I use this build. s.orbis.zone/1cm_ - replace mining lasers with 5 ab and one seismic. Extra hull for limpet bumping (and the occasional asteroid) works like a charm. Just don't move wildly around while limpets are collecting. That is like swimming with piranhas. Fire abrasion blasters from above 800 m. to get 5 fragments You'll see the hard points converge at that range. 3-4 cores will fill up the cargo and also hopper. When you sell and free cargo space the hopper will spit out the last 6. I bring about 65 limpets which is more than plenty.

you can get like 150 mil per hour if you're lucky, opal hunting if you sell them at the proper port it's 1.6mil per unit. piracy is an actual thing because of this, i got interdicted by a guy who demanded 40 units, it was so awesome that i wasn't even mad XD

Through testing it seems that the strength of the fissures don’t mean you need to match a strength in seismic charge. The fissure strength seems to be tied in with the yield graph. The graph is really just a repeating three bars. I’ll explain. I shot only high strength fissures with the same level charge on my launcher and the graph raised as a whole, however the third repeating bar spiked much higher. It was in the blue while the rest was still yellow. So I disarmed a few and shot the same level charge into low strength fissures. This raised the first repeating section up but not the third section that was spiking earlier. Same level power but the bar had smoothed out a bit. Over the course of a few asteroids I figured how to get maximum yield. Spread the amount evenly between low, average, and high strength fissures. This will raise the yield bar in a more uniform pattern with less spikes. The trick is managing your shot power. For example if I only have 1 high strength and 3 low and 3 average. Then I would fire a high power shot into the high strength and low power shots into the other types. This would help spread the power around and raise the bar uniformly. Also I found that the more fissures you arm the higher the yield. I could crack and asteroid with 3 high power shots sure and maybe get 9 free chunks. But if I low power say all 9 fissure locations with a uniform bar, then I will get 18 chunks from the same asteroid. Hope this helps. i wish frontier would let you customize fighter ships more, like maybe putting the abrasive blasters on a fighter to fly in and hit all the resources in an asteroid while the large ships stays at a distance it can have limpets safely pick up materials, also maybe a kws to a fighter so it can go quickly scan ships for bounty hunters

I'd love to see some utility based ships for the fighter bay, maybe a mining focused one where it has maybe a scanner and one of the different mining tools. That way so it's more engaging for multi-crew and it offsets some of the sluggishness of many ships that might typically be used for mining have.

I recommend taking an ASP-X for deep core mining. i've managed to stay in the rings for a while and crack like 5 of those motherloads before i decided to turn back. Great for navigating around the roid, good view, you can have everything you need on it, pretty cheap imo. Only thing i kinda dislike is how it tends to drift but other then that it's been a pleasure mining in the thing. o7 good video keep it up!

I don't get* why people don't like it, but a type-9 or type-10 works just as good. I haven't had any problems using my type-9 to hit rings for fissures. Edited: *It appears that youtube demolished a word from my comment over time.

​@@xiiitalons 3 reasons: 1. low speed, so it takes longer to search for a fissure asteroid 2. clunky, so it takes longer to scrape off the surface deposits 3. bad jump range, so it takes longer to travel to systems that pays top price for the stuff you collected The ASP-X is pretty good on all three of these so I'd rather use that instead of a type-9 for core hunting.

In case anyone reading this doesn't know, while Void Opals aren't on EDDB.io yet, they ARE on Inara.cz so you can check to see who is buying them for the highest prices there. It should change fairly regularly by design, so look up the commodities page over there and it should let ya know the best spots to sell everything.

@@Piroschatz44 I'm seeing 1.6 on Inara, over on the "best sell" tab for Void Opals. I also just sold 50 of them over at Derrickson's Escape in the Kerie System, and going by Inara they're also going for 1.6 at LFT 992 (I had a buncha Grandidierite too and Kerie has the best price currently). Okay, I just refreshed Inara's page for Void Opals, and we can add Ross 1015 to the other 2, all three systems paying 1.6... nice! Having 3 stations paying that out could also make it easier to get past pirates.

Nice video and can't wait until the rest in the series. Before the update came out I unlocked the the power play mining lance to serve double duty for slightly less powerful work and minor defence. But it does both so there's that at least.

Also visibility drops when you ship freezes, a little tip dont target the floating chucks i find it kills limpets they pick one and die just them then fly free 😊

I would recommend still taking a subsurface if you're deepcore mining. I've encountered a lot of low temp diamonds that would need to be pulled with subsurface missiles while I was out hitting cores.

You can sit comfortably at two collection limpets while you blast away surface deposits with the abrasion blaster I have a keelback used strictly for mining purposes the maneuverability is okay. I just have to be careful because my build has max cargo, no scoop, and no shields.

Tried core mining in a Cutter. It was terrible. Almost took the full 2 minutes to get optimal yield range due to its terrible maneuverability. The Clipper is the best ship for it. 300M with full cargo of opals.

I had trouble last night trying to get the pulse wave analyzer to work. I had it and the planetary scanner on the same group and it kept disappearing. must be a bug so i gave up. excfellent guide dude!

