Cools down a 12 x 12 foot room in good time. It does make noise when running. Not an big issue for me.

The AC unit is outside in the sun then unless you've got a temperature sensor that sits inside it's going to think it's always hot and never kick out in other words bye bye batteries lol
@MichaelSTaylor

If the unit were really smart it would have a setting that allowed a temperature sensor in the remote to work the main unit's output.

Good luck coming East. I’m in Chattanooga on the TN/GA state line and it was 95 degrees and 97% humidity today. Swamp coolers do not work in the southeast. I’m not sure what that unit uses, so it might work. We need to use a dehumidifier all year round, not just in the winter. Best of luck! Stay cool, my friend. ❤TN Nana

It will never know it gets to temp in the camper if you don't run camper air over the thermistor on the evaporator.

Youbwould honestly be better off if you put the unit inside and use the in and out vents for the hot side (condenser side)

Oh....lol....and of you were pulling camper air across the .....evaporator....the unit wouldn't have to cool as much....having it on your rack is pulling in 86 degree airboutside and cooling it to 65 degrees. If you were pulling camper air...it would be pulling 75 degree air and cooling it rather than 86 degree air.

know your camper small but if you put it in side it will be more efficient ...cooling down cooler air or if you can plum the intake in from your camper air. I'm from the south and east and your definitly going to need the AC and no gaps in the screens for the bugs

Hey Phil, you think you'll do an end of season review of your Kodiak Canvas tent before you put it up for the year? Now that you've spent a whole winter with it setup.

Cover the black tube going in and I bet air will be cooler. Definitely cover the outside unit. That's a nice ac unit thanks

My question is how does the thermostat work? Is it on the unit that is outside?

You should hook up the return to the ac unit It will help control the temp. And shut off at set temperature!

Given the fact that the power supply is black, I would find a spot in the shade for it, so the sun isn't beating on it.

Hard mount it into the front is the camper with a quick disconnect so you can close the fabric tent and keep more of that cold in is what I would do!

Phil, you can use stove pipe foil tape to seal your air duct into your Velcro window and that stuff is easily removable. Should you need to take it off at a later date I actually find that that foil heating duct tape is extremely useful for a lot of different things.

I looked that cooler up. It is a swamp type cooler, and works best in areas of low humidity, as it depends on the evaporative cooling process. Be careful in those tight spaces though. It does add moisture to the air, and if that condenses, it could lead to mildew issues, especially in those hard to reach, out of the way spots inside. The plus side to this is, it is a very energy efficient method of cooling. Probably not as big of an issue in there as it would be in a standard travel trailer, but something to keep in mind.

No it isn’t, it uses refrigerant and has a compressor. Swamp coolers require a water supply to drip on a filter that you blow air through.

@@esiebert7625 You are correct. I was looking through specs and mistook a section comparing this to a swamp cooler, as this being a swamp cooler. BTW, I am the same person as metaglypto......

For the ac unit, if you can cover the unit with something to shade it, and use insulated tubing to reflect the light, maybe use a dryer hose and slide it over the tube, you will see even cooler temps! Awesome video!

I've been looking into air units. Man, they are pricey. For now I have a 5000 btu window unit and a Yamaha 2000 generator. I would run the air at night when there is no sun for solar and the altinator won't be running either. So adding more battery and a zero breeze system would be close to $3000.00.

There can be a lot of mosquitos out East, so be sure to close the gap around the hose. Also, depending on how far you go, Jeep Fest is in Toledo August 4-6. It'll have 70,000 people and will even have an RC rock crawling course for you.

Been looking at these myself, namely the Ecoflow. Have you thought about the Dometic RTC 12v AC? I feel like the Dometic would be perfect for your setup. Low profile and mounts to your roof. Unfortunately it won’t work with my iKamper rtt. Being on an angle may cause problems.
