This song has actually helped me with my faith, along with several of their other songs. They are one of the most impactful bands for me that I’ve ever listened to. The songs these guys have written amaze me. Such genuineness and sincerity in their words and voices. Marc Martel also has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. I was also averse to Christian music but because of Marc's audition, I've come to appreciate it. Love downhere. It's ironic and sweet how Freddie and Marc's destinies are entertwined. Freddie Mercury--who some uptight religious people would regard as living a sinful promiscuous life--his memory would be honored by a Christian man and vice versa. Freddie's legend has brought non-Christians here.

As a huge Queen fan, I have always been conflicted by Freddie's lifestyle versus his most amazing talent. A talent that surely came from GOD. Freddie did sing GOD's praises in many songs, and so I must believe that through his persona, he was a believer. Anyway, Downhere is an amazing band and Marc's voice is truly a blessing. Another example of GOD's way of reminding us of what is really important. Amen.

I know none of them were in music for the money. But the truth of the matter is that, except for the "ULTRA successful" groups and individuals, there is VERY LITTLE money to be made in Christian music. For every Mercy Me and Casting Crowns, there are many groups that lose money on every album and tour. The sad reality is, that studios front the money for albums, and so get ALL of their investment back before the artist gets a penny. Then they continue to take a percentage after that as well. So, lets say an album takes $20,000 to produce (a very small budget actually.) After retailers and warehouses get their cut, the record company makes about $3 an album. So they have to sell 7000 albums before profit is actually going to the artists. Lets say they sell 20,000 more albums. That makes them about $30,000 to be split between the four band mates. About $7,500 for at least 6 months work. Most people would call that slave wages. Thankfully, direct sales, downloads and crowd funding has freed many artists from this grind. (and Centricity still gets the dimes from viewers of this KZbin video, probably none of it going to Downhere.) Gold and Platinum records sell half million or a million, but you will only see a few Christian artists attain sales anywhere near these levels.
