Hey! Do you think it's worth paying 300$ more for the Douglas Summit ? Thanks for the great reviews :)

@@wazypox It really just depends on your financial situation. If you were already thinking about buying a $1.3K'ish mattress then absolutely, the extra cost is worth it. There is no doubt that the Summit is a strong performing and higher quality mattress then the original Douglas. At the same time...the original Douglas is the highest performing 10" all foam mattress we've tested. And among the very best value mattresses on the market. Really, hard to go wrong either way.

Would it be worth to upgrade to the summit, or is the alpine just as good ?
@NapLabReviews

Summit is definitely a notable upgrade over the Alpine. Given that the price difference is $300 I think for most sleepers that's well worth the added cost, especially for a mattress that's going to last 10'ish years.

Which would you recommend the Douglas or Casper snow

In our tests the Douglas Alpine performed better than the Casper Snow. Given that it's also less expensive it feels like a no brainer to me.

Question about the colour of the foam, did the foam colour arrive like that, the yellow stain, or was that from the testing?
@NapLabReviews

It arrived like this. Though I don't think it's stained. It's just the color they went with.

Hi! The yellowing of foam is a natural occurrence as the material oxidizes over time. Rest assured, this is entirely normal and does not impact the performance or quality.

Hi, I notice that the initial motion transfer is around 6x the amount compared to the 10" classic Douglas. Is this because the test wasn't made the same way? If surprises me, as it seems to be of the same materials, but thicker. In general, which would you recommend between the Douglas classic and Alpine? What are the main differences? Thanks!

All of our motion tests are conducted the same way. While it is true it is more, but the motion here and on the original Douglas are incredibly low. Because the accelerometer is so sensitive it doesn't take much for the range to increase significantly if there are even the slightest motion generating variables in the mattress. In a choice between the original Douglas and Alpine I would go original Douglas. It outperformed the Alpine and it costs less money. It just makes no sense to pay for for performance that is slightly worse.

@NapLabReviews Thanks, makes sense! Btw, you have the best review site I found! I really appreciate listening to your videos. May I suggest getting a VOC detector that would give VOC levels after degassing is done? Some VOCs are oderless too.

@@mathieupatenaude Oh thank you very much! I really appreciate that. I'm glad to hear my videos are hitting the right marks! I do have a VOC meter, though the level of accuracy is okay best...suffice to say, it's not precise enough that I've ever felt comfortable publishing the data. Beyond that, testing for VOCs requires a high degree of control, which in our current setup we just don't have. We would really need to isolate a single mattress at a time in a room, while also largely sealing the room, and taking measurements as the mattress off gasses. In addition, I'd need a more expensive meter to accurately measure. All that to say, it's something I want to do in the future, but as of now we're just not at a place where we can reliably measure VOCs.

@NapLabReviews Makes sense! If it is not in a controlled environment, it won't give accurate results! Generally speaking, from the preliminary test that you made, were the VOC high after degassing? This factor gears me toward Organic latex mattress, but if it is not too bad, I'll stay with foam mattress. I can't seem to find source of info in regards to that. I guess that I can just relly on CertiPur certification, which I believe the Douglas has.

@@mathieupatenaude Given our VOC testing limitations, I haven't continued to monitor with our testing device, as there are just too many factors in play (open uncontrolled space + multiple mattresses in the same room). I just pulled my monitor back out to see how bad it is. Currently the meter reads a TVOC of 0.38 mg/m^3. Anything under 0.5 mg/m^3 is generally considered safe. Bear in mind, this is the reading in a 1,000 square foot studio with 11 Queen sized mattresses in it currently, 4 of them unboxed within the last week, all of them unboxed within the last month. Almost all of them are foam or foam hybrids.

If you're finding the Douglas Alpine too soft you may want to consider mattresses that are classified as "firm" or firmer. Douglas Alpine is a pretty typical medium-firm feel.
