DOVE Big Block Ford Heads 385 Series Ported Heads Back From The Head Porter For Final Build.

Today I got the DOVE Heads back from Wayne's Porting.

Hey Wild Weazzell, thanks for watching. This port plate deal has been around for awhile.. Just don't see anyone messing with these old heads much, with all of the aluminum heads out there. I will be sure and tell Wayne. Can't do before flow numbers, but hopefully after flow numbers is the plan. These heads do pretty good for what they are. Have a good evening.

Good looking port job on the heads. The plates will help them out a lot. They help all the 335/385 series engines out. I guess Ford finally figured that out which is why the fuel injected 460 head has a D shaped exhaust port. Ford finally caught on to the fact that velocity works lol

So they're inserting false floors in the exhaust port??? Very smart! Those scooped out floors increasing the cross sections has to be killing low lift flow speed. I know i don't need to tell y'all but its worth mentioning that the insert has to be a perfect transition from port to insert or it would do more harm than good.

Scott Johnston spent a ton of time developing these base heads and it is amazing what he takes out vs what he leaves in the head especially on the exhaust side. I've seen a D3VE port pair flow 351 and 200cfm.

Your port plate idea will be interesting to test. From my testing if the header pipe comes straight out from the port for a bit it'll help. If it turns down right away it'll hurt or make no difference. @@edsmachine93

I remember the MPG Port Plates my friend used on his bogus Boss 302 using the Cleveland 4 barrel heads. Surprisingly the low end torque wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be.

I grew up porting 335 and 385 heads, this brings back a ton of memories. Back in the 70s everyone running Fords were scouring everywhere trying to get ahold of CJ/SCJ heads, which are nice to have but they were scarce even then. I learned how to machine the DOVE heads and the A2A heads to accept studs and plates along with a steep learning curve on porting, and gave many cars some pretty embarrassing views of the tail lights of my handiwork, lol.

Yes mine's built with eagle Ross Pistons 560 cubic inch Stroker 1250 Dominator 100cc all the way around 13..1 compression 1015 HP on the dyno 10000 titanium valves big triple valve springs running like a blower cam

Do not raise the floor in those exhaust ports. Yes it will flow better on the bench, but it will be down 30+hp guaranteed. Exhaust port AREA is king.
