Hi Jarrod. Thanks for another good video. I’ve been looking at these as a beginning razor.

Is there a main difference between dovos celluloid vs acrylic scales ? Which would be better. I’m interested in this razor, more then likely will be purchasing through your store !

I can't say, maybe it is because Dovo (by intention) pins this one extra extra hard...I don't read about the Böker/Thiers-Issard/etc.'s celluloids breaking all the time, but Dovo is of course selling many many factor more of this one than the other smaller producers, so reading colloquial stories of the Dovos breaking is not what I call statistically significant. Most people are not a brain of science, however, and will operate upon the stories they read (it is a wonder they, too, are rational enough to board a commercial aircraft). What I do know is that if you never do any of the three 'DON'T' things, you will never break this scale, and if you do any of them, even once, your scale will likely break - and you can do any of those three things with any of the other Dovos and nothing bad will happen. Whether that restriction is worth $ of savings is entirely up to the consumer, but they should know the trade, and accept the terms of the trade, and not blame the tool if it breaks; it cannot break on its own without you doing one of the three no-nos and it is MUCH tighter than the competing celluloid scales (which even I find very useful in handling any straight razor, the tighter the better).

I use my mom's sewing machine oil dipped in q tips and ran it along the blade

long as there's no solvents in that oil, should be OK man, do I miss access to humble and pungent Glenfarclas 15 in the USA

Interesting I will suggest to use more G10, it has many visual types and it is very tough plus durable. Micarta is also a good choice.

$$$ adds too much to the selling price these scales & the blue tins are about the only items in our entire shop made in CN which would reach a customer's hands

i bought one of these on amazon and i had to hone it to 8k with chromium oxide strop

May we all one day lose our jobs based on those buying on amazon, and if you have any job remotely related to putting anything in a box and mailing it to anyone else or mailing it to a store where it would be sold in-person, be wary of your own job's security...the river is coming for it.

no - high tolerance, and high moderation (keep your enforcement of moderation in moderation, of course). No more Glenfarclas 15 in USA, only by import can you get it...I miss it now as I write.
yes, this is where I must buy it...as it turns out 15's my clear fave of their 'core range' and just before they killed it off for USA they were distributing a 1L bottle that near to me retailed for about $60, what a value for a truly special distillery. Master of Malt has some Nikka whiskies which I'd like to have a go at so the next time I import it'll be there (being a struggling bricks-and-mortar owner, I sympathize with local liquor proprietors, even though they're conveniently _NOT_ assaulted by Mr. Bezos' firm thumb).
