I had my sisters 4 children for a little under a year, plus I have 3 children, so I had 7 children, and when they were first placed with me, they were all 7 and under. I had laundry days to keep up and taught the kids who were old enough to help with putting their own laundry away. I would also have color coded hampers and hangers to make it less stressful. Honestly, doing laundry is my favorite chore and super therapeutic for me lol I know Im weird. I also do all sheets, blankets, and towels every Sunday where I'd also have the kids help with that. I taught them to take their sheets, pillow cases, and blankets off their beds and place them in the hallway by the laundry room. Even my 3 year olds were able to help out, and they absolutely loved it. Her children are all definitely old enough to help out. Children thrive when they are taught life skills. Now I have a 15,13 and 10 year old and they are very self sufficient. I still have a routine, but they are all very helpful.

A translation of everything she says “I didn’t do laundry this week”- sick kids in dirty clothes “My house is a disaster”-sick kids in dirty house “It helps when you don’t clean out you’re van for show and tell” sick kids in dirty van “Bodhi missed out on pj day at school”- bodhi misses out because I didn’t pay attention to him “I was loading yesterday’s vlog” - I ignored the email from bodhis school about pj day because I did content instead “I’m going to attempt to do something today”- I’m always on social media “I did my hair and makeup”- I didn’t do the laundry or cleaning “This is naveas room”-my kids have no sense of personal space and safe spaces, someone will invade you’re privacy Digs through entire bedroom instead of general tidy and clean- doesn’t trust the kids “Rest of the Halloween candy I ordered” - I almost exclusively feed sugar “Going to laundry mat”- can’t prioritize time for the kids and it’s better for content “I spoil kids when they’re sick”- I don’t care if they get sicker “I give them whatever they want”-I think I’m a good mum but I’m lazy and irresponsible to actually guide kids into healthy futures

How old are the kids?
@anagarcias4469
@anagarcias4469 2 жыл бұрын
I have a son who was at first an unexpected kinship placement. He came when he was 3 and for the first three years before being adopted we didn’t even post him on Facebook or tell our extended family why he was with us. Nobody asked more than once either. He was extremely food insecure, like to the point he had to do a refeeding protocol inpatient at the hospital. For years I packed him a little lunchbox with healthy but easy open snacks that were just for him. He would drag that thing like a security blanket and occasionally would eat something from it. He is 9 now and no longer needs it. Teaching him to cook meals and take care of his own needs is empowering for him and all of my biological kids. No kids thrive off of sugar and lawlessness IMO. We can’t hoard our kids just because it makes us feel more comfortable knowing we can do everything for them. Ugh
@anagarcias4469

I wanted to add that I have talked to adults who grew up in foster care and some who probably should have been removed. The one thing they all had as their number one fear was being alone🙁 that someone would change their mind or some disaster would happen and they would be on their own. So all of the “spoiling” is likely sending a message that without Mom they are basically helpless and useless. Teaching them how to take care of themselves, handle money, advocate for themselves, these are skills that make people confident and secure intrinsically. Gifts and being used make people insecure, ego fragility, and entitled.

I raised two girls in the (what was then a new “idea”) time of “Everyone is a winner! You are special-in fact-more special than everyone else! You are smarter than anyone-including your teacher! Everyone gets to be in first place!” Etc. ad nauseam. I always thought that was an inadvisable thing to do. I told my kids that they were incredibly special-to us. To their family and loved ones-incredibly special! But not so much to the world. The world doesn’t care how special you’ve been told you are. In the grand scheme of things no one is terribly special. As a parent it’s my job to prepare them for the harsh reality that is the world outside. Period! Love you lots Josh and family!💕

I also have a bad septic tank (clogged drain field) at my house and we've been dealing with it for over a year (thankfully we're finally getting it fixed in the new year) and I can assure you that, once its filled up, you absolutely cannot "just do a couple loads a day" lol. We've been getting it pumped every month and once the tank is full it will back up into the house if we use the water too much. Also there's only two people in my household. Also to add since lots are confused: When you're not on public sewer/water your water comes from a well and your waste goes to the septic tank. Her water is fine, her tank likely cannot handle the number of people flushing/showering/15 loads of laundry a day. That's why she can use the faucet for water and cooking, but doesn't wash dishes or clothes at home because that's waste water. I do think it's dumb that she won't replace her tank/pay to get connected to city.

I like how you said she shouldn’t be doing everything for them. My mother in law did everything for my husband and now that she lives with us he doesn’t pick up after himself Bc he knows I’ll do it or his mom will. He had no issues doing this before she lived her, so yes this will make things worse for their partners in the future. A couple of her children are in high school they can make their own food, pack their own lunches, do their own laundry and clean their own rooms. She does all of this to highlight the fact that she’s taking care of 12 children when most of them can do these things themselves.

If the septic system is bad, as she claimed, which is causing the wager to be bad for them to wash clothes in, Wouldn't it cause their water to be bad to shower in also? I commented asking this on one of her videos and my comment was deleted. We run on well water in this area of Florida and if there's something wrong with the septic system, you are not supposed to utilize it for showering or drinking either if it's not safe to use for washing clothes.

I'm in UK and my kids are always on time for school. After dropping them off I do some shopping in a supermarket near school and quite often on my way to the bus home I still see a lot of parents on the way to school to drop their kids off. That is around 9.30 and none of them get fined or taken to court over it. Just get a bad name in school. One of my close neighbours has her teenage son dropping his little sister of at school but that doesn't happen before 10 or 10.30. Still seems ok without any action taken. And I know from the mam herself that she just does it coz they don't like to get up early.

I have a hard time believing that Bodhis teacher took the time out of her extremely busy day to email a mom about a kid not wearing pajamas on pajama day. What teacher has time for that? And what teacher would expect a parent to take time out of their day to deliver pajamas to school? Like you said, it’s not a big deal if the kid doesn’t have pajamas. But forgetting pajamas makes her “relatable” and so it’s content. Was it even pajama day at school? Who knows? Everything is planned and calculated right?

Since he was having friends come over to spend the night, I texted him and asked if he'd like me to clean his room (making the promise to not mess in his things, any of his papers, etc, would go into his desk, cubbies, or closet.) He was actually thankful LOL, so I changed his sheets, swept and mopped, dusted, and put all the basic teen clutter in his closet and desk. AND DID NOT MESS IN HIS STUFF. Hell, I never even touched his yearbooks until he offered them to me and he KNOWS how much I'm a yearbook junkie bc I was on yearbook staff in high school. I don't know. The water issue does not make sense. Her septic tank is broken, that would mean they don't have working toilets. Drinking water, laundry, dish washer etc would come from a well or public water mains. Plus she washes dishes in the water from the faucet without boiling first so that means the water must be fine plus they use the water for everything else when convenient.
