There are lots of things to talk about when it comes to sheet music on the iPad. Let me know if you have questions for future videos.

Thank you so much for your tutorial. I've been wanting to go paperless and have been overwhelmed just thinking about it. The speed in your tutorial was very easy to follow. Thanks for sharing with us.

Oh good, I'm glad the tutorial was helpful. It's all about deciding how you want to organize your music and coming up with a workflow so you can get started. Paperless is so convenient! Good luck!

Thank you for the quick tutorial! How do you separate or file your piano and harp music on ForScore?
@GarryBurgess4 жыл бұрын
I'm thankful that the new ipad Pros stick very nicely and securely - magnetically to any metal music stand.
@annecrosbygaudetmusic4 жыл бұрын
Oh that's very handy! Mine doesn't do that so I definitely need the iKlip to keep the iPad secure.

Thank you SO very much!!! Such a nice music stand I’ve never seen one where an IPad is attached.

You’re welcome! It’s so handy! And the iPad Pro is large enough that I don’t have to guess at the notes 😉

I have been using ForScore for ages. It is so helpful and useful. I also use a pedal page turner.
@annecrosbygaudetmusic5 жыл бұрын
birdwood P Yes, me too! I’m thinking 2013 for me. My pedal page turner gets a lot of use as well! I started with an iPad mini, then an Air and now the iPad Pro so now I can actually see the notes 🤓

Great, glad it helped! The Air Turn pedal makes those page turns much easier!

Hi Ann, my name is Walter is just watched your video and found it to be quite inspiring. I'm about to download ForScore . It seems to be exactly what the doctor ordered. Oh by the way, I don't play the harp. I play keyboards. If a song has maybe 3 or 4 sheets will ForScore stack them all into my iPad?
@RichardSmith-sw4bq2 жыл бұрын
My earlier question about notes (annotation) was answered by watching the video by Jonathan Roberts of South Shore Piano School on using ForScore. It was also helpful!

Great! There are a lot of good forScore videos out there! Now that you've watched these ones I'm sure KZbin will direct you to more of them LOL!

I like the sound of that! Are you using ForScore?

Well, thanks to this video, I convinced myself I needed a new iPad so I could download Forescore. It has arrived and I’m up and running with a 12.9” screen. It was so easy to move all your sheet music over to Forescore from iBooks. I’ve heard there are Bluetooth foot pedal page turners...but not sure if they would work with Forescore (not that I’m good enough to need one, anyway).
@annecrosbygaudetmusic4 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your new iPad! It makes my music life so much easier! I use a bluetooth foot pedal to turn pages and it works beautifully in ForScore.

Anne Crosby Gaudet any suggestions on the pedal?
@RichardSmith-sw4bq2 жыл бұрын
Customarily I print off all of my pieces, place them in plastic sleeves and keep them in a binder. However, as my collection has grown in size, so has my difficulty finding and organizing my music since a binder can only hold so many sheets. A friend of mine recently asked why I didn't just store and display the music on my iPad. Then I saw your tutorial. It really spoke to me. I also viewed your tutorial on saving your music. What great timing! A question: One reason for using paper has been to allow for hand - written notes, fingering suggestions, etc. Does ForScore allow this? Thanks for this - it has been really helpful!
@annecrosbygaudetmusic2 жыл бұрын
Yes, forScore does a great job with writing on your score (especially if you have an Apple pencil). You can adjust the pen tool to any color or even highlighter. Very handy! You can delete your markings and start fresh whenever you like.

I purchased forScore, followed your directions, but at the download step it came up, Open in "Notes Writer" Any suggestions? I don't know what to do.
@annecrosbygaudetmusic3 жыл бұрын
I wonder if it would show up if you opened ForScore on your iPad first and then shared the file. ForScore should show up in the list of options under "Open with..."

