A small niche but a valuable one: the "Mentor Diver", level 40+ these divers join quickplay missions on low difficulty just to find a team of low levels, if there is any player over lv20 in the lobby or its an exterminate mission they imediately exit back to their ship to re-queue, once they find a game with low levels they will only bring equipment with the intention of giving it to their teammates, they stay with the team and provide tips, instruct them on enemy weaknesses and provide as much knowledge as possible. They always give hugs after missions and support the team moral, if any diver dies for any reason, the mentor always blames themselves.

The clumsy veteran: We were seconds away from being over run. "Grab my samp..." cried E1, as he was engulfed in flame by the hulk. There was no time to process his death, the hulk was turning towards me with a grinding mechanical screech. I turned an ran, preparing to hear the spluttering roar of the flamethrower. W3 was still alive, at least I hope she was, the last I saw of her was a steady muzzle flash retreating into the mist. The booming heavy machine gun faded into the distance followed by a clanking avalanche of walkers and raiders. "FOR DEMOCRACY!" I panted, as my trembling hands programmed a beacon. I threw it behind me over my shoulder and dived over the wall into the ditch. By some miracle I missed the mines, but I landed badly and heard a crunch from my leg. It was the last thing I heard before the orbital railcannon ripped through the hulk with a deafening crack. Ears ringing, I dragged myself onto my feet as red bolts hailed into the ground around me. With a vice-like grip on the handle of my breaker I sprayed suppressive fire as I stumbled behind a nearby rock for cover. I was far from unscathed. My right arm and shoulder were dotted with smouldering craters. I gazed upon my last stim, trying to see the pointy end through pain-blurred vision. I stabbed my neck. The cold pain of the sharp needle was a brief escape from the fear and agony. I felt my heart thump in my chest, my vision began to clear and the ringing in my ears lessened, only to be replaced by the noise of heavy vehicle tracks. Strength returning, I peeked over the rock and stared down the barrel of a tank. As I prayed to liberty for a swift end, my battered helmet chimed "allied super destroyer has entered orbit". A streak of flaming metal slammed into the tank, distracting it from me. A new helldiver, L4, rose from the tank as the barrel began to rotate towards them. L4 dove off the back of the tank, shotgun in hand, and unleashed a blinding torrent of plasma into the vents. The tank exploded as L4 landed on their back between the legs of a walker. A beam of light erupted from their sidearm and the headless pilot slid down the side of its' limp vehicle. L4 whriled around and obliterated a squad of raiders with 3 elegantly placed orbs of plasma. Fingers moving with practiced speed, L4 hurled a beacon into the centre of the automaton fortress and sprinted towards me. "Run!" they ordered. As I turned, another beacon flew from L4s hands landing ahead of me. L4 changed direction, sprinting towards the fog where W3 had been chased. Behind me I heard the glorious boom of 380 shells ripping apart the fort. Not daring to look I continued to run, feeling the shrapnel of dead bots patter off my billowing cape. I noticed plasma screeching through the fog, followed by the sounds of collapsing walkers. I know not to empathise with the enemy, but I'm sure I heard fear in the binary screams of detonating bots. My visor lit up. OBJECTIVE COMPLETED. EXTRACTION AVAILABLE. I nearly cried with joy. I sprinted towards the extraction zone, the thudding bombardment fading into the distance behind me. W3 had already reached the extraction site by the time I got there, the shuttle had already been called, but I couldn't see L4. Before I had time to worry, my visor glowed with SAMPLES COLLECTED. I saw the reassuring flash of plasma, but it was coming from where E1 had died. It was getting closer! I saw L4 in the distance heading towards us but my hope was replaced with fear as I saw a raider to the west fire a red flair into the sky. I jammed another stim into my neck and scrambled to find an ammo box. The automaton dropship got closer then suddenly a bright laser beamed across the sky, destroying the dropship's engine. As the dropship crashed to the ground I saw the shadow of a pelican race towards us. I turned to W3 and shouted "It's here! Fall back!" W3 ran to me but was cloaked by the shadow of a 2nd dropship, under it hung a hulk like nightmarish fruit. I fired into it but my rounds pinged off. L4 leaped towards me and shouted "get in" while hauling the giant laser cannon off their back. Both W3 and the hulk got closer to the shuttle, the hell machine was drawing it's guns on W3, she didn't have time. I look back to L4, standing on a platform, their colossal weapon was buzzing with power. Through the scope they saw the centre of the hulk. Suddenly L4 twists their ankle and stumbles off the side of the platform, their aim shifts to the light pole right in front of them. As L4 falls, the huge gun fires a beam that explodes into the obstructing infrastructure, L4 is turned into red mist within the fireball and W3 is cut down by heavy gunfire. The objective was complete, but it was a lonely ride back to my ship.

