@flickersense4 жыл бұрын
Every single character who invaded the palace was valuable and did their work. There is no "MVP". And to people saying that Knov got scared, he did his job by going alone into the palace full of chimera ants like the king, the royal guards and other lower ranked ones and placing his portals, so that the rest of the team had an entrance to enter from. He also came back to save Shoot and later to save Morel while the invasion was happening.
@MicaW4VE4 жыл бұрын
@@flickersense just because every person is valuable doesn't mean there can't be an mvp. take MOBAS for example it takes a team of 5 to do their roles and get the win but at the end of the game there's still an MVP for both teams.
@flickersense4 жыл бұрын
@@MicaW4VE I don't know what mobas is. But it doesn't matter, since there is no way to measure value of an individual. Without Knov there are no portals for the team to go through. Without Morel, Shoot and Knuckle, the 2 royal guards aren't going to get stopped from searching for the king. Without Netero, the royal guards and the king aren't going to get taken out by the bomb. Without Gon, somebody else has to defeat Pitou. Without Killua, there is no support for Knuckle when he fought against Youpi, and there is no support for Gon. I haven't even named all of the members. How do you measure what's going to happen if you take one of them out? You never know, since even a difference of somebody reacting or doing something a little bit differently has a chance of creating very drastic changes.
@MicaW4VE4 жыл бұрын
@@flickersenseif you heard of league of legends that's a moba, it's a game where 2 teams of 5 fight to take out turrets that lead to the main base where you destroy the main objective and whoever does that first wins. and like I said before everyone has their part but if someone does their part and then some they can be referred to as the MVP, it's not about taking someone out of the equation. if everyone did their job as normal and gon was able to kill pitou and return to the fight and help elsewhere like say with youpi gon would be considered the MVP imo MVP is subjective most times but it truly comes down to who you think did the most work and went above and beyond or who had the hardest job and handled it the best.

Meruem alludes to this in general. As he's gained his memories he says something like "It was the series of events that lead to this particular outcome". He said it better though.
@spacey97075 ай бұрын
it was all because of komugi 1. Pitou taken out of the battle bcs she needed to heal Komugi 2. Meruem gaining compassion, making him not striking Netero at the spot (they all would be dead since it triggers the rose bomb) 3. Pouf having a mental breakdown about The King and Komugi, he could join the battle very soon but nope
@Critt_AriАй бұрын
@@spacey9707 komugi definitely was the mvp. She granted meruem humanities light side like mercy, sportsmanship etc. If the king didnt had such complex mechanisms, he would have crushed the extermination team right there. Her companionship eventually "weakened" the king. Which made Netero able to show him humanities dark side with the poor mans rose right after he thought he had won.
@scinary705228 күн бұрын
@@Critt_Ari What I like most about the extermination team's plan is that none of it was relevant to killing Meruem. Netero being in proximity to Meruem was already checkmate. In fact. Knov could have killed Meruem when he finished his mission. Just portal a Rose into the castle. Functionally, the objective of the extermination team was just damage control. Minimize the collateral damage while Meruem is killed. They isolated Meruem so that the detonation wouldn't kill the 5 million brainwashed people. Of course, Netero did WANT to beat Meruem in the actual fight. And that's probably the the main reason they needed to separate Meruem from the guards. Otherwise, try to separate all 4 and then bing bong blast them. After Meruem's death via the bomb. The 3 royal guards would be next up, assumably once the bomb goes off they'd rush to the scene and be poisoned. Hopefully that kills them too. Perfect victory.

Especially the king and the royal guards but obviously they died at the end so their growth as characters were pointless

General trend with people complaining about this and the narration is that their attention spans are so fried they don't realise how much information they're actually getting here. There's a dude below complaining he didn't need an entire episode about how Killua felt about helping Ikalgo by killing those 2 soldiers, that scene is like 90 seconds of a 20 minute episode. Or people complaining that Netero takes a whole episode to slap Pitou away, but that's like 60seconds of screen time, 10 mins of the episode is Netero's backstory which in a generic Anime would be a 2+ episode long mini arc of flashbacks. They got so much clearly presented info in 4-5 episodes that they don't realise how short of a runtime that information was provided in. Narrator gives the animators an ability to pack more info density into the episode because instead of characters standing around and inner monologuing or saying shit out loud while the enemy just stands there and listens, we get all that info density with a backdrop of the actual action taking place in slow motion. In a normal anime this initial invasion would be like 15 episodes, with 30% of that being flashbacks to previous fights and 40% being side characters standing around and just screaming the narration out like they're Speedwagon. The way this was done here we get the fight and the exposition at the same time instead of, cut to protagonist saying a line -> cut to villain monologuing -> cut to side characters giving exposition -> cut to completely unrelated sub plot -> comic relief character does a thig -> back to protagonist charging up -> villain charging up etc. Then there's the complaining that there's too much narration and it's mostly unneeded or irrelevant. The narrator does 4 things, provides exposition for mechanics of the combat, provides exposition for character emotion(because it's absurd and even worse for pacing how people accept in anime that characters just say out loud what they feel all the time while time is frozen or ignored), fills in for character inner monologue so we can show other action instead of every character thought being presented as a freeze frame of the character having an inner dialogue, he highlights and clarifies character emotions in scenes where characters choose to stay silent. That last bit is also important, normally the character would have to show their emotion either by an overexaggerated pantomime or say out loud what they feel. With the narrator we can have the character still be active in the scene while their emotion is revealed, because that's what real people do, they feel things but they bottle them up to reveal them at a more appropriate time.

the narrator actually does FIVE things: he also drives me mad to the point of not being physically able to care about anything else he may be doing : )

This really highlights the complexity of the whole event of the palace invasion. Those were some intence 3 and a half minutes (that's what she said)

This is actually perfection. It’s a great idea, carried out perfectly, shows how much had really happened in just a few minutes. The ending point was the moment the invasion was no longer an invasion, just a battle to the death (can you also do the war part like you did this this one please?). Heck even the video quality is great. Use of the opening song to portray the credits was a underused trick, making it not boring as it’s everywhere. The audio is paced perfectly and the smooth editing is one of the best I’ve seen in years. 10/10 (But seriously please do the battle part like this, it would be legendary, but a lot longer, and then maybe even the build up, before Netero died, *or even the entire series!* Okay I was kidding about the series part. But a Palm version would be nice please? Also I might repost this comment.)

HxH is a gem. I genuinely haven't enjoyed much shows since then. Even live action shows from the US with big budgets and experienced writing staffs. HxH hit something within me. It's such a unique show and Togashi's way of storytelling is a way that just fully resonates with me. His ideas and execution of it are a marvel.

This actually shows Togashi sensei genius as a writer, and why the narrator is needed for the arc. Hunter, imo would best be taken in, in novel format, except it isn't a novel and so there's no way to show everything happening at the same time because manga and anime are visual mediums.

I honestly wonder if we’ll ever get something like this again in HXH, considering the way the manga is going. The closest thing to this I could see happening is something in the Dark Continent arc when shit hits the fan... but that’s unlikely

I love how so much is going on with battles, information exchanges, and stand off conversations. Then there's Pouf... standing alone, hoping Komugi might be dead, then having an existential crisis, before divising plans behind his kings back. Just beautiful 👌