I think it's important to actually get the right strength seismic charge with the strength of the fissure, it's not just about getting the dotted line in the blue, you risk destroying materials if you overcharge into an average or small. (I could be wrong and you might address it in the video but I can't watch the whole thing rn and I saw ya doing it a couple times)

I can't find an answer for this and didn't test for myself. In icy rings, when you crack a core, does the cold actually damage you? My temp gets to 0 and the creaking spooks me into backing off, but it makes getting some abrasion blasts difficult. Would be nice if it just ices your screen, but I wasn't gonna gamble my cargo

Hi there Commander!! I've got a question. Although I'm not new at Elite Dangerous, I'm completely new at mining as I never tried it. After seen some of your videos I decided to give it a go. As I had some credits to invest, I bought a Type-10 and I fitted to mining purposes, A rating most of it so far... My issue is that either my detailed surface scanner, abrasion lasers and seismic missiles work(they all appear in 'red' when I use the fite group where I assigned them. I'm sure it's just due to not being able to assign them properly or either just not knowing really how to do it. After watching your videos and other videos from different commanders I still cannot see what I've done wrong.... I would really appreciate any help as I'd like to start mining just to discover a new way of playing this wonderful game. I also guess that all these issues that I'm having are just bad karma accumulated as I used to be a pirate and hunt miners...hehehee Thanks in advance to anyone that is willing to spend a minute and help me with this matter. no fuelscoop ? be aware, this is not recomended. For my cores hunter Clipper I switch one of your class 3 limpet collector to a 3A fuelscoop. And Maybe I switch your 2A refinery with your 3A prospector : upgrade to 3A refinery and downgrade to 1A prospector), but only because 1 prospector is used at time. I just finished to build a Clipper and it is very beautifful inside, and surprise, I boost near 600m/s ôÔ ! Fastest than expected.

You only need a fuel scoop if you're travelling between systems. I'm currently mining void opals 1 jump away from my home system - no need for a fuel scoop.

I noticed that there was not any difference in damage with class one or class 2 miming hard points you can use class one mining tools and save all your higher lvl hard points for defense weapons the only deference I think is the mining lasers I believe they will strip a astroid faster with higher class.

NO, that's a terrible idea as the class 2 mining lasers give you larger chunks with higher concentrations of the mineral you're mining compared to the class 1 lasers.

That's a good question. Well since we are not planning to be in any hard fights you dont have to worry too much about you resistances. So i would go with Reinforced - hi-cap on the generator. Then fit 2 thermal res - super caps shield booster and of have room for more fit heavy duty - super cap shield boosters (remember to leave room for the pule wave scanner) As far as i know the ramming damage from asteroids and the blast from then they explode are absolute damage , mening you resistance have no effect (i think there is a 33% natural res to absolute damage). So it's just about getting as many hit points as you can

Not in a Chieftain, no. After the three dedicated military slots, it only has 5 optional internal slots to fit all the required equipment. You need 6 - cargo rack, refinery, collector limpets, prospector limpets, surface scanner, and shields to absorb impact from seismic blasts. A seventh slot would be wise, too, for a fuel scoop to avoid frequent pit stops. Technically yes, but you will get way more of what your looking for, I've been void opal hunting and got lucky and found a system with three well above galactic average, not 100 millions but made 60 in two hours

I use the PS4 and have checked every video and Google trying to figure out how to launch the probes into the rings. I can get to the Analysis Mode but can't pull up the screen to launch a probe. HELP??? Thanks for the video!!!

First, make sure you have the optional module, detailed surface scanner, bought and installed in your ship. Then, like other modules like limpets, you have assign the module to a button in your fire groups. If you're using custom control bindings, you are going to have to assign buttons to the in the options

It's the same as mapping anything else, but you have to be in the analysis mode. If you think it's an issue with pulling up the screen and you've tried hard restating your PS4 than submit a bug report ticket to frontier support.

Chapter 4 update introduced two separate modes - scan and combat, check your key bindings how to switch between them depending on your platform

I'm not sure about its use in mining if any however you can use it to scan geological and biological signals like geysers and other volcanic activity on planet surfaces. This will give you a 50,000 cr voucher you can also use it to scan geological and biological things in the notable stellar phenomena signal sources which will also give you a 50,000 Cr voucher in most situations.

I'm making 100 mill per hour now post nerf just shooting the fuckers with lasers, zero core mining. I'm equipped for it but I've yet to see a single core asteroid. Looking for low temp diamonds. Played less than a week, started Saturday it's now Thursday... just broke 1 billion credits and made elite trade status... And I have no idea what your supposed to do in this game and no idea what I'm really doing. I just followed a single guide in a video, outside of what it says there... Not a fucking clue 😁

I have real trouble eyeballing which asteroids are likely to have fissures. Anyone got some tips?

This took me awhile to get the hang of. Make sure you've got plenty of prospect limpets! I usually stay just outside of the mass lock of the belt then I roll so that the asteroids are above me so when I scan and use free look my hud and menus aren't blocking my view. From there just boost in a straight line and constantly look around your path for BRIGHT yellow asteroids only. If it has a hint of orange it's no good. Also some of the bright yellow ones will lie to you and when you get close enough check the back side of them, they must be bright all the way around, those will have a core 95% of the time I've noticed. But stay at a distance when scanning, it much easier to spot those bright yellow ones that way. Flying through the belt itself works but your line of sight to core asteroids can get blocked often and you'll miss one. Good luck miner!

Alistair MacRae they grow bright yellow from afar, are usually medium-to-large size, as you scan from closer range, they will have a reddish glow, with black zigzag lines. Thats usually good enough to know, but as you get very close, look at it with night vision/headlights and look for the squiggly fissure lines. By that time you can be pretty sure youre not wasting a limpet

The profit from Opal mining won't dwindle. It will move around. The supply of opals in a given location will dwindle though, and miners will have to move around as well. It's important to be clear, though, that the absurd money people are making is absolutely intended, albeit uncommon.

standard/traditional mining for about 50-70mil/h mining painite with a type-7... pays neat ;) all the new methods (surf and subsurf deposites) are pretty much worthless except for maaaybe the motherlodes but they are way too rare to be really profitable imo.

I still can't get my head around the clipper as a miner. I get that it is the best because cargo but mentally it just looks out of place, too lux. You must become a king to be a miner