"Sample Junkie Diver". This is the Sample Runner Diver that after completing all their ship upgrades evolved their sample collection strategy to perfection and will not rest until all your samples are done as well. You will always see them running in a scout armour with a do-it-all-yourself loadout. They always branch off from the team to solo the side objectives and to destroy the bug nests and fabricators to gain acces to those tasty samples. It doesn't matter if that makes the mission harder, cause it's all about the samples and nothing else. This one diver army will reinforce you out of pity until it is the time for the extraction as they will hide in a corner and not call you in to avoid you leading enemies to them and blowing their cover. The Sample Junkie may not get you out, but you can be sure of them to get at least 30 samples of some sorts out for you as they will not rest until every god damn ship on the Helldivers fleet has been fully upgraded.

How about the "support diver"? I like to think of myself as one. Characteristics: 1. May not be good at soloing missions. 2. Checks which stratagems you are bringing and adjusts accordingly to bring what is needed to help complete the mission. 3. Is the guy that has memorized the arrow sequence of the reinforce, resupply, and supply pack stratagems. 4. Makes it the point to be near the frontlines in case you need help, but will make it a point to not draw aggro. Will always go for the commissars first. 5. May bring atleast one turret to help clear hordes of enemies or cover allied retrea... I mean... advance... allied advance to the next objective. 6. May bring a 'guard dog' at all times so they can focus on resupplying allies and clearing objectives without worrying about getting attacked. 7. Runs any armor that gives them extra stims or grenades. 8. May run energy weapons so that you won't have to compete with them for all the ammo you need. 9. Alternatively, may bring weapons that stagger enemies. 10. Makes sure everyone gets to extract and may get frustrated when this does not happen.

My group and I am definitely a mixed bag of all these types, and we're all for it, we had one we joked about being the Stim Junkie for the longest time, now we have the enhanced boosted stims, and suddenly he stopped using them so much, now is basically the stealth diver but also brings the Spear and loves to shoot things down from across the map

The Doctor Diver. I run this a lot. I carry ems strikes, shield generators, supply pack. Fully kit myself up to support others with stims, ammo reloads, and reprieves from fire. Not quite stim junkie though. If anything i reserve stims exclusively for others.

Teamplay / Chill diver. It has been mentioned before, but I would like to add to it that they will: A. Often plays levels 1 - 4/5 solo, 5/6 and up only in teamplay B. Covers you if you're falling behind or being slow, so you can catch up C. Just tries to make the match fun for both themselves and squadmates D. Doesn't start with mic on, but will respond when able or want to, if not they use emotes E. Responds to SOS beacons when they feel like it

I would categorize myself in three ways. The Opportunist Diver: While everyone else distracts the enemies, I will sneak around the edge of the battlefield to reach the primary objective and complete it unimpeded, retreating to a different objective if I get spotted. The Versatile Diver: I crave a loadout that covers *all* situations in a satisfactory manner, like a swiss army knife. I may take longer to handle certain tasks than I would if I brought more specialized tools, but I can get any job done eventually. The Consistent Diver: I refuse to change up my loadout for different missions and situations. It's pointless to even look at the mission type or faction, because I'll be using the same weaponry and Stratagems no matter what.

The Tour Guide here. Started realizing different worlds have different atmospheres, assets, visuals, complications, hazards, etc. Keeping a running list of favorite worlds with best aesthetic and convenience. Learning which worlds have annoying cliffs that block stratagems, what natural hazards like thorns or exploding plants they have, how visibility is in regards to ambient dust/fumes/mist or weather effects. And I am absolutely planning on picking my battles based on which worlds I enjoy the scenery most. Gotta bring the best worlds back to Democracy first, after all. And for the worst worlds... the bigger the bombs, the better.

