Downsizing my Kpop Collection 😭

I decided to start downsizing my kpop collection as it's too much for me now.
I'm very attached to most of my collection but I'm going to go it in stages, see how it goes.

Omg your room is a kpop museum 😂 I think it’s always good to downsize when things get overwhelming. I started collecting last year when I found Ateez and I bought one version of every album and I was happy with that. Then I snapped and went on a hunt for every single version of every single album (Japanese releases included😥), past seasons greetings, concert DVDs and photobooks. I got so stressed out because I had a lot of time on my hands and I was constantly looking on EBay and mercari Japan for older out of print items. At one point my collection was finally complete and very pretty to look at, but every time I looked at it all I could see was the amount of money and energy I had spent on it. So, I decided to downsize and only keep what truly mattered to me. Now I only collect one version of every album and for other non-album stuff, I get what I really like and want. This way of collecting is so much more fun and I love being surrounded by the things that actually add value to my life 🥰.

It is very easy to want a complete collection and go crazy trying to complete it, I use to be such a perfectionist about my collection. Plus the cost of shipping makes it so expensive along with all the versions we get now Like you said, it's best to have a collection thats special to you, though it's gonna be hard to say goodbye to some of mine 😭

During the first lockdown in 2020, I sold pretty much my entire kpop collection, including pcs, photobooks, concert dvds and lightsticks. I easily had hundreds of albums. It was hard at the time to decide to sell my ult groups, especially since a lot of it is now considered "rare" since they were 2nd gen groups. But you do genuinely feel refreshed and strangely free once you do a big clear out like that. During that time I left the kpop fandom since it had basically consumed my life for 7 years and decided to explore new interests. Only recently I have reintroduced myself back into Kpop and have started a new much more contained collection of only Twice and Stray Kids. Its hard because I remember times when I was hunt Ebay and Japan Proxy sites for hard to find albums and spend a bomb to get my hands on them just so they could sit getting dusty on my shelf 😅

That's amazing well done I'm definitely doing it slowly so we shall see, but its very hard. So many memories, I don't but many albums now, just my ults so much better behaved lol 😆

Having a large collection can be a lot of work, I can't imagine having to pack mine up, New nightmare mode unlocked lol I think its good to downsize and update your collection, that way you have what makes you happy. And I def hear you on the cutting back on buying new albums. Its not the cost of the album for me but the sipping which is just so expensive now. A $10 cd is $22 to ship. :/ I am like you thou I could never sell my BigBang, SuJu, SNSD or 2NE1. There are just certain groups you can't get rid of. Good luck with the move!!

Omg the shipping is crazy unbelievable price now! I can remember buying 2 albums and with shipping only costing me like £30! Its definitely changed alot 💸

Oh yes they really are so hard to fine, but if you check proxy sites like buyee they are usually ok 👍 I cherish SNSD & FX so much, I. Iss them 😪

And yes please, I would love like a recommendation video from you about great 2nd gen kpop music to check out. I got into kpop during the 3rd gen, so missed out on a lot of the 2nd gen music. I do really love Spica, 2ne1, Bigbang, Shinee. But haven’t checked out many other groups from 2nd gen.

you have such a huge second gen album discography! omg and back in those days, korean albums are even quite hard to purchase unlike now! how did you even manage to have so many especially as a European fan? btw i am so like you! my collection keeps on growing because of how much music the kpop industry is releasing nowadays that i have stopped buying for some groups as well, i want to downsize but i just couldnt get rid of my second gen kpop collection ever, i have tried to sell a few of them though, like my girl group albums, but i still have a lot T_T

Thank you for your comment, I've always bough my albums new from sites like kpop Market or yesasia back in the day, these albums were always available but sadly no longer 😢 I'd fine it so hard to say bye to alit of these albums so I completely understand we get so attached, so many memories 😍

I've also been trying to downsize my collection, although it's definitely not as big as yours, but I realized I had groups I wasn't interested in anymore and I'd rather the cds get a new home, which I hope they will. It hasn't been the easiest trying to sell them xD (I did put up a video on my channel if anyone's interested) And yeah, I haven't bought any Kpop album in years bc all the fees that my country added for packages outside the EU ruined it for me. It's saddening bc I'd like to buy albums that I like, but I haven't been able to for a long time now. Sure, there are online Kpop stores here but the prices are crazy :(

Its not an easy task indeed, but hoping to get some sorted for new homes soon, its not easy to sell in Europe, shipping is brutal! I get custom charge if items are over £135 but the shipping is just horrific 😫 If any BIGBANG member releases something though its worth every penny lol 😆

ahhh this seriously was like going down memory lane!! I also got into kpop in 2nd gen SOO I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND when you mean they just hit differently compared to some music now...i still always go back and watch alot of the old mvs of shinee, super junior ect because they were soo iconic >< III SQUEALLEDDD when you said you had a massive crush on Ljoe back then because SAMEEE HAHA....

i am so jealous of your collection.. also i thought it was funny that the 2 got7 albums you saved are the only 2 got7 albums i can’t give up either lol.. those eras just hit different.. i regret not collecting albums when i first got into kpop because all the 2nd gen groups are honestly so hard to find now :,)

I understand! I’ve been downsizing. While mine doesn’t look anything like yours I haven’t been feeling kpop lately as a gen 2 era fan it just isn’t the same. So many groups they all sound the same. I find it hard to genuinely like a group since Gfriend, bap, Big Bang, nct, and bp, I liked treasure at first but yg is lazy with them and idk if I’ll keep collecting

Yeah nothing quite like 2nd Gen, was the absolute best 👌 YG never over promotes their groups, always waiting for the next album to drop but its so exciting to watch them grow, take their first steps and see what happens next 🤗

I'm glad I found your video. I want to downsize my collection as well because it's just to much and also the photocards I don't know my family always tells me that I don't need that in the future if I sometimes get my own family and stuff like that. That when I'm older I don't need all of that. And I guess that I feel like it too so I want to get rid of albums that I don't like or listen to and only bought because I don't even know maybe because I wanted so start to stan a few groups but never got into them so yeah. 🥺 Also because it's a lot of money and I don't have this anymore. The Fansign cards uff I love them they are so cute but it's too much 🥺

It really is such a difficult decision tho as we get so attached to it all, a lot of special memories for the albums and photocards, hope you successfully downsize to a place your happy with, remember that it’s ok to keep most of it, just the ones you definitely collect, maybe just bias groups 🥰
