The Downings sang at my church. I had such a crush on Greg. I was 17. After church before the mid-afternoon gospel singing service, I drove Sue & Greg to my house to meet my parents. What a fun day. Still have a Downings album. Still love this kind of music.

I agree with ya brother, love to hear this group sing, and Greg Gordon was one of the best. He sang with the Imperials for a little while, and last I heard was singing with a family group. He a really good dude!

A bit of trivia here: Greg Gordon’s mother, Anna, and his dad, Howard, were members of the world famous Chuck Wagon Gang along with his aunt Rose and uncle Jim. Greg and I both were members of Tanya Tucker’s band in the mid 70’s. Greg was an amazing singer and song writer. We traveled many a mile together.

The Imperials "Jesus made my Higher" album version had him as vocalist. That's how i found this. I looked him up and he was only with them a very short while. So good! Try that song!

It's a shame Greg Gordon left Southern Gospel and went to country. I seen one of the youtube postings of his appearance with The Goldens. To me he has gone to the dogs. But that's my opinion.
