Imma be honest, I needed to hear this. I was considering quitting my studies on Data Science to pursue a creative career like animation, design, music, etc... I'll still pursue it, as a hobby, not a "I need to do this to buy food and pay the bills" kind of thing. The part that hit the hardest was "yo'ure getting paid to make someone else's vision come true" and "producing a thing is very different from consuming it, don't let your emotions..." My idea is to slowly learn 3d modleing/animation in my free time, to a point where I'm confident sharing my work on youtube/social media and say "look, world, I'm good at it", then I'll let life surprise me lol. It might always only be a hobby, or who knows, maybe I can combine content creation and arts together for fun or for education, as I like the feeling of adding something to other people's lives. Again, Thanks!

Great video! All things I wish I knew before working as a creative in general. I’m not in 3d animation but all these sentiments seem to be widespread across creative fields. It can be painful to learn and see how little respect our professions get. I don’t fault anyone for leaving after seeing the realities of toxic companies and how much craft is overlooked for profits at the expense of people. Also working in the industry of something you enjoy, in a way makes me enjoy it less. Since consuming it reminds me of work.

Gotta admit, this DID dissuade me from pursing 3D animation. And I thought working in the space industry were bad! Pssh, nope. Not after seeing how these corporations treat their animators!

Glad to hear it was helpful! What specifically stood out to you about the treatment?

Great talk, the entire video is packed with great information and very little fluff! As a High school graduate looking into careers I would want to pursue, I found this video to contain some very interesting points. I think it was an apt summary at the end for our speaker to warn against a "naive" mindset going into this industry.

My opinion is that this industry can be really interesting and exciting because there are always changing technologies. I would say the only thing you have to worry about is burnout and anxiety when working

So what's your verdict? Still gonna pursue?
@potatoeheadvibez8 ай бұрын
@@splitspecs yup:) there are lows in every industry, but true passion for the work outweighs it most of the time.

@@splitspecs yep:) every career has its low and high aspect, true passion towards a goal or work can help to outweigh a negative side of it. But I feel like right now, it might be smart to have several passive of incomes because of all the instabilities lately.

Great vid! Yea it’s tough out there, especially now it seems. Lots of industry vets are having to take on low paying entry jobs so there is little to no openings for new people 🥲 The industry has its ebbs and flows

I've been experiencing burnout since graduating as soon as I started working and realizing this job is unstable. Is there alternate routes one can go that uses 3D skills?
