Love me some Stephen King! I have not read IT, (watched the movies, old and new). I have to say the only King book I've read in recent years was Fairy Tale (2022) - there's also a movie based on that, and I'd guess there are probably films for over half his books. Notables: Carrie, Pet Sematary, Salem's Lot, Misery. He does have a bit of a dryer style, that, to me, evokes older eras.

I like King's films; I don't read the books. My favorite book is 'A Clockwork Orange' by Anthony Burgess. It makes me laugh with the odd droogie language. I love the film too of course. I read one book by Stephen King, Delores Clayborn, which is a totally good read. It is a story about a woman who kills her husband during the total eclipse of 62--or 63 and it is told entirely in first person. It was the first book in years that I have read from front to back in one setting. This book wasn't as scary as many of his works, but it was scary enough for me. But my sister is a big fan, she read everything by him. I don't know how anyone can handle is darker works.

Thanks for the reading, they’re always accurate. Stephen king is a great writer, but I bet you would enjoy Clive Barker too. Clive Barker is one of my all time favorites in the horror genre. Stephen king writes more pulpy stuff. Whereas Clive Barker writes more literate and wordy stuff with a flowing thread of esotericism running throughout his work. Listen to some of the Interviews with Clive Barker talking about imagination and his beliefs, he’s very deep, like rich hot chocolate deep. As for Stephen King, you might enjoy his book Needful Things, it’s about an oddity shop with supernatural stuff throughout. Stephen Kings short story books are awesome too. As for Clive Barker, The Hellbound Heart is a good place to start, but he really shines In his bigger books like Weaveworld and Imagica.

You’re outrageous! Stephen King is my main man. I started reading his books when I was about 12-13 & now I’m 55. Start reading his assumed named books, the Bachman Books. Many of them are famous movies or stories that you probably had no idea that he wrote. I’ll say there is always a point in reading Kings books where all of a sudden it switches & you’re hooked & can not put “It” down, lol. I was introduced to Stephen King via the film IT, the origional. Great film but then I read the book. Alot more " stuff" in that. Often find that in films of books...was a while ago now. ( I've always got about 3 books on the go, not counting all the kindle ones )... anyway. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Stephen King is that interview or whatever with George R R Martin and Stephen King, where George R Martin asks him How do you write so many goddamn books? And Stephen King says well I write 6 pages a day. I wanna write books but sometimes I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to my dreams and ambitions. Also I watched the movies It, The Shining, Stand by Me, I know Stephen King has more stories than that I can't think for right now but he is totally an inspiration. My entire life I've only had bad dreams or screaming nightmares except for once. I dreamt I was living in a small house with a creek and pond on property I owned. A subsistence tiny farm. My 2 Chester White pigs were coming around the porch to sit at my feet as I snapped beans. I was a very alone, very content, very old woman. I cried when I woke up because it was just a dream. I still see it in quite vivid detail. As we enter the technology age those who live in fear become hateful, violent, more fearful and inhumane. It is difficult to engage in a society that repels you. I no longer remember dreams. I go to sleep, wake up and nothing between the two. I'd just like to go home now. I've never been there before.
