Douglas! Can I ask if you have done the Inverness HM? I'm hoping to do it next year. It's on March the 12th. I was wondering if you have done it & if you could please tell me how it was? Thanks! 👌👍🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃

Not sure where I caught you up but finished just over a minute before you. Had started in green wave as I signed up last year when I hadn't been running long. Much faster now and you were definitely taking it easy as well! The 10k marker was definitely the halfway point cause I had 10.74 on my watch passing that.
@Scottishparkruns2 жыл бұрын
Nice, great running Hargo! I think that happens to quite a lot of people - my friend was also in the green wave initially, but she went in on Saturday and got changed to white.

Congratulations Douglas on completing the Great Scottish Run half marathon, wonderful video, lovely medal as well, do the runners still get a T Shirt or a goody bag as they used to?
@Scottishparkruns2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alan 😃 Yeah, there was a goody bag at the end. It contained the medal, tech t-shirt, a clif bar, bottle of water and a few other bits and bobs. It’s a nice t-shirt!

Great running! Heard there was a bit of a mix-up with the course distance, maybe that explains the oddly-place signs! On a different topic, could you suggest a good Glasgow parkrun for wet weather? I like Victoria but water collects in several massive puddles and you can't avoid them!
@Scottishparkruns2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David 😃 I believe it was just the 10k route that was affected, which doesn’t go out as far as Pollok, so that one is still a mystery! I’ve ran Elder in wet weather a few times recently and that seems to cope well. Not had to dodge any puddles.
@tobiasz6613 Жыл бұрын
Tollcross is the best Glasgow park run although the XC alternative course is hard.

Nice video Douglas. I was scouring KZbin for vids on this because I always like to see it and they didn't televise it this year. Good to go at a semi-leisurely pace and enjoy it much more - I might try that next year.
@Scottishparkruns2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Troy 😊 That’s unusual for it to be televised - I wonder why that was? I was pretty much forced to take it easy - I’ve had a niggling injury that’s prevented me running longer distances, so not been able to train for the half marathon distance. Fortunately it’s getting better now after a lot of strength of conditioning, but it at least meant I was never going to be tempted to race it!

@@Scottishparkruns London marathon was on so GSR didn't get a slot. You're right about the start- I done it to fast the time I ran it and paid for it in the 2nd half- oof

Good video. I’ve just done the GNR and found that it was so busy that I couldn’t get into any rhythm at all. The GSR looks nicely spread out despite 20-30k people running(?). Is it easy to get into a rhythm for all runners or did you start fairly near the front? Thanks.
@Scottishparkruns Жыл бұрын
Thanks Heinz! I started in the middle wave this time, so definitely nowhere near the front. It’s a bit congested for the first 500m or so, but it’s a very wide road you start on and the field quickly spreads out. I’ve never had an issue getting into a rhythm any of the 3 times I’ve taken part.

Hello! Do you recommend this for someone running there first half marathon? It seems to hilly and scaring me lol x
@Scottishparkruns Жыл бұрын
Hi there! It’s definitely not flat, but I wouldn’t say it was hilly. You have the initial climb up St Vincent street, but since that’s right at the start you don’t really notice it. The main hill would be the one in Pollok Park around the half way point. After that it’s pretty much flat to the finish, except for a wee bump in Bellahouston Park. There’s definitely flatter half marathons around (I think the Edinburgh ones are pretty flat), but I do enjoy the GSR as it’s very well supported along most of the route. Never underestimate how much a good crowd can keep you going 😃 In short - yes I’d recommend it. It’s a great experience 😄