Sounds like you need to learn how to use "Bookmarks" in Forscore. Do a search on KZbin, you'll find a tutorial.
@AGC8283 жыл бұрын
ForScore sounds like THE sheet music iPad app. Is there any app that can also follow where the player is in the music and auto turn the pages? Or is that task still too difficult to program into an app? I thought by now there would be a few apps that can do this. No?
@annecrosbygaudetmusic3 жыл бұрын
I've been using ForScore for pretty close to 10 years now, so for me it's definitely THE sheet music app. I haven't explored the feature of having an app auto turn pages for me (other than using a foot pedal), but as I recall ForScore can do this with the iPhone. I'm sure a quick search on KZbin will take you to someone who shows this feature.

Can you add notes to the sheet music? For example adjustments for smaller harps?
@annecrosbygaudetmusic4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I use my Apple Pencil. If you select 'white" you can white out notes or fingering that you don't want. Then select 'black" and draw in the notes or fingering that you do want. You can always clear the page to start over.

Great tutorial Anne! Love ForScore! Metadata tagging is a new learning for me, so thank you for walking through that. I’ll be quite busy adding info to the contents of my library. After doing so, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that I have more of your compositions than anyone else’s. :) Side question ... what stand do you use for your iPad?
@annecrosbygaudetmusic5 жыл бұрын
ChoirFly Thanks for watching 💕 It’s a bit of work catching up on metadata, but I think it’s worth it. Composer, time and key are the ones I find most useful. The stand I use is called iKlip and it just attaches to a mic stand.

Going into 4th year music in piano. Is the ipad model you have adequate for your needs for sheet/composition? I keep wanting to splurge on the Ipad pro.
@annecrosbygaudetmusic4 жыл бұрын
I don't actually use my iPad to notate music, though there are some apps that do a fairly good job. You might want to explore MuseScore (free) and you would use it on a laptop or desktop.

Dear Anne, I am writing to ask you a question I have, I am a pianist and I am about to buy an iPad to use as a score reader, and I cannot decide as to the inches that I should use. the question is if there is so much difference between the 12'9 and the 11 when using it to read music. Is the 12'9 worth sacrificing portability? or in the one of 11 one is comfortable at the time of doing it?
@annecrosbygaudetmusic4 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry I missed replying to your question! By now you have probably made your purchase! When I bought my 12'9 I knew it would be primarily be used for reading music in my studio and doing worksheets with my young piano students. It's attached to the stand most of the time. Personally, I find it too large and heavy for normal device use (normal being things like email, social media etc). So I guess it really depends on how you plan to use it. What did you end up choosing?

If I get the ForScore App can I download previously purchased pieces from your website.
@annecrosbygaudetmusic5 жыл бұрын
harper mary What you would want to do is transfer the PDFs from your computer (I’m assuming they are saved on a desktop) to your iPad. I use Dropbox so I can copy all the files there then access them in ForScore. That might be another tutorial! But that lets you do a big batch all at once.

Anne Crosby Gaudet ok thanks Anne!

What brand & type of I PAD do you recommend for downloading sheet music? I'm a pianist btw. Thanks for any help.
@annecrosbygaudetmusic4 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, over the years I have used everything from a mini to a Pro. It really depends on your eyesight and how portable you need to be.
@Dorian01ish4 жыл бұрын
@@annecrosbygaudetmusic I use granny glasses so I need the music to be as close as possible to regular sheet music size. Also, I have noticed that, even though the Boox Max 3 seems to be the ideal device you still can't show but one page of sheet music at a time. Even though I would plan on using the Page Flip Fire Fly to turn the pages with, the idea I would have to press the pedal for each individual sheet seems a bit overwhelming to me. Of course, I've never tried it, so I really can't judge that aspect of it, I suppose. The Boox Max 3 appeals to me because there is no back light coming from behind the music. The Boox Max 2 would be more affordable, but I understand there's no support out there for it anymore. Also, if that's the case, even purchasing the newest version - how long would the support last for THAT model? You know? Anyway, your thoughts?

Hi. I just installed “For Score” and am considering a new iPad Pro 12.9. I can’t decide how much storage space I will need and the difference in price is considerable. Can you make some suggestions? Thank you.
@annecrosbygaudetmusic4 жыл бұрын
Well, PDFs tend to be quite small in size. In my ForScore I have over 500 pieces of sheet music and it's only using about 700MB of storage. So it's more about how you plan to save video and photos, those are the items that use a lot of storage space.
