Downloading LiDAR Data and Cleaning in CloudCompare

This tutorial details how to download and clean. It starts with an assumption of zero background in the materials. The softwares which need to be installed prior will be:
7-Zip - www.7-zip.org/ - for uncompressing downloaded .las
CloudCompare - www.danielgm.ne... - for point cloud processing.
The example site used for downloading the LiDAR data is:
www.geotree.uni...

how to import point cloud with .txt file in cloud compare

I believe that is relatively similar to .las import. For instance, on the www.geotree.uni.edu/lidar/ website there is an option to download ".xyzi" format data, that is X coordinate, Y coordinate, Elevation and Intensity. Cloud Compare doesn't recognize the ".xyzi" formate, but it can simply have it's file path renamed to ".txt" and then click the "File->open" and make sure the "Open Ascii File" Wizard which pops up uses the correct fields to populate the point cloud. If you already have a .txt file with the proper fields you can skip the file path renaming and just start from the opening step.
