I am glad you are talking about this because overconsumption, addiction, debt etc. are all very real issues in the perfume community. It's healthy to think and talk about it. I have bought too many perfumes and made mistakes and impulsive decisions myself, but I am trying to better myself and slow down and use up some perfumes that I have at this point and I appreciate this type of content!

No one should criticize anyone for collections things ,we are all going through our own stuff For me I struggle with having to much stuff because I am a minimalist inside and so it’s a struggle for me because I want to declutter my life but buy more stuff at the same time 😱

the way I control my collection is, the small boxes that I have them stored in, when they are full, I can’t buy anymore, so I have to use some up in order to buy more. I’m very happy with where I am with mine, no guilt. And I love all that I have. Everything gets used.

Fragrance addiction has been so weird for me. I dont even know what started it. I just happened across a video about ariana grande perfumes and ended up loving how cute the bottles were so i ordered Ari. Immediately addicted as soon as i got it. Lol been on the hunt for new fragrances ever since 😂

I too feel slightly guilty about the money I have spent and think of what it could have gone to instead. I have sold many of my not so favorites on Mercari, but you never come close to breaking even. Also, when you are constantly looking for a better version of a favorite, you end up not loving one you were perfectly happy with before. And I am sick of wasting time wearing fragrances that don’t give me the most joy. I enjoy fragrance as aroma therapy and want those benefits every time. The guilt of never reaching for something or just being overwhelmed with the choice is very real.

Hi Carmen! I stopped collecting makeup the beginning of this year. I have enough for me to be reincarnated THREE TIMES!!!! I went through a phase of collecting matching shoes and handbags. I’m 74 and lived in an era of being matchy!😂 it’s a hard habit to break! Now my new passion is fragrance. I used to have one bottle at a time, use it up, and repurchase. That ship has sailed!!!😂😂😂 You can’t please everyone, so please yourself. Share your feelings People don’t have to watch! My favorite Chanel is the original Coco eau de parfum. My downfall is that I can’t possibly wear them all. I store them in the dark. Even wearing 3 a day, and never use them up. I share with my granddaughter. We decant what we have and share with each other.

I gave up on a lot of things too! When I was focusing on perfume. I had a no buy of anything else and did great! Only because I was obsessed with perfume. Now I'm trying to find something productive to be obsessed about lol.

Everything you are saying really resignates with me. I feel like collecting perfume has become an addiction. I feel guilty for spending so much money but yet I keep buying all the new stuff that keeps coming out. I never know what perfume to wear. I worry about them going bad. I feel pressure from my own self to finish a lot of bottle so it doesn't seem wasteful and excessive. I have put myself on a no buy for 6 months so I can just enjoy what I have. I am just hoping I can stick to my goal not to buy anymore.

Thank you for sharing!! You can do it!! Try to not keep up with all the new releases by not getting too invested. I'm working on that too! I haven't bought a single one for 2 months! I go back and forth with overdoing it and then go on no buys! Lol. I'm focused on decluttering and selling what I can for now. I'm investing time on other things too, like makeup and nails. To keep my mind occupied lol

Just a few days ago I went to my mall, as I walked through the mall, I was super aware of our need to consume and the need to sell constantly (Commerce). Entering the main store was even overwhelming: dozens of make up stands, products everywhere, things. Objects, clothes, shoes. It is Capitalism, it can possess you in lieu of you possessing the object.

I've become so aware of that too! I talked a bit more about that on my other channel too. It's such an internal battle to be fully aware yet still have the urge to purchase. I'm working on it and learning as I go. I went all out for black friday (online) and purchased a whole coffee station set up (espresso maker and coffee grinder). I ended up coming go my senses and returning everything before I opened it. I had a moment of weakness but tried to correct it😬

To whoever sees this comment: As someone with ~60 perfumes (decants, bottles, and minis), I feel like I dont have a huge collection according to KZbin perfume standards but still big enough that it shocks the average person. I hear passive aggressive comments like "you're definitely the most fragranced person in the room" or that i smell strongly or like old lady or "pica". To get through a perfume AND wear all of them means you need to declutter or spray more often, so overspraying or applying multiple times of the day happens or taking a loss on 3rd party sites. Then because you're obsessed (like me!), you are constantly on the hunt for the next thing. Then the comments start. People (who like to say that they dont judge people for what they spend $ on) come after me for buying perfume and ask me how much I spend in an order; they are incredulous. They ask, "how are you gonna wear all of this? You don't need this. Why are you wasting your $ on this instead of saving/investing/other? Why get rid of perfumes and then buy more?!" Yada yada yada. Then I feel guilty but also defensive. If anyone else feels like this, realize that yes, you can have your hobby as long as you are being responsible about it. Obviously don't buy stuff because people told you that it's so amazing. Make sure that YOU enjoy it. Who cares about other people- that person doesnt have to look at/pay/care for the perfume! Also do NOT go into debt for fragrances! If you are a fragrance enthusiast, that is totally fine as long as it doesn't take over your life. You don't need my permission to do anything, I am telling YOU, the reader, that you can do as you want, but I beg you, please be smart about it! Thanks for reading my rant. :)

Yes!! Everything you said!! 🙌 I've heard comments like that! I literally don't even show people my Collection anymore. I showed someone my scent of the day once(Girl of Now) and they said it smelled like "old lady" 🥲 it must've been the orange blossom. I've heard the ones about how I'll never use them up or the money ones too!! People are so judgy!! 60 is definitely large in the real world but I think that's a good amount for a collector. Not too much but still have so much variety. KZbin can skew our perspective sometimes.

Appreciate your totally realistic, relatable upload content❤ Due to a sense of overwhelm with my collection, my goal for the New Year is to do the “one sentence” challenge (recently uploaded by Dr Claire) wherein I’ll write a creative ‘one sentence’ description of how the fragrance smells to me. In doing so, I feel I’ll be able to identify those I truly love from those I no longer want - with those I no longer want, my goal is to photograph, package-up, list & sell. The later is something I’ve never done, so any tips would absolutely be welcome.

Some of my negatives is: cost but I go for cheapys, time expense of selling what you dislike, feeling like you want to try all of a certain category, wish list a mile long, my sense of smell changes frequently & it's frustrating, sometimes I can't wear what I feel like because of work/others. Collection 69 total: 8 freebies, 4 gifts, 24 minis, 33 bottles from cheap stores/Mercari.
