I aspire every day to be more like you, Alicia. I have severe depression and OCD, the day to day tasks as a toddler mom can be so daunting. The way you handle your daily life with such poise and positivity is so inspiring, it’s not something I’ve ever seen within myself. But somehow just watching you take care of your family so effectively and efficiently gives me hope that I can one day do the same and be a better version of me for my family. Idk how you do it, but keep doing it!

HEY ALISHA! just wanted to say: you are SO AMAZING! I grew up in a family of 12 siblings, and never realized the hard work my mom put into us until I got married and had my own child🤍 You remind me of her a lot! She always made all our lunches the night before school, each kid had the same size lunch (no matter the age lol) and she did this because she always said “I can’t handle the thought of 12 kids running around in my kitchen trying to make their own lunches🤣” I love how easy you are with things, my mom always said “ what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” I don’t understand why people are so concerned about such little flaws (I.e cutting the sand which with the same knife, etc.) You do so much for your kids, I can just imagine when they’re all grown up they’re going to look back with tears in their eyes and think, “wow, mom really did it all. From before sunrise to after sun down each day. She was there for us. She made us feel loved. She made us feel safe + secure. Not to mention dad!! Y’all are the best❤️

Alicia is the epitome of a good Christian woman who has devoted her life to serving others. That’s why she’s so happy. People criticize her for oversharing, but she is an adult. She’s clearly someone who values transparency and wears her heart on her sleeve. I could easily see the protective mama bear coming out if she felt her family was threatened. Her kids are safe and loved. I appreciate what she does so much. I have two adopted much younger siblings whom we love very much. They’ve been a blessing to our family.

By the way, I wanted to thank you. I went in for a popliteal bypass in my leg to restore blood flow due to blood clots on February 23rd of this year. I woke up without a leg. I'm now a right above-the-knee amputee. Those first few days were intense and horrible. I watched you and got to know you, Josh, and the kids. It helped so much when I was in the hospital, you have no idea. Thank you. I appreciate you and your family.
@unknownhaircolor2 жыл бұрын
That must have been terrifying. I can’t imagine going for something that’s supposed to help and waking up without a limb 😔 I hope you’re doing okay!
@somethingwicked56782 жыл бұрын
@@unknownhaircolor it was terrifying at first. At almost 50 years old, how was I going to handle this? How was I going to pull through? How was I going to be a wife, mom, Grammy without a leg? The answer was I wasn't going to do a thing. WE were going to do it. God, me, and my family. The day after the amputation, I listened to a doctor tell me that I wouldn't be out of a wheelchair for at least a year, and that's all it took to stop being afraid and start being determined. I hopped into the wheelchair a few minutes later and took myself to the bathroom, much to the dismay of the nurses. After doing the bed to wheelchair transfer three or four times, I asked for a walker. I was up with the walker that night. I was in a physical rehabilitation for five days, where I learned to do everything I needed to do to function on my own. They told me I wouldn't be able to drive for at least six months. I drove home from the hospital. I was on crutches that night. I learned to get myself up and down my ramp by way of wheelchair, but my poor husband and boys would have to stand in the rain and wait for me to load myself into the car from the wheelchair or vise versa, so I ditched the wheelchair and learned to do it with crutches. I'm hitting this life as hard as I possibly can. I was just laughing with my husband about being terrified the day I lost my leg. That wasn't as terrifying as the surgery ten days after that one for an infection. THAT was a scary surgery. I just kept asking them if they remembered what leg they were working on....it was obvious they were working on the amputated one....I just could not get it out of my head that I was waking up with both legs gone. 😂😆 The hands down worst part of this is the phantom sensations. That's where the Dougherty Dozen come in. When it's three in the morning and I can feel intense pain all the way to my toes that aren't there, my brain won't shut off. I've watched pretty much all of the videos now. I adore those kids. They are all so cute, but that little Harlee's smile has gotten me through some bad nights. Sorry for the long reply. I'm an author and I haven't written in a long time. Lol

The deal with mixing and dry separately it is to evenly distribute the dry ingredients. It can also depend on the recipe. Things like what you're making, you dont need to separate. However separation in other recipes that require a softer texture or sifted ingredients, yes you separate ingredients. Other times it can be when you're making an emulsion to properly mix the wet ingredients.

My 11-year-old daughter has been enjoying making lemonade. A normal sized bag of lemons - maybe it's 2 lbs from the grocery store seems to yield about a cup to a cup and a quarter of freshly squeezed lemon juice. She uses my old fashioned citrus hand squeezer so it takes her a while and keeps her busy. Then she adds a cup of stevia (measures cup for cup like sugar so you could use that), and water to fill a 2.5 quart pitcher. It turns out well, and gives her a task. I add the lemons to my compost bin. Sometimes we do iced tea instead - boil 3-4 tea bags whatever kind you like for maybe 5-7 minutes, then let it steep until pretty dark (2ish cups of water), then fill up the pitcher with water and add a cup of Stevia or sugar. She also likes to make waffles - we do 2 cups of mix, 1 egg and enough water to make it runny enough to pour. She's good at it - and it makes enough to feed her and her sister, with usually 1 big waffle left for dad. Another thing she loves to do is make a big container of juice in one of those glass jars that has a spout - we will do kool aid, flavored water - whatever. about 2/3 liquid to 1/3 ice and have it outside with friends, music, swimming - best served with ice pops :)

I loved “hanging out with you” on your day in the life vlog! I’m sure even at 2 hours it was only a glimpse into what it truly takes to care for your family on a daily basis. I’m sure it was even more difficult to add a camera to the mix…Thanks for taking your time to share your day with us!

Where did you get you containers that your flour is in? I think it’s funny I watch Planting Birches too and she makes the pumpkin chocolate chip bread too. Wonder if you 2 use the same recipe?

I just love watching you and your family. Just curious, did you know you can feed your chickens the egg shells. The calcium is really good for them. Anyway, I just love you guys!!
