Here is something quite a bit different from my normal stuff, but I thought you guys would be interested in seeing what I'm up to. Or maybe just see a video in general... (sigh) haha Turns out the only way I can get videos made at the moment is if I get school projects that give me time to dedicate to making videos. I thought you all would enjoy this, even if it's a bit different. I do plan on getting more regular videos out. Being my senior year of university, it's been a bit of a challenge to say the least. But one more year and then I plan on jumping full-time into KZbin! Got to get that degree first though! What's an educator without an education? Take care, and feel free to let me know what you think!

the riddle, Hey, I appreciate it! I've been quite upset myself that I haven't been able to dedicate more time to Think Fact. University has been taking up all my time, but I realize how important it is for me to obtain my education if I'm going to encourage people to educate themselves! I do enjoy it, it's just I still want to start doing other things. Haha I've been able to actually build up quite a list of interesting topics I want to cover in the future! I've really been able to reflect on things and in that context I am quite thankful! I also want to let you know the comments like yours make it all worth it. I love KZbin, I love making videos, but I love the community the most! People such as yourself are the best part of what I do and I'm so thankful for the support and the thoughts! So thank you and I hope to catch you around again!

We should all learn kindness and how to live simply from James. He is an amazing human being, he doesn't have a bad bone in his body, he is a beautiful soul. God has blessed this world with this wonderful young man, I am going to share this little look into his life as much as I can. God bless you James and family, you are a true pure inspiration! 💝

I love how your focus was on James as an individual with his own interests, skills, hobbies and loved ones. That he is more than just a diagnosis, but an actual person with his own mind. It seems like people forget that way too often

I was really scared when I saw the title. I thought you have depression and are now coming over it. which is great if that's the truth. if you are, we are here for you. but I'm glad that's it's just an inspirational video with someone with down syndrome.
@Leiria658 жыл бұрын
I thought the same too. After watching it I felt bad because I laughed when I found out te title was a pun
@thinkfact8 жыл бұрын
Fair point, I can definitely see how it could've come across like that. Haha I am not depressed, though I am a bit overwhelmed with school work at the moment. I am quite excited to graduate so I can focus more on KZbin. I am on my final year. I've always wanted to make a video on James and with James. I'm really thankful I have the opportunity, I'm also thankful that it's been well received. Thanks for taking the time to watch, take care! :)
@thinkfact8 жыл бұрын
Leiria65, laugh! The title was meant to be a pun, but also touches base on the capabilities James has. Life is short and sometimes laughter is the best way to tackle serious situations. James is full of jokes and sometimes laughter is how he and the family deals with challenging situations. :)

When we started learning genetics, we learned about down syndrome. I've never quite understood how someone with down syndrome acts and looks (we were told that their face is different from their parents much more than usual and that they'd never dare to hurt someone) and this video helped me understand it.
@dutchik51078 жыл бұрын
that's great. but why did they say they would never hurt someone? was that because you might have been scared if you saw someone with down? yeah when I learned about down with biology I was "ow so that's why." but I basically grew up with people with a mental handicap
@alwinpriven24008 жыл бұрын
no, just a trait that down people have.
@thinkfact8 жыл бұрын
I have known James my entire life so for me it was interesting learning about it while knowing someone who actually has it. James does have multiple traits originating from his parents, but down syndrome definitely influences multiple factors of his appearance. I'm happy you have been able to find this informative! I can say James would never hurt a fly, that being said he is quite the copycat. He mimics silly little gags from TV shows from time to time, reenacting movie scenes that occasionally contain a fake hit. But beyond pretending he is not, James is extremely well-behaved. Haha
@squirrelspown8 жыл бұрын
I find the writing bit fascinating. Could you elaborate on if he has composed a unique writing system, if it is a cipher for English, or something else?
@thinkfact8 жыл бұрын
James has phenomenal memory, he often remembers the most obscure details. Personally (and that's without being able to study it), it appears as if James Is not actually writing words within themselves but instead creates lines for particular items and uses that particular line to remember that particular item. The footage of him shopping was actually a week after the footage where he is explaining his list with his mother. The area she points to that he specifies are "two A batteries" in the interview is the same part of the paper he is looking at when he brings it up when out shopping. The list he had the week before is different from the one he had a week later. They weren't able to go out shopping that week at a supermarket, thus the list he had when he actually got to go to the store was bigger. He looks around the house and makes a list of things that they are out of. Often he makes a squiggle for the exact item he notices they are out of at a time and I believe he is simply remembering the exact item he made that squiggle for. That being said, this is purely off of my observations of him. It would be interesting to run some actual tests. It might be fun to do one day.
@squirrelspown8 жыл бұрын
That's pretty amazing! Thank you for the quick response! If you do ever run more studies, be sure to put it up or throw me a comment!
@trainerstone8 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. I think that comparing his lists to see if the "writing" on both are the same for the same word. Purses might be a good word to see if it's repeated in the same manner on two or more lists. Are you in Canada? The couple seems to have a Canadian accent? BTW, I worked as a cryptographer for the US government for the past 13 years, so I really am interested in whether or not James is using his own language or it's a random series of squiggles that are always in the same place.Thanks!

Dale! I'm not sure how I missed this video for so long, I was just scrolling my subbed channels and realized it showed I had missed 2 submissions, yeah I'm out of the loop. Glad this wasn't a time sensitive topic. I can't help but feel sorry for people who through no reason but fate end up with things like Down Syndrome, and other debilitating issues, but seeing videos like this make me wonder if those afflicted are better off than ones with what is deemed a normal existence. It must be awesome to never see anyone in a negative light such as James does, maybe we meaning those deemed normal are the ones falling short. Keep up the good work Dale, your videos even this one make a person think, I like that.. I gotta run, I have another of your clips to watch, then I'll be caught up, Good Luck in your furthering your education, hopeful your instructors give you a lot of video related course work in the future seeing how this one turned out, it should have been an easy A. Side note, second of my 3 daughters followed in her oldest siblings footsteps and graduated from UCM and will also be a school teacher, the older of teachers is stirring the minds of 8th graders while the one who just graduated will be filling the minds of 3rd graders next year. Hi Dale, Excellent! I'm impressed with this video. It's what we all need right now to teach us about acceptance,caring ,love and understanding. If we can look beyond the surface of our prejudice and our misconceptions we just might get to seeing the humanity within everyone and maybe even in ourselves. Thanks.
@thinkfact8 жыл бұрын
Hello Michael, I'm really happy to hear! I also couldn't agree with you more in the context of your comments over acceptance, caring, love, understanding. Context is key to understanding the truth. It's extremely easy to let stereotypes and generalizations dictate our perception of people and situations, but what we all could use a bit more are examples of individuals who defy stereotypes. Thank you for the comment, take care!
