YBT had the support of the prominent rap group Public Enemy and their producer Hank Shocklee signed them as the first act of his label Sound of Urban Listeners (SOUL). Despite their name, none of the group's members were black. There was a story that Busta Rhymes once told where his group and this group are both competing for contracts on Hank Shockley’s label. Part of the competition was who would get what name. The winner of the competition was Busta’s group and they decided to take the Leaders of the New School name. The other group got the other name. This was the other group and that was the name that they were given: Young Black Teenagers.

Most people don't understand what "Tap the bottle" means, but when you first take the cap off your full 40 or 22, you have your boy tap the bottom of his bottle against the top of your bottle and it foams up really fast so put it to your mouth and it's like doing a shotgun. I used to do it with 22's but I always had trouble guzzling a whole 40 in one shot. Any way, this song helped popularize that method of guzzling 40's.
@banklucas92917 жыл бұрын
No it means u tap the bottle for respect to the dudes that are dead so they don't spill out the beer and waste it then drink it all
@rsmith79125 жыл бұрын
It's funny to hear the meaning of 'Tap the bottle' referring to a bottle of beer. Coming from the UK when I first heard it in NY in '93 I was hearing it as something totally different. It was more like taking a bump of certain illegal substances that would be in a very small bottle but you'd still have to tap the bottle & twist the cap to release it then snort it. Happy people either way really!!

It was a one hit wonder because they stole the song and couldn't make another hit on their own.
