler has its own vibe and I love and migrate between them, but that particular lead (and distorted rhythm) sound is nuts. Thanks for the kind words, at the end of the day we're all guitar fanatics and music fans, and the best part of it all is that we're in this thing together and I love that. Is this the version with the really dry necks? Wanted a tele and went to the local shop to try some out, and all of them were awful (granted the shop gets the guitars and sticks them on the wall, they do nothing with set up, so the strings are dead and action high for my taste) felt no difference between the squires and MiM , american felt a tad bit better but still felt like a cheap toy compared to my fender start deluxe i bought just a few years ago (last year of deluxe before it became player plus)had no twang or any of the common tele/strat tones. Was very hard to play and that dry neck was just awful and felt cheap.

How would you compare the sound of the "noiseless" pickups on the Player Plus to the traditional pickups on the Player?
@DougDopplerMusic
@DougDopplerMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Yo Waveman MAV! BRIDGE PICKUP - perhaps the best lead bridge pickup on ANY tele I've played. I DO have a Player Series TELE, but it is at my techs, so I can't do an immediate side by side test other than to say the girth, tone, and lack of noise this pickup delivered was awesome. NECK PICKUP, while I didn't end up cutting the demo, I got some of the most extreme Jimi-tone out of the neck p'up using the Marshall that was in frame in the video. Character and definition are the words that come to mind. In my recollection both pickups gave 'more' compared to their Player Series counterparts. Hope that's not too vague, but without the other guitar here that's about the best I can do in this moment. THANKS for watching and taking the time to reach out! Cheers ~ Doug:)

@@tendingtropic7778 Yo!!! Sorry for not getting back faster. So... GREAT question. My thoughts are as follows, and this could be a bit long! I LOVE Strats and Tele was a language I learned to speak as I expanded my musical horizons. Started with a Tele straight into a Tweed Deluxe - not the kind of sag you get from a Blackface amp, and it is a super fast attack without much forgiveness. In so doing it really allowed me to hear and fall in love with kind of the purest form of Tele - no special sauce, just you, the cable, and an amp. TOTALLY intimidating until I understood not to try and play it like a Strat. That said, the neck pickup in a Tele can be VERY Strat-esque, so much so that with the right gear it would be next to impossible to tell the difference. All that to say I'm NOT a Tele purist, but I DO love that which make the Tele a Tele and the pickup configuration, including the way that interacts with the cavity under the strings is a key part of the experience for me. I have a guitar here that has yet to get the proper amount of attention that IS a Nashville Tele and per your question I need to explore further. WITHOUT having done so, when I want to 'think Tele' I want to intuitively pick the bridge, middle, or neck positions. When I want to 'think Strat', I want to have the five-way switch. They ARE different sounding guitars acoustically, especially since ALL my Strats have a trem, and I have NO hard tails,. So, without further exploration, I would have to say that the suggested route (other than both) would be the traditional Tele configuration, which on this guitar is already a bit customized (and nicely so) per the pickups. Like I said, this would be long. Short version is that when I want to pick up a Tele I want it to do a specific thing, ditto for a Strat. I love hybrids, and obviously the Nashville Tele was popular enough to roll into this line. Hope that helps - have an AWESOME Thanksgiving ~ Doug;)
