I think it’s more like don’t be ashamed. When my mother was growing up it was something that was considered shameful, even her mother thought so, and it was to be hidden and never talked about. so when my sister and I got ours, she took us out and celebrated. So I think what Dove means is it’s more like, “you are a woman, don’t be ashamed, what’s happening is completely natural and normal and getting your period is a sign you are capable of carrying life inside you- aka being pregnant”. Which is an amazing thing.

@Mary Clark I think it’s the same thing with my mother. It wasn’t considered shameful but it was just something nobody ever talked about. You used what you used and didn’t tell anybody about it. Your parents didn’t even prepare you. I get stoked because I’m blessed enough to have a painless cycle. No pain whatsoever. Knock on wood. And I said 4 because my friend hasn’t gotten hers yet but really wants it.
