I have a suggestion. For many families, this Christmas season will be tight, and many children will not receive what they normally do. How about instead of flexing all the money you have on your children all the time, use this opportunity to find a family who is deserving of the help and provide them with groceries and gifts for the entire family and include your children in on the adventure. Your children are not learning about empathy and giving by shoveling as many gifts as you do on a daily basis down their throats. Doing half of what you do for your children would be WAY MORE than most receive in their childhood, and they would learn to be more appreciative of what they do receive as well as learning to give back to others when you are blessed beyond measure on a daily basis. UPDATE: Apparently, I have insulted other viewers with my opinion, and that was not my intent. My opinion is that Christmas is a way to give back to others instead of receiving. It's my opinion, which I have a right to have. All of those who disagree also have a right to their opinions, and Alicia likely will not read nor care about my comment. She has every right to do what she wishes with her money. It was simply my suggestion as a way to help others and her own children. Merry Christmas!

We do 3-5 for each kid, ranging from new socks or a nice shirt to an educational material to a nice vacation. We only buy electronics for the kids for educational purposes. It’s best to allow children to be appreciative of what they have rather than be spoiled and entitled. Even though I can afford giving my children 10x the amount of gifts you buy for yours, I don’t. The best I can give to them can’t be bought.

When children are constantly being bought things they can become unappreciative. Also things don't make one happy. It's love that brings happiness. Also children can become spoiled and selfish. When they get older they will expect so much and get upset when they don't get their own way or get what they want. Children are happy with simple things and love, kisses and hugs and telling them you love them and showing them you do. Things don't always show love.
