Cancer won't run my life

Күн бұрын

A Redemption Trip, I spend six days doing a loop in Algonquin Park using the Tim and Petawawa Rivers. Encountering Moose, Bear and catching plenty of Brook Trout, this trip takes place in the middle of June and I encountered basically nobody during the entire trip. Probably the best trip I've ever had in all my years paddling the Park, I take time to explain my Cancer diagnosis and how it may affect my channel. Hope you enjoy this trip as much as I did.

It's funny because when I comment I feel like you're hearing me in real time. Not for nothing, my son is"Stephen." I really enjoy your videos. I'm 70+with old man health issues, but really shouldn't complain. I'm doing a solo fishing trip to the Woman River in a month BUT staying in a camp. Will have my new kayak. Videos like yours inspire me to keep pushing. Thank you for that. Some of the best videos are the ones where you'd like to know the Channel Master.... this is one.

Those are some very kind words, my promise is always to remember those who always watched and commented from the beginning. I enjoy the solo trips, but also interacting with my viewers. Good on you for getting out there still I hope I'm doing the same at that age and good luck on the trip! Great name for a son, lol. Cheers!

Great video! Thanks for sharing your trip/health journey. I'm 62, just bought a 14' Prospector and will more than likely do this trip now that I've seen your video. Read your blog and looks like you're off to Temegami, or now have already been. Excellent!

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to not only watch my videos, but read my blog. I think it's important to show people that life doesn't end because of a terminal illness, a new life can take form and getting the most out of it is important. Going down the Tim is an excellent trip! I'm back from Temagami and am working on the video now. Cheers

Stephen, I just caught your channel a couple days ago with the 7 day trip video in Algonquin. I subscribed and tonight this video came up on my feed. Thanks for sharing the trip but more importantly the update on your cancer. You will be in my prayers, praying that God will bless you with healing and strength and love through your journey. Your request for ideas for future videos: Since you have shared your cancer story why not continue? I know I would be interested in what your journey looks like and that way we get updates on how you are doing. May God bless you and keep you and give you peace!! 🙏

Ya, they were just tiny perch. I love the jumbo's but they are an evasive to species in Algonquin and to find one that far up the river was unexpected. Thanks and I got the fish I was after.

I actually just discovered your channel and am enjoying your vids! Regarding your health, if you find you’d like to have tripping companions, I have a male friend I trip with often and you would be most welcome to join us. We take our time, don’t have anything to prove with really challenging trips, although we do like a certain amount of challenge…. My buddy is early 60’s, I’m close to 70, but we are both pretty young at heart. We usually do a fall trip in Algonquin (northeast part), and a long trip in August. This year we’re in Woodland Caribou for August. So if you feel you’d be more comfortable at any point in your health journey tripping with buddies, just holler!

Thanks for watching and the offer, Woodland Caribou is on my radar too! I do have a group of guys that get together in August for a week long trip, this year it's a Temagami run. Algonquin in the fall may work and I'll be sure to keep in touch. And good on ya for still getting out there 60 and 70, young at heart I'd take that all day long! Good luck on your trip it will be a blast, we were in Wabakimi last year and words can't really describe it.

@@cancerwontrunmylife Wabakimi is on the list for 2025, then back to Quetico 2026. I’ve done Quetico 3 years in a row… but will definitely go back! I’m heading to Temagami this weekend for a week… it’s an annual one, too!

I enjoy your videos and can see your love of the outdoors. I am going to pray for you - Dear Father, I raise him up to you Lord in Jesus' name and ask that you give him a complete healing - make him a witness to your healing power and let everyone know they can come to you for their health. Jesus you died on the cross for our salvation but also for our healing. We are counting on you.