The jet pack jockey (me) we usually like to do a variety of things, like use the jet pack to travel faster, to find really high spots or kinda be martyr divers. Favored weapons are rail guns, quasars, or antimaterial rifles. We are focused on helping but do have a nasty habit of never leaving team mates behind, we use our packs to get to each team mate and try to help them get out of sticky situations or try to 1 up snipers by using our rail guns to kill hulks faster or get blown up by our teammates orbital/eagle drops. We mean well we try to help, sometimes we are just pains in the ass.

Trail Blazer: Always going ahead of the group and taking out patrols and fabricators that would be in the way. A certain amount of skill is required for this and sometimes you can find people who THINK they are helping but just get into a reinforcement loop. This causes a wall of tanks and factory striders to spawn! They are always at the extraction point early but don’t call in extract until everyone is there. They are there early seating up mines (in the correct places, leaving room to fight on point) and placing centuries.

The rodeo clown/ distraction diver: they typically are being chased by hordes of enemies (usually bugs), being targeted by several large enemy units (chargers typically), and constantly managing to get surrounded by bugs they either manage to weasel their way out or distract the enemies long enough to get cover fire and escape. If they don’t make it they usually die in the goofiest ways possible. This leads to laughs all around as their corpse flies off to the other side of the map or the accidental run straight into a land mine. These divers take all the trouble in stride and laugh off most bad situations.

The Chaos Goblin Diver, generally will run straight at objectives/secondaries/POIs face first ignoring any enemies in the way. Experienced Goblins are generally good enough that they can clear a nest/base just running through the middle of it barely even breaking stride... Generally good to have on a Squad but don't get too close because they will *not* announce their strategems as they go, and they can get into trouble if a large patrol camps on their corpse repeatedly running face first into the patrol, only to die again, trying to retrieve their gear

The Underage diver. This Helldiver might be a little young for all the blood and gore, yet their parents still let them play for the sake of it, or to play with them. Once they started playing the game, they just get addicted to it, and play it every single day. They might mix up their gameplay with different stratagems, and also might not know the lore behind the game, yet they still play. Also, like the casual diver from last video, they play different games now and then, but ever since they were introduced to helldivers, this was their main game to play.

I, personally, call myself the Geurilla Tactics Diver. I am a heavily armed shadow in the dark. Autocannon, 500kg, Rail Cannon Strike, Smoke Strike (for Batmanning back into the shadows), Defender, Stun Grenades and stealty armor. Hit em hard and fast. If things go south I retreat, reposition, and reengage. But I mainly play bots. Against bugs im the hit and run diver. Mostly the same toolkit but I try and take wide angles my team aren't covering and focus medium and heavies with my autocannon, railcannon strike, and stun grenade/500kg combo.

the slow and steady progression diver: Someone who might not have as many hours as the sweaty diver but will log in every day and play 1-3 missions. They get satisfaction by closing out warbond pages one by one but don't feel the need to grind medals as fast as possible. For them the progression is about the journey not the destination.

Started just last week, and while I discovered me and my friends are absolutely the Anti-Meta Divers from the last list (my friend Max is very excited to have a flamethrower stratagem, primary, and secondary come the next warbond), I have encountered a new type. The Medic Diver. Like the Stim-Junkie, but is genuinely keeping everyone alive. Rarely uses stims on themselves and stays close to others, waiting until one is low on health and will race through heavy fire to get close and heal them.

The commando Diver: Will typically go off by themselves to complete part or all of the mission objectives and still find the time to destroy the drop ship you didn't stop from being called in from halfway across the map with the quazar cannon. These divers will likely show up at the last minute with super samples in tow and having taken out everything in a swath around the map without themselves ever dying. They are freaking SAS Commandos on steroids.

What about the Abandoned Diver, the dude who is with a team, for every bit of 3 minutes, and is left behind. This dude either dies FREQUENTLY without assistance, or is a Survivor Diver: the guy who if left alone will complete the mission, the 2ndary objectives, and never dies.. the S.D usually is alone because nobody joins their lobby, and has perfected their abilities through trial by combat in difficulties 5-7 solo.
