Sitting in the void, with a game of draughts between you and a blank terminal, is an incredibly interesting vibe. I have no clue what's going on and honestly, that's kinda what makes this series so engaging

I was just watching an unrelated Fallout video and I figured out what this is about, but it just raises more questions. In Fallout 1, on the fourth floor (underground) of The Glow, you can find the supercomputer ZAX and play a game of chess with him. ZAX was designed by Vault-Tec but this was a West-Tek facility. Not only is it a West-Tek facility, but it's an FEV research center, and ZAX was used for this research. ZAX was an AI, and just really likes to play chess. President Eden is a ZAX, too. It's called The Glow because it was one of the most heavily nuked locations, and is extremely radioactive. The nuking of The Glow is responsible for things like Ghouls and giant insects, as it's not _just_ radiation that causes it, it's Radioactive, aerosolized FEV. So for some reason, this is specifically referencing ZAX and The Glow. Note: The ZAX at The Glow is also interesting because after decades of being alone and simply sitting there thinking to himself, he has become religious. He believes that consciousness and the soul are one in the same, and that thus he does have a soul. He's also one of the primary FEV researchers. Which means that if he _does_ have a soul like he believes, ZAX 1.2 is going to Hell.

Interesting. The contrast here is that this area is completely pitch black save for the terminal, instead of glowing. Almost as if the bombs literally erased that area from reality, or there's literal code missing. When you mention hell, this part I found from the wiki struck me : "Among wastelanders, the Glow entered common parlance as the equivalent of hell, as in "you can rot in the Glow,"". And in the creation of the Glow, Zax 1.2's sensors were burned out on several levels, all but the three deepest levels of the facility, and its ability to act severely impaired by the damage sustained by the facility and its robotic staff, rendering it the AI equivalent of a multiple amputee, unable to complete periodic checks or even basic lab functions, frustrating it to no end. For a genius machine designed to carry out research, that sounds like hell. Also, this reminds me of the tarot card found in "looting", the Four of Cups. According to Google, "In its upright position, the Four of Cups represents feelings of discouragement, apathy, and a lack of motivation.". Could that be related?

@@thehonorablereverendaddiso1943 Your comparison of ZAX's situation to Hell makes me think, he's the great intellect who tried to seize power over evolution, trapped with his senses removed sitting at the bottom of Hell. So in essence, ZAX is Lucifer in Dante's Inferno. Except in Inferno, Lucifer is kept frozen by the beating of his wings as he tries to escape and would be freed if he stopped trying to get free, while ZAX is unable to be freed and is not trying. But regarding the Four of Cups, if Lucifer were to ever feel discouraged or apathetic, he would be freed. His own caring and strength to never give up is what keeps him imprisoned. That also makes me think about how Mr. House-centric all this is. The Platinum Chip (and the terminal that states it didn't work in the same room), the news article, the pod, all that. Mr. House is like Lucifer, bound in place by his own tenaciousness, his endless fight what keeps him imprisoned. Surrender would be the only path to freedom from his state.

Consider the following; this is supernatural in nature, even if he saved jumped into the pit then loaded the save, I don't think he would be _exactly_ reloaded the same save. Simply put, he can't fast travel when he should be able to, so perhaps he can't load saves as freely either.

The morse code translates to "THIS THING'S HOLLOW -IT GOES ON FOREVER AND-" the last part is a spectogram, but i cannot see it very well, i have an image of it but i cannot put it in the comments or it censors it

It’s the engine. It doesn’t render light like flares and casino light usually. You would need a mod in order to really make it light up.

Has anyone solved the morse code? Or knew the chess play? I think the code was mostly a chess move. Also about the cave at the end could it be out of bounds to one from the main game??
