I had my sisters 4 children for a little under a year, plus I have 3 children, so I had 7 children, and when they were first placed with me, they were all 7 and under. I had laundry days to keep up and taught the kids who were old enough to help with putting their own laundry away. I would also have color coded hampers and hangers to make it less stressful. Honestly, doing laundry is my favorite chore and super therapeutic for me lol I know Im weird. I also do all sheets, blankets, and towels every Sunday where I'd also have the kids help with that. I taught them to take their sheets, pillow cases, and blankets off their beds and place them in the hallway by the laundry room. Even my 3 year olds were able to help out, and they absolutely loved it. Her children are all definitely old enough to help out. Children thrive when they are taught life skills. Now I have a 15,13 and 10 year old and they are very self sufficient. I still have a routine, but they are all very helpful.

How old are the kids?
@anagarcias44692 жыл бұрын
I have a son who was at first an unexpected kinship placement. He came when he was 3 and for the first three years before being adopted we didn’t even post him on Facebook or tell our extended family why he was with us. Nobody asked more than once either. He was extremely food insecure, like to the point he had to do a refeeding protocol inpatient at the hospital. For years I packed him a little lunchbox with healthy but easy open snacks that were just for him. He would drag that thing like a security blanket and occasionally would eat something from it. He is 9 now and no longer needs it. Teaching him to cook meals and take care of his own needs is empowering for him and all of my biological kids. No kids thrive off of sugar and lawlessness IMO. We can’t hoard our kids just because it makes us feel more comfortable knowing we can do everything for them. Ugh
@anagarcias44692 жыл бұрын
I wanted to add that I have talked to adults who grew up in foster care and some who probably should have been removed. The one thing they all had as their number one fear was being alone🙁 that someone would change their mind or some disaster would happen and they would be on their own. So all of the “spoiling” is likely sending a message that without Mom they are basically helpless and useless. Teaching them how to take care of themselves, handle money, advocate for themselves, these are skills that make people confident and secure intrinsically. Gifts and being used make people insecure, ego fragility, and entitled.

I also have a bad septic tank (clogged drain field) at my house and we've been dealing with it for over a year (thankfully we're finally getting it fixed in the new year) and I can assure you that, once its filled up, you absolutely cannot "just do a couple loads a day" lol. We've been getting it pumped every month and once the tank is full it will back up into the house if we use the water too much. Also there's only two people in my household. Also to add since lots are confused: When you're not on public sewer/water your water comes from a well and your waste goes to the septic tank. Her water is fine, her tank likely cannot handle the number of people flushing/showering/15 loads of laundry a day. That's why she can use the faucet for water and cooking, but doesn't wash dishes or clothes at home because that's waste water. I do think it's dumb that she won't replace her tank/pay to get connected to city.

I have a hard time believing that Bodhis teacher took the time out of her extremely busy day to email a mom about a kid not wearing pajamas on pajama day. What teacher has time for that? And what teacher would expect a parent to take time out of their day to deliver pajamas to school? Like you said, it’s not a big deal if the kid doesn’t have pajamas. But forgetting pajamas makes her “relatable” and so it’s content. Was it even pajama day at school? Who knows? Everything is planned and calculated right?

Actually because Bodhi is Autistic and is in Special Education, a paraeducator or a teacher's assistant probably did contact her. If Bodhi was upset that he forgot his pj's, I definitely see they would contact her. Bodhi being upset might upset other Autistic students if he with them. Also, if forgetting the pj's makes Bodhi not work in school, they might consider contacting Alisha. However, Alisha could of said this for content too.

The ONLY time I cleaned my son's room when he was a teenager (and I still feel guilty for having to do it!!) was when he was at camp the week before his birthday and had been put of town the week before that, too, so his room was still upside down from the last semester of school before summer started. Since he was having friends come over to spend the night, I texted him and asked if he'd like me to clean his room (making the promise to not mess in his things, any of his papers, etc, would go into his desk, cubbies, or closet.) He was actually thankful LOL, so I changed his sheets, swept and mopped, dusted, and put all the basic teen clutter in his closet and desk. AND DID NOT MESS IN HIS STUFF. Hell, I never even touched his yearbooks until he offered them to me and he KNOWS how much I'm a yearbook junkie bc I was on yearbook staff in high school. I don't know. It breaks my heart for these kids every single time I see this woman cross the line with them.

Josh comes home for lunch and there's nothing ordered? hello..you spend thousands a week on food and there's nothing to eat? I give up!!

The water issue does not make sense. Her septic tank is broken, that would mean they don't have working toilets. Drinking water, laundry, dish washer etc would come from a well or public water mains. Plus she washes dishes in the water from the faucet without boiling first so that means the water must be fine plus they use the water for everything else when convenient.
