Downloading 50 EXTRA HP To My TURBO PT Cruiser *Ripper*

The Plymouth Prowler was carrying the Plymouth brand and the PT Cruiser was supposed to follow it up and save the brand... that never happened of course, Chrysler pulled the plug on Plymouth in 2001 and the PT Cruiser became a Chrysler. I bought this cheap convertible Touring Edition that has hardly been out of the garage to see what it's like. It might be a GT Cruiser but apparently no one know what engine is in what.

@ i enjoyed it for a couple of years in my cruiser, but like they say keeping it stock made it easier to sell. Watching the work JR had to do to get it working in his car is why I couldn’t sell the computer. At the time, the only option would have been to have a dealer install and reprogram. That was costly.

The GTs were fun. Had an 03 with the Mopar Stage 1, needswings hard pipes, 3” downpipe with electronic cutout, and DiabloSport Predator that Dyno’d at 227whp and 281wtq. Stock it dyno’d a whopping 160whp. Used to roast the tires at half throttle over 3500 rpm. Had modded stock air box with K&N drop in which supposedly saw more gains than the K&N or AirRaid cold air.

I had a GT crusier and loved it for day to day driving. Boost around 19 lbs if I remember correctly. The automatic transmission was the weak link and the clutches started slipping badly!

Reminds me of my focus st, threw an axle back exhaust, cold air, intercooler and a stage 2 tune and it felt and sounded like a whole different car. The flat foot shifts were so much fun and I had really ridiculous sounding blow off valve as well.

I had a blues SRT4, and I had the Mooar Stage 3 kit. It was amazing amd included so much with the kit. Lots of wiring needed to be done, but totally worth it. What a fast little car, sucks it was fwd because it made a ton of torque on the Stage 3 kit when running high octane. It had a turbo toys control panel that came with the kit and controlled the intercooler sprayers, boost level and the high octane race mode. JR Go you need to find one.

Great video the engine did sound amazing and I think that it's very promising to make newer four-cylinders sound and perform even better. Gives me hope. I have "informed delivery" setup with USPS. I had had three things within the last 3 months that have shipped all the way to the local distribution office the day before it was supposed to be delivered. I'm in SC. One went to another location in SC, one went to somewhere in Florida and one went to Denver. Of course all of them were at least a week late. Grab an agp stealth wastegate a cold air intake and you'll essentially have a stage 1 tune.. Also a bov for a Honda or Hyundai turbo will work on these cars td04 turbo.

Direct Connection used to sell all the speed parts and manuals/catalogs. I have one from the early 80s and it has all kinds of goodies for the old school and front drive cars they used to sell. Parts numbers etc for things you'll only find used at swap meets etc. There's a whole section for the slant 6 even.

@@redneck4528 I had to loosen the passenger side etc on my 95 Neon coupe when I replaced the water pump and did the timing belt. All kinds of fun and took me forever having never done a timing belt/pump before. Plus I kept having to buy or rent tools I didn't have. The PT would be even worse with the lack of room in the engine compartment.

I just read your text, all pt cruiser turbo used the same 2.4T engine shared with the srt-4 ,. after introduction Daimler Chrysler released a lower output version of the PT cruiser rated around 180hp versus the 210-220 hp that was sold under the GT name,. the big difference was the automatic transmission the GT came with a stronger version of the A604-41TE transmission with a large torque converter while the 180 hp came with the same version of the transmission found in older cloud cars with the 2.4 non turbo

Also when parking your car in a parking lot, keep the front bumper several inches away from any of the yellow parking bars in each parking spot. The front end of this car is so low the front bumper guard is easily ripped off the car. It's not held on there by much actually. hahaha.

I run a reusable filter, oilless... the oily ones aren't friendly with air flow sensors. I don't think it's any better or worse than a paper filter as far as cleaning the air going in. it too, came with the car.

I wish my Mitsubishi Outlander Turbo 2005 (you didn't get them in the US) with the EVO VII engine with milder cams and a smaller turbo was easy and cheap to tune. In Japan they had the Airtrek Turbo-R which is the same engine but with a robotic transmission and 240 hp, according to the internet the Euro Outlander Turbo got detuned to 200 hp because of emissions... I wish i could just flash the 240 hp tune but apparently it's a whole thing with hours of mapping =( About $1000 US and about 1200 miles to and from a specialty shop would get me about 270 hp. EDIT: Speaking of the stock engine surviving 500 hp, the 4G63T might be one of the few that actually does! The transmission won't survive, especially in the heavier Outlander, but hey! The engine's STOUT =)
